Established in 2009, the Hilda and Preston Davis Foundation was created to "...to advance the development of all areas of the lives of children and young adults…with special emphasis…on those suffering from eating disorders." The primary goal of The Hilda and Preston Davis Foundation Awards Program for Eating Disorders Research is to support innovative, clinically relevant research that seeks to understand the underlying biology of eating disorders, including anorexia nervosa and bulimia nervosa, leading to improved patient care. To meet this goal, the Program provides vital support to Senior Postdoctoral Fellows and Junior Faculty Investigators working in non-profit academic, medical and research institutions in the United States to build a strong workforce dedicated to the etiology of eating disorders, its associated pathologies, and to drive therapeutic and treatment development.

This notice solicits applications to support a Telehealth Center of Excellence. The primary purpose of this program is to examine the efficacy of telehealth[1] services in rural and urban areas. The Telehealth Center of Excellence will be located in a public academic medical center that: Has a successful telehealth program with a high annual volume of telehealth visits; Has an established reimbursement structure that allows telehealth services to be financially self-sustaining; and Has established programs that provide telehealth services in medically underserved areas with high chronic disease prevalence and high poverty rates. The Telehealth Center of Excellence will serve as a national clearinghouse for telehealth research and resources, including technical assistance. To achieve that goal, the Telehealth Center of Excellence should have substantial experience operating a telehealth program that offers a broad range of clinical services and has experience demonstrating how their efforts have improved access to care and enhanced health outcomes for their patients. [1] The Office for the Advancement of Telehealth defines Telehealth as the use of electronic information and telecommunication technologies to support and promote long-distance clinical health care, patient and professional health-related education, public health, and health administration. Technologies include video conferencing, the internet, store-and-forward imaging, streaming media, and terrestrial and wireless communications.

The NIH Research Education Program (R25) supports research education activities in the mission areas of the NIH. The over-arching goal of this Fogarty International Center R25 program is to support educational activities that complement and/or enhance the training of a workforce to meet the nations biomedical, behavioral and clinical research needs by supporting the establishment of an African Association for Health Professions Education and Research (the "Association"). The Association will serve as a leadership and convening organization to network institutions across sub-Saharan Africa in order to jointly develop, disseminate, and share best practices, innovations, curricula, and policy and to engage in joint activities that will increase the quantity, quality and retention of African health professionals to address the crisis in HIV/AIDS and its' comorbidities on the continent. To accomplish the stated over-arching goal, this FOA will support creative educational activities with a primary focus on one or more of the following: Courses for Skills Development, Research Experiences, Mentoring Activities, Curriculum or Methods Development, and Outreach to broad communities and multiple stakeholders.

The Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA), Center for Substance Abuse Treatment (CSAT), is accepting applications for fiscal year (FY) 2018 Targeted Capacity Expansion Hispanic/Latino Center of Excellence for Substance Use Disorder Treatment and Recovery Program (Short Title: Hispanic/Latino COE). The purpose of this program is to provide support for a Hispanic/Latino Center of Excellence to develop and strengthen the specialized behavioral healthcare and primary healthcare workforce that provides substance use disorder (SUD) treatment and recovery support services to Hispanic/Latino populations. This is accomplished by accelerating the adoption and implementation of culturally appropriate, evidence-based and promising SUD treatment and recovery-oriented practices and services; heightening the awareness, knowledge, and skills of the workforce that addresses the needs of Hispanic/Latino communities with substance use or other co-occurring health disorders; and fostering regional and national alliances among culturally diverse practitioners, researchers, policy makers, funders, and the recovery community. The Hispanic/Latino COE recipient will work directly with SAMHSA and in collaboration with the FY 2017 Addiction Technology Transfer Center (ATTC) National Coordinating Center and the Regional ATTCs on activities aimed at improving the quality and effectiveness of treatment and recovery, as well as working directly with providers of clinical and recovery support services, and others that influence the delivery of services, to improve the quality of workforce training and service delivery to Hispanic/Latino communities.

