    An organization may submit only one application through one of the following FY 2019 categories: Art Works or Challenge America. If an organization applies to the Challenge America category, it may not submit another application to the Art Works category. The Arts Endowment's support of a project may start on or after June 1, 2019. Generally, a period of performance of up to two years is allowed. Program Description Art Works is the National Endowment for the Arts' principal grants program. Through project-based funding, we support public engagement with, and access to, various forms of excellent art across the nation, the creation of art that meets the highest standards of excellence, learning in the arts at all stages of life, and the integration of the arts into the fabric of community life. Projects may be large or small, existing or new, and may take place in any part of the nation's 50 states, the District of Columbia, and U.S. territories.

    To advance this mission, the fund is accepting applications for its annual Performance Program, which supports performing and presenting organizations whose artistic excellence encourages and improves public knowledge and appreciation of serious contemporary American music. New this year, the program will support the electronic dissemination of live performances, whether as a simultaneous transmission or via a recording of a live performance, by means such as broadcasting and streaming. Expenses such as recording and electronic distribution costs can be considered as eligible costs in a request for general operating or project support when included as part of a live performance. Standalone recording projects (e.g., an "album") are not eligible for support through this program.

    To advance this mission, Ohio Humanities will award grants of up to $20,000 in support of documentaries, exhibitions, public talks, book festivals, and digital media that benefit Ohioans. Projects should situate and share stories in the context of the humanities and encourage participants to engage in considered reflection on those stories. Areas of study include history, anthropology, folklore, archaeology, literature, languages, linguistics, philosophy, ethics, comparative religion, jurisprudence, historical and critical approaches to the arts, and aspects of the social sciences that use historical or philosophical approaches.

Program Solicitation: National Endowment for the Arts Research Labs | NEA - 0 views

    The purpose of this Program Solicitation is to select an organization(s) (Cooperator) to undertake the Research Labs program. In brief, the Cooperator will: · Plan and implement a research program, including an exemplar study, in one of the NEA's three proposed topic areas. · The research program must include these components: 1. Development of an evidence-based research agenda; 2. Planning and implementation of a keystone (i.e., an exemplar) study, or a series of studies; 3. Production of at least one research report for each research study; 4. Fulfilling ad hoc analyses or information requests concerning the Research Lab research agenda; 5. Dissemination of findings, research products, tools or services, data, and communications to project stakeholders and to the public; and 6. Preparation and delivery of a briefing to the NEA on needs for continued work in the proposed research topic area, with recommendations both on how other research organizations working in the proposed area could be better supported by the agency and how the Research Lab can be sustained in the future.

Humanities Collections and Reference Resources - 0 views

    The Humanities Collections and Reference Resources (HCRR) program supports projects that provide an essential underpinning for scholarship, education, and public programming in the humanities. Thousands of libraries, archives, museums, and historical organizations across the country maintain important collections of books and manuscripts, photographs, sound recordings and moving images, archaeological and ethnographic artifacts, art and material culture, and digital objects. Funding from this program strengthens efforts to extend the life of such materials and make their intellectual content widely accessible, often through the use of digital technology. Awards are also made to create various reference resources that facilitate use of cultural materials, from works that provide basic information quickly to tools that synthesize and codify knowledge of a subject for in-depth investigation. HCRR offers two kinds of awards: 1) for implementation and 2) for planning, assessment, and pilot efforts (HCRR Foundations awards).

    Summer Stipends support individuals pursuing advanced research that is of value to humanities scholars, general audiences, or both. Eligible projects usually result in articles, monographs, books, digital materials and publications, archaeological site reports, translations, or editions. Projects must incorporate analysis and not result solely in the collection of data. Summer Stipends support continuous full-time work on a humanities project for a period of two consecutive months. Summer Stipends support projects at any stage of development. NEH funds may support recipients' compensation, travel, and other costs related to the proposed scholarly research. Summer Stipends are awarded to individual scholars. Organizations are not eligible to apply.

"NIGHT AT THE MUSEUMS" CIVIC EDUCATION PROGRAM - 0 views

    The United States Embassy in Bosnia and Herzegovina, acting through the Office of Public Affairs, is pleased to announce a Notice of Funding Opportunity for the "Night at the Museum" Civic Education Program which promotes awareness of joint cultural heritage and appreciation for museums as places of learning in BiH. Proposals should include a series of events, activities at three or more major museums in the country, and overnight stays for youth at those museums. Applicants should include in the program at a minimum the National Museum of BiH, the Fojnica Franciscan Monastery Museum, and one of the major museums in Republika Srpska, for no less than 400 students from different ethnic groups across the country. These youth participants will work together at each museum. Programs should be innovative, bring together youth (ages 12-24) from communities across ethnic, geographic, and administrative lines, and engage participants in follow-up community improvement activities. Priority will be given to applications which engage youth who have not yet had access to programs funded by the U.S. government. A detailed budget should be expressed in USD, with a maximum amount of $50,000.

