The purpose of this NOFO is to support a national technical assistance (TA) resource center to provide sexual violence (SV) prevention TA, both subject matter content and logistical, to CDC's Rape Prevention and Education (RPE) program recipients (e.g., SHDs) and their programmatic partners (sub-recipients). Technical assistance activities will include resource development, including information tools, training materials, and conducting trainings (i.e., online webinars and in-person). In addition, the national TA resource center will maintain a central resource library to collect and disseminate guidance developed and information related to SV prevention. All of the resources and information developed for RPE program recipients will also be widely disseminated to national SV practitioners. This NOFO will strengthen the SV prevention field by providing information and TA on the planning, implementation and evaluation of programs, practices, and policies that seek to prevent SV. Having a specific focus on increasing SV prevention programs' capacity to implement and evaluate strategies will yield impactful practices.

Founded in 1972, the Tourette Association of America has emerged as the premier national nonprofit organization working to make life better for all people affected by Tourette and tic disorders. The association advances its work by raising public awareness and fostering social acceptance; working to advance scientific understanding, treatment options, and care; educating professionals to better serve the needs of children, adults, and families challenged by Tourette and tic disorders; advocating for public policies and services that promote positive school, work, and social environments; providing help, hope, and a supportive community across the nation; and empowering its community to deal with the complexities of this spectrum of disorders. To that end, grants of up to $150,000 over two years will be awarded for basic and clinical studies related to any aspect of Tourette syndrome. To be eligible, investigators are required to have an advanced degree such as a PhD, MD, or equivalent or be an allied professional with an advanced degree in a related field. Investigators from nonprofit and for-profit organizations are eligible to apply. Pre-proposals must be received no later than November 1, 2017. Upon review, selected applicants will be invited to submit a full application by February 15, 2018.

The purpose of this Funding Opportunity Announcement (FOA) is to seek applications for the Developmental Centers for Interdisciplinary Research in Benign Urology Program (P20). Among the goals of this Program is to further advance research in benign genitourinary diseases and disorders by building research teams and facilitating resources generation and sharing. The research teams should be composed of individuals with complementary expertise who propose to either develop innovative resources (Resource Development Projects) or a new research project (Scientific Research Projects) that utilize integrative approaches to address questions relevant to benign genitourinary diseases or disorders. While NIH defined clinical trials are not allowed, studies involving human subjects or tissues are encouraged. Resources developed by the Resource Development Projects will be shared upon validation while resources developed within the Scientific Research Projects will be shared at the end or termination of the award, as appropriate and consistent with the program goal of further advancing research. Each Developmental Center is centered on a single Project and must contain an Administrative Core and an Educational Enrichment Program. As part of the efforts of the Division of Kidney, Urologic and Hematologic Diseases (DKUH) to expand and enhance benign urology research, the Developmental Centers Program will work in partnership with the George M. O'Brien Urology Cooperative Research Centers Program (U54) and the Multidisciplinary K12 Urologic Research (KURe and UroEpi) Career Development Programs.

Founded in 2009 by two sisters from Brooklyn, the Tell Every Amazing Lady (T.E.A.L.) About Ovarian Cancer Louisa M. McGregor Ovarian Cancer Foundation works to drive medical research, provide survivor support, and promote public awareness and education of the signs, symptoms, and risk factors of ovarian cancer. To that end, the foundation is accepting applications for its 2019 Medical Research Program. Through the program, grants of up to $40,000 will be awarded to investigators working to advance research on ovarian cancer. To be eligible, applicants must be affiliated with a nonprofit institution in the United States.

The goal of this program is to support the advancement of regulatory science to facilitate the implementation and the assessment of continuous manufacturing and similar innovative monitoring and control techniques in the pharmaceutical sector. This will be accomplished by making awards to institutions of higher education and nonprofit organizations for the purpose of studying and recommending improvements to the process of continuous manufacturing of drugs and biological products (e.g., monoclonal antibodies and therapeutic enzymes). Examples of activities could include the development or modification of a novel manufacturing process (e.g., design, scale-up, and/or commercial scale), control method, and/or testing technology. Awards made under this FOA may be funded in part by appropriations received under the 21st Century Cures Act, section 3016.

