    The Bureau of International Labor Affairs (ILAB), U.S. Department of Labor announces the availability of approximately $1.5 million total costs for one or more cooperative agreements to fund a project to integrate the issues of child labor alleviation and acceptable conditions of work into women's economic empowerment initiatives. The project intends to support service providers and policy makers when working with women entrepreneurs to ensure women-led enterprises can improve livelihoods responsibly without resorting to child labor or harmful labor practices. The project's outcomes include: Outcome 1: Increased understanding of child labor and acceptable conditions of work in the context of women's economic empowerment initiatives. Outcome 2: Increased availability of tools to integrate child labor awareness and acceptable conditions of work into women's economic empowerment initiatives. Outcome 3: Demonstrated effectiveness of tools in mitigating child labor and unacceptable conditions of work in women's economic empowerment initiatives. Outcome 4: Increased awareness and adoption of tools to integrate child labor awareness and acceptable conditions of work into women's economic empowerment initiatives by a broad range of stakeholders.The duration of the project will be a maximum of 4 years (48 months) from the effective date of the award.

    NIO-PAS seeks proposals for a project entitled "Supporting Her Empowerment via Digital Tools." Based on funding availability, this project will build capacity of women artisans by harnessing their entrepreneurial and innovative spirits and empowering them with digital tools to grow further. Under this program, the grantee will organize and implement three 2-day workshops on "Digital Strategies for Business" in Lucknow, Uttar Pradesh; Jaipur, Rajasthan; and Ludhiana, Punjab for a minimum of ten and a maximum of 15 CSO/NGO representatives in each program city. The workshops should include hands-on training that will teach participants in each city how to use commercially-available technology to sell art and/or related products online. The workshops should also include a "train-the-trainer" teaching methodology to allow participants to share their new skills with women artisans from far-flung and rural areas, and within their communities. Each participant must produce an initial idea to execute by the end of the workshops.

    The Public Affairs Section of the U.S. Embassy in New Delhi (PAS New Delhi) seeks proposals for a project entitled "Gender Equity: Women's Equality, Empowerment and Leadership through Safe Higher Educational and Work Spaces." Through this grant project, the grantee will establish partnerships with five Indian universities/ colleges to organize five gender sensitization training workshops for 125 faculty of Higher Educational Institutions (HEI's) and conduct gender and safety audits at these institutions. Each workshop would be led by an eminent American feminist scholar or activist in addition to Indian experts. The workshops should predominantly be in Tier II Indian cities including one in North India and one each in the American Consulate districts (Mumbai, Chennai, Kolkata and Hyderabad). As part of the workshop, the grantee will organize and implement a creative exhibition/installation/performance showcasing narratives on safe and gender-just work places and campuses.     The Public Affairs Section (PAS) of the U.S. Embassy in Tbilisi is pleased to announce an open competition for an implementing partner for the Promoting Gender Equality in Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) Exchange Program (1) to facilitate a clear understanding of key barriers to female participation in TVET and analyze their implications in women's employment and economic empowerment; (2) to provide practical tools and guidance on how to mainstream gender effectively into the TVET institutional structures, systems, programs and activities; and (3) to strengthen the capacity of TVET providers to overcome gender disparity in student recruitment and retention. U.S. non-profit/non-governmental organizations, public and private educational institutions, including TVET providers, may submit proposals to manage a year-long project to support the professional development of the staff of select Georgian TVET institutions through a robust professional study tour at U.S. training centers, with site visits to the relevant TVET institutions, partners, and policymakers in the United States. PAS intends to award a cooperative agreement for an estimated amount of $225,000 to defray the costs for the preliminary needs assessment trip to Georgia, followed by a three-week intensive study tour in the United States for up to 12 participants, and follow-up visit in Georgia for evaluation and further consultations.

Preventing Violence Against Women in Priority Communities through Expanded Services - 0 views

    Violence against women continues to affect millions of women and girls each year. Racial and ethnic minority women have a higher documented risk of violence victimization. Recent statistics have identified other priority communities at elevated risk such as the incarcerated, the elderly, and adolescents. This Funding Opportunity Announcement (FOA) will encourage a focus on preventing and responding to violence against women in these and other priority communities. Harmful social norms, including social constructs around what it means to be a woman or a man, contribute to the risk of perpetrating violence against women. As such, this FOA encourages applications from organizations and coalitions working to prevent violence against women by transforming harmful gender norms through women's empowerment and male engagement efforts. Preliminary evaluation results of OWH's previous work to improve community responses to violence against women highlights the critical need to link women to services from multiple sectors including but not limited to legal assistance; law enforcement; mental health services; substance abuse treatments; and housing. This FOA also encourages applications from organizations and coalitions using multisectoral approaches to provide response services to affected women in their communities.

    The goal of this grant is to hold a one-week program to train girls ages 13-17, and mentors ages 18-25 from two at-risk communities on the north coast and/or the D.R.-Haiti border. The soccer clinics coached by two current or retired US women's soccer players will promote sports as a tool for gender equality and conflict resolution. The program must include life skills, empowerment, health, and/or personal development workshops to help girls create life plans and prevent teenage pregnancy, school dropout and other risky behaviors while promoting healthy choices, good decision making and planning for the future. The program will consist of two two-day clinics (one per community), including both soccer skills clinics and life skills sessions. While the focus for younger participants aged 13-17 would be these soccer and life skills development, young women aged 18-25 would be able to learn from the professional soccer players and other educators to work towards becoming mentors themselves. Alumni of U.S. government exchange programs may be invited to serve as mentors and facilitators.

    Dining for Women  is an educational giving circle: Our members meet monthly, learn about our featured and sustained grantees, and donate to DFW, allowing us collectively to support grassroots international organizations empowering women and girls living in extreme poverty. We fund projects that foster good health, education, and economic self-sufficiency in developing countries. We are devoted to educating and inspiring individuals to make a difference and fight global poverty through the power of collective giving. Dining for Women selects a featured grantee each month and promotes it throughout the month at chapter meetings, through mailings, social media and online communications. Grantees are assigned to be featured in a specific month based on issue area and geography. Dining for Women makes grants of $35,000-50,000 that may be disbursed in one distribution or which may be taken in up to two equal distributions spanning a period of two years.