The NIH Research Education Program (R25) supports research education activities in the mission areas of the NIH. The overarching goal of this National Heart, Lung, and Blood Institute (NHLBI) R25 program is to support mentoring and research education activities that enhance the diversity of the biomedical, behavioral and clinical research workforce. The major goal of this R25 program is to establish long-term mentoring that will enable junior faculty who are underrepresented in the biomedical sciences as defined by NOT-OD-18-122, to develop a research program and obtain NIH funding. This FOA specifically invites applications from senior faculty, established researchers, and experienced mentors to develop and direct the Summer Institutes of the Programs to Increase Diversity Among Individuals Engaged in Health-Related Research (PRIDE) program in order to mentor promising eligible junior faculty who have specific scientific interests in heart, lung, blood and sleep (HLBS) disorders research. The purpose of this funding opportunity announcement (FOA) is to encourage research grant applications that propose to develop or substantially modify existing cutting-edge tools that will advance prenatal and/or pediatric hydrocephalus research. The primary objective of this FOA is to remove barriers to hydrocephalus research that are due to scarcity of tools to investigate both the disease mechanisms and alternative therapies (non-shunt) in a rigorous manner. Applications should aim to transform the field of prenatal and/or pediatric hydrocephalus research by generating tools including animal and cell models, novel methods and innovative technologies that will be widely used throughout the neuroscience community to understand disease mechanisms and/or developing therapeutics.

The Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA), Center for Substance Abuse Treatment (CSAT), is accepting applications for fiscal year (FY) 2018 Targeted Capacity Expansion: Medication Assisted Treatment - Prescription Drug and Opioid Addiction (Short Title: MAT-PDOA) grants. The purpose of this program is to expand/enhance access to medication-assisted treatment (MAT) services for persons with an opioid use disorder (OUD) seeking or receiving MAT. This program's focus is on funding organizations and tribes/tribal organizations within states identified as having the highest rates of primary treatment admissions for heroin and opioids per capita and includes those states with the most dramatic increases for heroin and opioids, based on SAMHSA's 2015 Treatment Episode Data Set (TEDS). The desired outcomes include: 1) an increase in the number of individuals with OUD receiving MAT 3) a decrease in illicit opioid drug use and prescription opioid misuse at six-month follow-up.

The NIH Research Education Program (R25) supports research education activities in the mission areas of the NIH. The over-arching goal of this NHLBI R25 program is to support educational activities that enhance the diversity of the biomedical, behavioral and clinical research workforce by providing research experiences and related opportunities that enrich the pool of individuals from nationally underrepresented groups who will be available to compete for research opportunities in the mission areas of importance to NHLBI. To accomplish the stated over-arching goal, this FOA will support creative educational activities with a primary focus on Research Experiences.

The primary purpose of this solicitation is to support highly interactive, multi-disciplinary teams, whose research efforts are focused on large-scale discovery of T cell immune epitopes associated with infectious or autoimmune diseases, and rejection of, or tolerance to, transplanted cells/organs/tissues. The discovery of epitopes associated with T cell responses to commensals and how they may be altered by the inflammatory state will also be supported by this solicitation. Validation of these epitopes and defining their role in immune protection or immune-mediated pathogenesis in humans is required. Investigators may include development/refinement of T cell epitope prediction tools as part of their research plan. It is anticipated that the multi-disciplinary teams will minimally include immunologists with the appropriate expertise in epitope identification and validation, and either microbiologists and/or virologists with expertise in the target pathogen(s), clinicians with expertise in the target autoimmune diseases, or clinicians with expertise in transplantation, as appropriate. This program will not support studies related to HIV/AIDS, or allergen epitopes, including those which are infection-related.

The purpose of this Funding Opportunity Announcement (FOA) is to support the use of Collaborative Cross (CC) mouse lines to advance understanding of the host genetics involved in immune regulation and function and to further develop CC mouse lines that more faithfully reproduce human immune responses. Applicants may include CC, CC derivatives with reproducible genomes and/or CC-RIX mice to accomplish these goals. Research areas supported by this FOA include immune system development, function or regulation; mechanisms governing immune response to infectious pathogens, vaccines or adjuvants; host susceptibility factors and mechanisms of pathogen-induced immunopathology; and immune mechanisms involved in the development and progression of immune-mediated diseases, such as allergy/asthma, autoimmunity, primary immunodeficiency, inflammation, and cell/organ/tissue transplant rejection or tolerance.

The purpose of the funding opportunity announcement (FOA) is to advance our understanding of the modes of transmission of Kaposi sarcoma-associated herpesvirus (KSHV), also called human herpesvirus-8 (HHV-8); the biology of the initial steps of infection; and risk factors for infection to inform efforts to prevent KSHV transmission and thus prevent Kaposi sarcoma (KS), KSHV-associated multicentric Castleman disease (MCD), primary effusion lymphoma (PEL), and other KSHV-induced diseases in populations living with HIV or at high risk of developing HIV. This program covers two parallel FOAs of identical scientific scope. This FOA solicits applications for exploratory/developmental projects using the NIH R21 mechanism. The companion FOA, RFA-CA-18-013, is a parallel announcement for well-developed research projects using the NIH R01 funding mechanism.