The mission of the American Society for Hematology, the world's largest professional organization dedicated to the causes and treatment of blood disorders, is to further the understanding, diagnosis, treatment, and prevention of disorders affecting the blood, bone marrow, and immunologic, hemostatic and vascular systems through the promotion of research, clinical care, education, training, and advocacy in hematology. To that end, ASH is accepting proposals from hematologists whose research would not otherwise be accomplished due to cuts in NIH funding. Established in January 2013, the long-term goal of the program is to help sustain recipients' research and contribute to their retention in hematology investigation. The Bridge Grants program will provide at least thirty one-year awards annually, in the amount of $150,000 each, to ASH members who applied for an NIH R01 grant or equivalent but were denied funding due to budget cuts. Grants will support projects in basic, translational, patient-oriented, or outcomes-based research.

The Native American Elder Justice Initiative (NAEJI) will address the need for more culturally appropriate information and community education materials on elder abuse, neglect, and exploitation in Indian Country. It is expected that activities carried out under NAEJI will address at least one (1) of the following needs: a) Identify, develop and disseminate information and strategies on effective collaborations between tribal and non-tribal entities to address suspected cases of abuse, neglect, or exploitation; b) Assist Tribes in the development of tribal codes that protect seniors, building on existing work to develop model codes and an implementation toolkit, and maintaining examples of tribal codes to share with those creating or updating their own codes; c) Identify and develop tribally produced elder abuse prevention resources, and other informational materials for professionals and tribal members on elder abuse, neglect, and exploitation that are culturally appropriate to Tribal perceptions of abuse and Tribal values;

The Coordination Center for the Models of Infectious Disease Agent Study (MIDAS) program will serve as a hub for collaboration, testing and dissemination of research products from the network of MIDAS investigators. The Coordination Center will also serve as the primary repository for MIDAS-related datasets, models and software. The Coordination Center will maintain, promote and maximize utility and use of the shared MIDAS resources. In addition, the Program Director(s)/Principal Investigator(s) of the Coordination Center will proactively develop collaborative activities and educational opportunities intended to enhance the utility of MIDAS resources and to improve the training experiences for members of the MIDAS network and their graduate students and postdoctoral researchers. Limited funding will also be provided to allow the Coordination Center to conduct impactful research on the evaluation and meta-analysis of existing modeling resources for the study of infectious disease spread and intervention.

Since its founding in 1979, the Skin Cancer Foundation has set the standard for educating the public and the medical community about skin cancer. The foundation is committed to reducing the incidence and mortality of the world's most common cancer, which is now occurring at epidemic levels. As part of this mission, the foundation is accepting proposals for its 2019 Research Grants Awards program. Two grants of $50,000 and one grant of $25,000 will be awarded to support one-year pilot research projects related to the disease. Researchers are invited to submit applications for projects to be conducted within the dermatology departments of medical institutions in the United States and Canada. The program is open to dermatology residents, fellows, and junior investigators.

PSC Partners Seeking a Cure is a nonprofit foundation whose mission is to provide education and support to patients with primary sclerosing cholangitis, their families, and their caregivers and to raise funds for research on the causes, treatments, and cures for PSC, an autoimmune disease that causes the bile ducts inside and outside the liver to become scarred, narrowed, and eventually blocked. The foundation offers grants of up to $60,000 over two years in support of projects that address a novel, basic, or clinical research question related to PSC and closely allied diseases (such as inflammatory bowel diseases, ulcerative colitis, or Crohn's disease) as they relate to PSC. Preference will be given to projects that have the potential to discover a cure for the disease and/or that identify novel therapies which may significantly delay time to liver transplantation, prevent disease recurrence following liver transplantation, and/or improve the quality of life of those with PSC.

The goal for this project is to develop and deliver a pilot nutrition paraprofessional training project for FDPIR staff working at local program sites. The training tools and resources developed under this grant should support the efforts of FDPIR local staff in conducting nutrition education activities for FDPIR participants who receive USDA foods.

This FOA supports applications for Claude D. Pepper Older Americans Independence Centers (OAICs), centers of excellence in geriatrics research and research education to increase scientific knowledge leading to better ways to maintain or restore independence in older persons. The OAIC awards are designed to develop or strengthen awardee institutions programs that focus and sustain progress on a key area in aging research related to the mission of the OAIC program.

