Humanities Connections grants seek to expand the role of the humanities in the undergraduate curriculum at two- and four-year institutions, offering students in all academic fields new opportunities to develop the intellectual skills and habits of mind that the humanities cultivate. Grant projects focus on connecting the resources and perspectives of the humanities to students' broader educational and professional goals, regardless of their path of study. Through this new grant program, NEH invites proposals that reflect innovative and imaginative approaches to preparing students for their roles as engaged citizens and productive professionals in a rapidly changing and interdependent world. Grants support the development and implementation of an integrated set of courses and student engagement activities focusing on significant humanities content. A common topic, theme, or compelling issue or question must link the courses and activities. The linked courses (a minimum of three) may fulfill general education or core curriculum requirements but could also be designed primarily for students in a particular major or course of study. The Humanities Connections program gives special encouragement to projects that foster collaboration between humanities faculty and their counterparts in the social and natural sciences and pre-service or professional programs in business, engineering, health sciences, law, computer science, and other non-humanities fields.

This solicitation will provide funding for direct services to victims of sex trafficking and labor trafficking, as well as for efforts to increase the capacity of communities to respond to human trafficking through the development of interagency partnerships, professional training, and public awareness activities. NIJ is seeking proposals for research and evaluation projects that support and inform federal, State, local and tribal criminal justice agencies and victim service providers in responding to the challenges that trafficking in persons (hereinafter "trafficking in persons," "human trafficking," or "trafficking") poses in their jurisdictions. NIJ is particularly interested in research responding to the following priority areas: * Fostering partnerships between researchers and trafficking survivors. * Evaluation of the Enhanced Collaborative Model Human Trafficking Task Forces. * Perception of human trafficking victimization in courts (judges, jurors, prosecutors). * The extent to which existing crime reporting and data systems capture the human trafficking victimization that occurs in a particular jurisdiction. * Trafficking and sex offender registries.