Infrastructure and Capacity Building Challenge Grants - 0 views

    The mission of this Challenge Grants program is to strengthen the institutional base of the humanities by enabling infrastructure development and capacity building. Awards aim to help institutions secure long-term support for their core activities and expand efforts to preserve and create access to outstanding humanities materials. Applications are welcome from colleges and universities, museums, public libraries, research institutions, historical societies and historic sites, scholarly associations, state humanities councils, and other public and nonprofit humanities entities. Programs that involve collaboration among multiple institutions are eligible as well, but one institution must serve as the lead agent and formal applicant of record. Through these awards organizations can increase their humanities capacity with funds invested in a restricted, short-term endowment or other investment fund (or spend-down funds) that generate expendable earnings to support and enhance ongoing program activities. Eligible activities include the documentation of cultural heritage materials that are lost or imperiled; the preservation and conservation of humanities materials; and the sustaining of digital scholarly infrastructure. Challenge grants may also support the purchase of equipment and software; the design, purchase, construction, restoration, or renovation of facilities needed for humanities activities; and collections sharing. Such expenditures bring long-term benefits to the institution and to the humanities more broadly. Up to 10 percent of total grant funds (federal matching funds plus certified gifts) may be used for fundraising costs during the period of performance.

    The Public Humanities Projects program supports projects that bring the ideas and insights of the humanities to life for general audiences through in-person programming. Projects must engage humanities scholarship to analyze significant themes in disciplines such as history, literature, ethics, and art history. NEH encourages projects that involve members of the public in collaboration with humanities scholars or that invite contributions from the community in the development and delivery of humanities programming. This program supports a variety of forms of audience engagement. Applications should follow the parameters set out below for one of the following three categories: * Community Conversations: This category supports three-month-long to two-year-long series of at least six in-person public programs that are centered on one or more significant humanities resources, such as historic artifacts, artworks, literature, musical compositions, or films. These resources should be chosen to engage a diverse public audience.

    The goal of the Immigration Litigation Fund, administered by Borealis Philanthropy, is to ensure that the nation's immigration enforcement system is fair, humane, and prioritizes the civil and human rights of those vulnerable to deportation. The Fund supports impact litigation efforts that challenge discriminatory, unlawful, and overly punitive immigration enforcement policies and practices at any stage of the enforcement trajectory from identification and apprehension, to detention and removal, as well as efforts to exclude certain immigrants from entering the country. Project support is provided for impact litigation costs and strategic convenings meant to advance coordination on an issue related to enforcement and impact litigation efforts.     he Humanities Open Book Program is designed to make outstanding out-of-print humanities books available to a wide audience. By taking advantage of low-cost "ebook" technology, the program will allow teachers, students, scholars, and the public to read humanities books that have long been out of print. The Humanities Open Book Program is jointly sponsored by the National Endowment for the Humanities (NEH) and the Andrew W. Mellon Foundation (Mellon). Traditionally, printed books have been the primary medium for expressing, communicating, and debating humanistic ideas. However, the vast majority of humanities books sell a small number of copies and then quickly go out of print. Most scholarly books printed since 1923 are not in the public domain and are not easily available to the general public. As a result, there is a huge, mostly untapped resource of remarkable scholarship going back decades that is largely unused by today's scholars, teachers, students, and members of the public, many of whom turn first to the Internet when looking for information. Modern ebook technology can make these books far more accessible than they are today. NEH and Mellon are soliciting proposals from academic presses, scholarly societies, museums, and other institutions that publish books in the humanities to participate in the Humanities Open Book Program. Applicants will provide a list of previously published humanities books along with brief descriptions of the books and their intellectual significance.

    Firehouse Subs Public Safety Foundation was founded in 2005 in the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina. Firehouse Subs co-founders, Chris Sorensen and Robin Sorensen, traveled to Mississippi where they fed first responders as well as survivors. As they traveled back to Florida exhausted and exhilarated, they knew we could do more and the Firehouse Subs Public Safety Foundation was born.

    NEH Summer Seminars and Institutes for K-12 Educators provide school teachers across the nation the opportunity to broaden and deepen their engagement with the humanities. One- to four-week residential programs, led by scholars and K-12 professionals, allow participants (NEH Summer Scholars) to study a variety of humanities topics. Seminars and Institutes focus on the intellectual quality of humanities education and address recent developments in scholarship, teaching, and/or curriculum. NEH Summer Seminars and Institutes * focus on the study and teaching of significant texts and other resources; * provide models of excellent scholarship and teaching; * contribute to the intellectual growth of the participants; and * build lasting communities of inquiry. Landmarks of American History and Culture: Workshops for School Teachers - 0 views

    The Landmarks of American History and Culture program supports a series of one-week workshops for K-12 educators across the nation that enhance and strengthen humanities teaching at the K-12 level. The program defines a landmark as a site of historic importance within the United States and its territories that offers educators a unique and compelling opportunity to deepen and expand their knowledge of the diverse histories, cultures, traditions, languages, and perspectives of the American people. Projects employ a place-based approach, teaching historic sites through critical interpretation in order to explore central themes in American history and government, as well as in literature, art, music, and related humanities subjects. Each workshop must accommodate thirty-six participants (NEH Summer Scholars) and must be offered twice during the summer (for a total of seventy-two participants). The content, presenters, site visits, activities, and readings should be substantially the same in each week. Workshops may be hosted by institutions such as community colleges, universities, four-year colleges, learned societies, libraries or other repositories, centers for advanced study, cultural organizations, professional associations, and schools or school systems. Host institutions provide facilities and arrange for accommodations for participants, who receive a stipend. NEH expects host institutions to furnish facilities conducive to scholarly engagement with topics and sites.

    Grant funds must be used for CONSULTATION and DOCUMENTATION projects under NAGPRA. Consultation projects support efforts related to compiling or revising a NAGPRA inventory and making or responding to requests for items in a NAGPRA summary. Documentation projects support determining the geographical origin, cultural affiliation, and other basic facts surrounding the acquisition of Native American cultural items. Consultation and documentation projects should lead to determining control, treatment, and disposition of NAGPRA cultural items.
