The Japan-U.S. Friendship Commission Prize for the Translation of Japanese Literature - Through the program, a prize of up to $6,000 will be awarded for the best translation of a modern Japanese or classical work. The prize may be divided between equally distinguished translations. To be eligible, translators must be a citizen or permanent resident of the United States. The Lindsley and Masao Miyoshi Translation Prizes and Grants - Through the program, a total of $6,000 in prizes and grants will be awarded to outstanding translations by non-citizens or non-permanent-residents of the United States for translations of particular scholarly merit or significance; promising translations-in-progress; subventions for forthcoming publication of especially deserving translations; and, in rare cases, lifetime achievement awards for translators with particularly distinguished careers. To be eligible, translations must be of book-length Japanese works, including novels, collections of short stories, manga, essays, memoirs, drama, or poetry. Submissions may be unpublished manuscripts, works in progress, or books published during the two years prior to the prize year (for the current prize, this means publication dates in 2018 and after).

The work to be translated should be of interest for its literary excellence and value. Priority will be given to projects that involve work that has not previously been translated into English.

Scholarly Editions and Translations grants support the preparation of editions and translations of pre-existing texts and documents of value to the humanities that are currently inaccessible or available in inadequate editions. These grants support full-time or part-time activities for periods of one to three years. Projects must be undertaken by a team of at least one editor or translator and one other staff member. Grants typically support editions and translations of significant literary, philosophical, and historical materials, but other types of work, such as musical notation, are also eligible. Applicants should demonstrate familiarity with the best practices recommended by the Association for Documentary Editing or the Modern Language Association Committee on Scholarly Editions. Translation projects should also explain the approach adopted for the particular work to be translated. Editions and translations produced with NEH support contain scholarly and critical apparatus appropriate to the subject matter and format of the edition. This usually means introductions and annotations that provide essential information about the form, transmission, and historical and intellectual context of the texts and documents involved. Proposals for editions of foreign language materials in the original language are eligible for funding, as well as proposals for editions of translated materials.

To that end, the organization is accepting applications for the PEN/Heim Translation Fund, which was established in 2003 by Priscilla and Michael Henry Heim in response to the dismayingly low number of literary translations currently appearing in English. Through the fund, grants will be awarded in support of the translation of book-length works of fiction, creative nonfiction, poetry, or drama that have not previously appeared in English in print or have appeared only in an outdated or otherwise flawed translation. Grants typically range between $2,000 and $4,000. Works should be translations-in-progress, as the grant aims to provide support for completion. Projects may have up to two translators. All other criteria being equal, preference will be given to translators at the beginning of their career, and to works by underrepresented writers working in underrepresented languages. Works with multiple translators, literary criticism, and scholarly or technical texts do not qualify.

Individual translators who meet the publication requirements that are listed below are eligible to apply. Applicants must be citizens or permanent residents of the United States. See "How to Prepare and Submit an Application" for the documentation that is required to demonstrate eligibility. Ineligible applications will be rejected without panel review. An individual may submit only one application for FY 2015 funding. You may not apply for both a Translation Project under this deadline (December 9, 2013) and a Literature Fellowship (in prose or poetry) under the 2014 deadline (when fellowships in poetry are offered). You are not eligible to apply if you have received three or more Fellowships (in poetry, prose, or for translation) from the National Endowment for the Arts. The lab also will serve as an essential community-builder for English-language translators who are working to increase the amount of international literature available to English-language readers. The annual award provides  a one-year fellowship to a qualified candidate to conduct  research  in the area of translational medicine. The program will provide support in the amount of $60,000 for the project to be conducted at the applicant's home institution in China, as well as support for the U.S. partner institution in the amount of $25,000.

The objective of this Task Agreement is to produce and distribute an American Sign Language video translation of the Alcatraz Cell House Audio Tour, which is circulated on handheld video players. Approximately 1.6 million visitors travel to Alcatraz Island every year with a vast majority of them using the Cell House Audio Tour. In 2013, the GGNRA Accessibility Coordinator accommodated over 60 requests for an American Sign Language translator. Furthermore, those that require a translator must do so online, five days in advance. This Task Agreement will better serve the public by allowing those who require such a service to navigate independently and without the inconvenience of making advance reservations. The GGNPC has exclusive rights to distribute the Alcatraz Cell House Audio Tour for the NPS and owns the intellectual property of the content they provide for its production (script, interviews with former guards and inmates, etc.). Antenna International produces the Cell House Audio Tour as the sole provider under contract with the GGNPC and retains ownership of intellectual property for any components they provided to the production (music, sound effects, etc.).