Two-year grants of up to $75,000 will be awarded to implement children's mental health evidence-based practices in the region. In 2018, preference will be given in support of programs to advance access to effective prevention, screening, early identification, and mental health treatment interventions for children and young people up to the age of 21. Priority will be given to developmental screening, assessment, and mental health treatment models in early childhood settings for children; pediatric screening, assessment, diagnosis, and behavioral health treatment models in school-based clinics and primary care settings; screening, assessment, and behavioral health treatment models in the child welfare and foster care systems; collaborative court diversion programs designed to divert children and young people with mental health disorders or co-occurring mental health/substance abuse disorders from the corrections systems into treatment and support services; and/or best practice psychotherapy behavioral health treatment programs.

This Funding Opportunity Announcement (FOA) announces the availability of administrative supplements to support research in which the supplemental funding would investigate the role of dietary supplements and/or their ingredients in health maintenance and disease prevention. Parent awards need not be focused on dietary supplements; this FOA may provide support to include dietary supplements within the scope of relevant research projects. Research interests of ODS are not limited to specific health conditions, organ systems or population groups. ODS supports all types of research, including pre-clinical, clinical, behavioral, and epidemiological. Additionally, ODS supports research and training programs that build future research capacity for studying the role of dietary supplements in health and disease prevention. Primary consideration for support will be given to applications that stimulate dietary supplement research where it is lacking or lagging, clarify gaps, opportunities and balance between benefits and risks where data are in conflict, target special population groups where additional science on dietary supplements is needed, and focus on the use of dietary supplements in improving or maintaining health and reducing the risk of chronic disease. This UE5 funding opportunity announcement (FOA) is for a part of the NCIs Informatics Technology for Cancer Research (ITCR) program (https://itcr.cancer.gov/), and establishes an ITCR Education Center to provide education resources that will enhance the use and usability of the informatics tools and resources developed and supported by the ITCR program through education of both the cancer research community as well as informatics tool developers. To accomplish the stated over-arching goal, this FOA will support creative educational activities with a primary focus on Courses for Skills Development The proposed Center will provide focused education courses in each of the following two areas (1) thematic topics in cancer informatics and (2) informatics tool usability and user support . The courses supporting education in thematic topics in cancer informatics should cover the variety of domains represented by the ITCR program and incorporate ITCR tools as exemplars for applying informatics methods, including, as appropriate, hands-on training on the associated tools and analysis workflows for participants. The courses in informatics tool usability and user support should focus on activities that target the needs of currently funded ITCR investigators, and provide guidance in enhancing the usability and user support of their tools.

This notice announces the opportunity to apply for funding under the National Rural Health Information Clearinghouse Program. The purpose of this program is to serve as a national clearinghouse for information on rural health to support access to healthcare and improve population health in rural communities. The purpose of this Funding Opportunity Announcement is to solicit applications for the Vaccine and Treatment Evaluation Units (VTEUs) to implement clinical site protocols (clinical research, clinical trials) for evaluating vaccines, other preventive biologics, therapeutics, diagnostics, including prognostic and predictive markers, and devices for the treatment and prevention of infectious diseases as part of NIAID Infectious Diseases Clinical Research Consortium (IDCRC). The primary purpose of this funding opportunity announcement (FOA) is to support and facilitate multidisciplinary approaches towards the development of new and/or improved contraceptive methods for both men and women through the formation of a Contraceptive Research Development Center. This FOA also allows the inclusion of translational studies to facilitate the pre-clinical to clinical transition and increase the likelihood of clinical success. Additionally, it allows for behavioral and social science research projects to study contraceptive use and non-use of marketed products or products in clinical development. The Center will serve as a national resource for development of early stage investigators electing to pursue careers in contraceptive research.

This notice announces the opportunity to apply for funding under the Rural Telementoring Training Center (RTTC) Program. The purpose of this program is to train academic medical centers and other centers of excellence (COEs) to create or expand technology-enabled collaborative learning and capacity building models (such as Project ECHO, ECHO-like models, and other emerging models in the field). The RTTC will develop and share freely accessible tools and resources that are adaptable to culturally and regionally diverse populations to provide training nationwide to facilitate the dissemination of best practice specialty care to primary care providers and care teams in rural and underserved areas. This cooperative agreement aligns with HRSA's goals of fostering a health care workforce to address current and emerging needs, improving access to quality health services, achieving health equity, and enhancing population health.