Through the program, one-year grants of up to $40,000 will be awarded to projects that investigate various aspects of hearing and balance disorders related to the inner ear. Priority will be given to investigators early in their careers who need seed funds to generate results and data that can be used to support applications for larger grants (i.e., NIH grants) in the future. Projects should relate to the hearing or balance functions of the ear. Both basic and clinical studies that investigate aspects of the auditory and vestibular systems, including but not limited to genetics, neurotology, anatomy, auditory processing, molecular and cellular biology, therapeutic studies, and investigations of current or experimental devices (i.e., cochlear implants), may be proposed. Funding may only be used for direct costs, including salaries of technical and supporting staff, equipment related to the research, and supplies. The grants will not support the salary of the principal investigator, travel or conference attendance, or educational costs.

The National Council on Disability (NCD) will seek proposals for a report series on bioethics and disability. The findings in these reports primarily serve to assist policymakers, including the White House and Congress, with the insight needed to make policy decisions designed to improve medical decision-making regarding persons with disabilities. The reports will also provide state legislatures, medical associations and educators, and persons with disabilities and those who support them, with an understanding of policy, legislation, and initiatives that impact their lives. The report series will examine policies and practices related to the availability of medical interventions and life-saving medical care for persons with disabilities. It will examine five specific areas where disability and bioethics intersect, with a focus on how a person's disability impacts medical decisions, including decisions to provide life-saving care.

This funding opportunity announcement (FOA) seeks to develop and nurture a national innovation ecosystem that builds upon biomedical research to develop technologies, products and services that benefit society. Toward meeting this objective, the I- Corps program is being offered. The I-Corps at NIH program is focused on educating researchers and technologists on how to translate technologies from the lab into the marketplace. Under this FOA, participating NIH and CDC Institutes and Centers will provide administrative supplement awards to two cohorts of currently-funded SBIR and STTR Phase I grantees to support entrepreneurial training under the I-Corps at NIH Program. The program is designed to provide three-member project teams with access to instruction and mentoring in order to accelerate the translation of technologies currently being developed with NIH and CDC SBIR and STTR funding. It is anticipated that outcomes for the I-Corps teams participating in this program will include significantly refined commercialization plans and well-informed pivots in their overall commercialization strategies. To that end, the foundation awards grants to organizations and programs that advance the prevention, diagnosis, and treatment of alcoholism, chemical dependency, and addictive behavior, including support for related research and education.

The purpose of NIDILRR's Disability and Rehabilitation Research Projects (DRRP), which are funded through the Disability and Rehabilitation Research Projects and Centers Program, is to plan and conduct research and dissemination and utilization activities to develop methods, procedures, and rehabilitation technology that maximize the full inclusion and integration into society, employment, independent living, family support, and economic and social self-sufficiency of individuals with disabilities, especially individuals with the most severe disabilities, and to improve the effectiveness of services authorized under the Rehabilitation Act of 1973, as amended (Rehabilitation Act). The purpose of this particular DRRP is to generate new knowledge about the effectiveness of interventions to improve college education and employment outcomes of people with serious mental illness or traumatic brain injury.

The Retirement Research Foundation is accepting proposals from nonprofit organizations for local and national projects designed to improve the quality of life for older Americans. Grants will be awarded in support of projects that provide direct services, advocacy, education, and training programs for professionals working with elders, as well as for research that investigates causes and solutions to significant problems of older adults. Projects with a local focus will be considered from organizations in seven states only: Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Kentucky, Missouri, Wisconsin, and Florida. However, advocacy, training, and research projects of national relevance are considered from organizations located anywhere in the United States. To be eligible, organizations must be considered tax exempt under Section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code.

The Office of Citizen Exchanges, Sports Diplomacy Division, of the U.S. Department of State's Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs (ECA) announces an open competition for the FY 2018 International Sports Programming Initiative (ISPI). U.S. public and private non-profit organizations meeting the provisions described in Internal Revenue Code section 26 U.S.C. 501(c)(3) may submit proposals to manage sports exchange projects designed to reach underserved youth and/or their coaches/sports administrators who manage youth sports programs. These exchanges between the United States and select countries will be reciprocal exchanges that employ sports to address the Sport and Social Change theme outlined below. The International Sports Programming Initiative uses sports to help underserved youth around the world develop important leadership skills, achieve academic success, promote tolerance and respect for diversity, and positively contribute to their home and host communities. Sports Diplomacy programs are an important tool for advancing U.S. foreign policy goals through interaction with hard-to-reach groups such as at-risk youth, women, minorities, people with disabilities, and non-English speakers. The focus of all programs must be on both male and female youth and/or their coaches/sports administrators. Programs designed to train elite athletes or coaches are ineligible under C.3 of this announcement. Other Eligibility Requirements are available within the full announcement.