The purpose of the National Center for Complementary and Integrative Health (NCCIH) Administrative Supplement to the National Center for Advancing Translational Sciences (NCATS) supported Clinical and Translational Science Awards (CTSA) program is to develop a pipeline of qualified clinician-scientist investigators with complementary and integrative health degrees conducting clinical and/or translational research on complementary interventions for NCCIH high-priority research topics. This funding opportunity announcement (FOA) solicits applications for administrative supplements from awardees of the NCATS supported CTSA programs. Funding for these supplements will be provided by NCCIH.

This Funding Opportunity Announcement (FOA) is intended to provide an avenue for basic scientists, clinicians and clinical scientists to jointly initiate and conduct translational research projects which translate basic research findings into clinical tools for better human health. The scope of this FOA includes a range of activities to encourage translation of basic research findings which will impact the diagnosis, treatment and prevention of communication disorders. Connection to the clinical condition must be clearly established and the outcomes of the grant must have practical clinical impact.

The Fellowship Program for Advanced Social Science Research on Japan is a joint activity of the Japan-U.S. Friendship Commission (JUSFC) and the National Endowment for the Humanities. Awards support research on modern Japanese society and political economy, Japan's international relations, and U.S.-Japan relations. The program encourages innovative research that puts these subjects in wider regional and global contexts and is comparative and contemporary in nature. Research should contribute to scholarly knowledge or to the general public's understanding of issues of concern to Japan and the United States. Appropriate disciplines for the research include anthropology, economics, geography, history, international relations, linguistics, political science, psychology, public administration, and sociology. Awards usually result in articles, monographs, books, digital materials, archaeological site reports, translations, editions, or other scholarly resources.

We, Korean Studies Promotion Service in the Academy of Korean Studies, hereby announce the 2015 new project application support plan for four Korean Studies Promotion Program, 1) Laboratory Program for Korean Studies, 2) Core University Program for Korean Studies, 3) Seed Program for Korean Studies, and 4) English Translation of 100 Korean Classics.

This program supports digitally based research projects in all disciplines of the humanities and related social sciences. It is hoped that projects of successful applicants will help advance digital humanistic scholarship by broadening understanding of its nature and exemplifying the robust infrastructure necessary for creating such works. ACLS Digital Innovation Fellowships are intended to support an academic year dedicated to work on a major scholarly project that takes a digital form. Projects may: Address a consequential scholarly question through new research methods, new ways of representing the knowledge produced by research, or both; Create new digital research resources; Increase the scholarly utility of existing digital resources by developing new means of aggregating, navigating, searching, or analyzing those resources; Propose to analyze and reflect upon the new forms of knowledge creation and representation made possible by the digital transformation of scholarship. ACLS will award up to six Digital Innovation Fellowships in this competition year. Each fellowship carries a stipend of up to $60,000 towards an academic year's leave and provides for project costs of up to $25,000. ACLS does not support creative works (e.g., novels or films), textbooks, straightforward translations, or purely pedagogical projects.

MOD invites all qualified scientists with faculty appointments or the equivalent, at universities, hospitals and research institutions (not for profit or profit), to submit applications for research grants relevant to our mission. This encompasses basic biological processes governing differentiation and development, genetics and genomics of these processes, clinical studies, reproductive health and environmental toxicology, and social and behavioral studies concerning cognitive and behavioral risks that affect outcomes of pregnancy, the perinatal period, and subsequent child development. Applications will be directed to one of three committees whose respective foci are:    * Cell Lineage and Differentiation  * Gene Discovery and Translational Medicine  * Social and Behavioral Sciences. This involves family units and includes genes, toxicants, social  determinants that adversely affect language or behavior, especially if involving premature  infants or children with birth defects.

To that end, grants of up to $150,000 over two years will be awarded in support of basic and translational research projects related to A-T. Proposals from junior investigators, from scientists in related disciplines, and from individuals with innovative new ideas for A-T research are particularly encouraged, as are proposals from laboratories and teams from industry as well as teaching universities.