The purpose of the Health Workforce Improvement Program (HWIP) is to address critical human resources challenges in Ethiopia's health sector. The program will build on the work carried out under the Strengthening Human Resources for Health (HRH) Cooperative Agreement (AID-663-A-12-00008) that was awarded to Jhpiego in 2012. The Health Workforce Improvement Program will work with the Ministry of Health (MOH) and Ministry of Science and Higher Education (MOSHE) at the national level and their respective structures at the sub-national levels (regional, zonal and woreda levels), Higher Education Institutes (HEIs) levels that provide healthcare education at national and sub-national, and targeted health worker professional associations to improve the quality of Ethiopia's health workforce. The focus areas of this Activity are: 1. Institutional and individual capacity building to improve the quality of pre-service education for priority clinical cadres to improve the competency of clinical health workers, 2. Improve the human resource for health management and regulation capacity of national and sub-national entities. This announcement solicits applications for the Rural Health Care Coordination Network Partnership Program (Care Coordination Program). The purpose of the Rural Health Care Coordination Network Partnership Program is to support the development of formal, mature rural health networks that focus on care coordination activities for the following chronic conditions: diabetes, congestive heart failure (CHF) and chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD). Care coordination in the primary care practice involves deliberately organizing patient care activities and sharing information among all of the participants concerned with a patient¿s care to achieve safer and more effective care. Rural Americans are unhealthier, with higher rates of chronic illnesses, such as diabetes, CHF, and COPD and have higher rates of high-risk behaviors such as smoking, physical inactivity, and poor nutrition.[1],[2],[3],[4] These high-risk behaviors cause many of the illnesses, suffering and deaths due to chronic diseases and conditions.[5] The increasing prevalence of chronic diseases and the high cost of health care in the U.S. bring treatment of the ¿whole¿ person to the forefront, especially as there are often psychosocial (psychological and social) issues related to chronic diseases; for example, there is a link between diabetes and depression. In addition, more mental health problems are seen in the primary care setting than other health care settings; thus, integrating behavioral health care into primary care helps address both the physical and psychosocial aspects of health and wellness. The Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration, Center for Mental Health Services is accepting applications for fiscal year (FY) 2015 National Consumer and Consumer Supporter Technical Assistance Centers (Short Title: Consumer and Consumer Supporter TA Centers) grants. The purpose of this program is to provide technical assistance to promote consumer-directed approaches for adults with serious mental illnesses. Such programs maximize consumer self-determination and recovery, promote access to treatment, and assist people with serious mental illness by decreasing their dependence on expensive social services and avoiding psychiatric hospitalization. The entities responsible for providing technical assistance for this program may be either consumer or consumer supporter organizations. The primary recipients of the Consumer and Consumer Supporter TA Centers' technical assistance activities will be consumers, consumer organizations, or consumer supporter organizations. The Office of Rural Health Policy (ORHP) will fund a cooperative agreement to support a Rural Assistance Center (RAC). The RAC is a gateway to information on rural health for residents in rural areas of the United States and for all others interested in the issue. Through daily interactions and responding to inquiries and concerns, the RAC will be able to ensure that ORHP and the Department of Health and Human Services are informed of developing and ongoing grass-roots issues in the rural U.S. The role of ORHP as the Department of Health and Human Service¿s focal point for rural information allows its staff to identify key regulatory and statutory issues. The staff of ORHP will work collaboratively with the RAC to prioritize key issues and develop information resources to share with callers and web users. It is also expected that RAC staff will produce publications to respond to emerging issues. ORHP and Department staff will review RAC proposals for publications to ensure that critical issues are appropriately identified. When publications are prepared for release, ORHP and Department staff will review them for accuracy and completeness. The awardee must be able to identify and facilitate access to information from a wide range of sources that deal with aspects of rural health care. ORHP will also coordinate information sharing between the RAC and the Rural Health Research Centers, the Rural Recruitment and Retention Network, State Offices of Rural Health, and other projects that are funded by the Office. RAC staff will work with ORHP to develop strategies for dissemination of key research findings and for providing synthesis of key research findings. The Division of Child, Adolescent, and Family Health (DCAFH) and the Division of Healthy Start and Perinatal Services (DHSPS), both parts of the Maternal and Child Health Bureau (MCHB) of the Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA) in the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) are accepting applications for the National Fetal, Infant, and Child Death Review Center (FICDRC or Center). The ultimate goal of fetal, infant and child death reviews is to prevent deaths of children through the use of information gained from systematic reviews that identify factors at the individual, environmental, clinical or systems levels that can be mitigated. Ideally by having this comprehensive review, factors associated with preventable deaths can be addressed. CDR and FIMR programs provide valuable information regarding fetal, infant and child deaths and provide insight into gaps in services, systems and modifiable risk factors not obtained from administrative surveillance systems. Information from these reviews can be used at the local, state and Federal levels to focus planning and policy development, quality improvement and health systems development, and to enhance efforts to develop and maintain risk reduction and prevention programs. This initiative will provide funds for a FICDRC to improve and strengthen state and local capacity to perform complete and accurate fetal and child death reviews including an estimated 1,200 CDR and 159 FIMR programs. The purpose of this program is to support integrated rural health care networks that have combined the functions of the entities participating in the network, including skilled and experienced staff and a high functioning network board, in order to address the health care needs of the targeted rural community. Recipients will combine the functions of the entities participating in the network to address the following legislative aims: (i) achieve efficiencies; (ii) expand access, coordinate, and improve the quality of essential health care services; and (iii) strengthen the rural health care system as a whole. The RHND Program encourages innovative solutions to local health care needs identified by local communities and supports rural communities in preparing for changes within the health care environment. Furthermore, the program creates an opportunity for rural health networks to collaboratively address the key priorities of the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS): mental health, substance use disorder, and value-based care. The purpose of this forecasted funding opportunity announcement (FOA) is to provide competitive grant funds for up to 5 years for projects authorized by the Child and Family Services Improvement and Innovation Act (Pub. L. 112-34). This Act includes a targeted grants program (section 437(f)) that directs the Secretary of Health and Human Services to reserve funds for regional partnership grants (RPGs) to improve the well-being of children affected by substance abuse. These targeted grants will be awarded to regional partnerships that provide, through interagency collaboration and integration of programs and services, activities and services that are designed to increase the well-being of, improve permanency outcomes for, and enhance the safety of children who are in out-of-home placements or are at risk of entering out-of-home placements as a result of a parent's or caretaker's substance abuse.

Zimbabwe’s HIV epidemic is declining but remains generalized, with a national prevalence of 14%, incidence among adults 15-64 years of 0.45% (~32,000 new infections annually) and a mother to child transmission (MTCT) rate of 5.2%despite prevention of mother-to-child transmission (PMTCT) coverage of 93%. There are approximately 1.4 million people living with HIV (PLHIV), steadily increasing as PLHIV live longer on treatment. However, testing, treatment, and viral suppression coverage lag behind the 90-90-90 targets; in particular, the“first 90” where 74% of PLHIV know their status. Zimbabwe’s Ministry of Health and Child Care (MOHCC) has highlighted human resource challenges across the entire continuum of HIV service delivery. As Zimbabwe has adopted the UNAIDS Fast Track strategy for epidemic control, differentiated care becomes increasingly necessary to increase convenience and access and decongest clinical facilities. These strategies have been piloted in different settings, but require rapid scale-up. This NOFO aims to reach epidemic control in the challenging, resource-constrained environment of Zimbabwe. Through a comprehensive approach addressing facility and community-based services, the recipient will provide direct support and technical assistance (TA) to accelerate the HIV service delivery cascade and improve data quality and utilization for decision-making. The NOFO is also an opportunity to partner with the MOHCC to develop creative and sustainable solutions.

HLP will strengthen the GOH as steward of the health sector, increasingly in control of its own financial and human resources, over a coordinated system that is less reliant on external partners for equitable delivery of quality health services. In essence, the Project will enhance the capabilities of Haitian partners to direct their own development and reduce dependence on outside sources.
