The Administration for Children and Families (ACF), Office of Planning, Research, and Evaluation (OPRE) anticipates soliciting applications for Behavioral Interventions Scholars grants to support dissertation research by advanced graduate students who are using behavioral science approaches to examine specific research questions of relevance to social service programs and policies. These grants are meant to build capacity in the research field to apply a behavioral lens to issues facing poor and vulnerable families in the United States, and to foster mentoring relationships between faculty members and high-quality doctoral students.Applicants will be required to demonstrate the applicability of their research to practice or policy serving low-income children, adults, and families, especially those that seek to improve their well-being

The Ohio Department of Job and Family Services (ODJFS) releases this Request for Proposals (RFP) for the purpose selecting one state-supported college or university to perform an independent evaluation to rate the success of a pilot program utilizing a Child Placement Level of Care Tool by comparing pilot program data to historical outcomes for children in substitute care.

The purpose of this funding opportunity announcement (FOA) is to stimulate investigations including translational, epidemiologic and clinical studies and trials that improve the understanding, prevention and clinical outcomes of non-HIV infections transmitted from women to their offspring during pregnancy, labor and delivery, and breastfeeding.

This announcement solicits applications for the National Maternal and Child Health Data Resource Center Cooperative Agreement Program. The purpose of the National Maternal and Child Health Data Resource Center (DRC) Cooperative Agreement Program is to support a diverse population of stakeholders in the valid and standardized use of national, state, and community level data as it relates to the health of women, children and families.  This cooperative agreement program will support the maintenance and expansion of a DRC that highlights, describes, and facilitates access to publicly available data with a focus on increasing access to and timely utilization of maternal and child health (MCH) data among state and local governments and non-governmental organizations, including HRSA grantees. 

Proposed fellowships must fit the Grant Foundation's research interests. The foundation currently supports research to understand and improve the everyday settings of youth in the United States. Specifically, the foundation funds studies that enhance the understanding of how youth settings work, how they affect youth development, and how they can be improved; and when, how, and under what conditions research evidence is used in policy and practice that affect youth, and how its use can be improved.

The Sociology Program supports basic research on all forms of human social organization -- societies, institutions, groups and demography -- and processes of individual and institutional change. The Program encourages theoretically focused empirical investigations aimed at improving the explanation of fundamental social processes. Included is research on organizations and organizational behavior, population dynamics, social movements, social groups, labor force participation, stratification and mobility, family, social networks, socialization, gender roles, and the sociology of science and technology. The Program supports both original data collections and secondary data analysis that use the full range of quantitative and qualitative methodological tools. 

The Office of Community Services (OCS) within the Administration for Children and Families (ACF) announces that competing applications will be accepted for grants to administer projects for the national Assets for Independence (AFI) demonstration of Individual Development Accounts (IDAs). The projects will provide IDAs and related services to low-income individuals. A primary feature of each AFI project is that participants save earned income in an IDA to purchase a home, capitalize or expand a business, or fund postsecondary education or training. As a condition of their federal AFI grant, grantees must provide non-federal funds to support their AFI project in an amount at least equal to the Federal AFI grant amount. The 10/27/2014 application due date for FY 2015 funding will be the last application due date for this FOA. After the 10/27/2014 due date, this FOA will be cancelled.  The purpose of this program is to support the delivery of coordinated and comprehensive high-quality voluntary early childhood home visiting services to eligible families.  This program is administered by HRSA in partnership with the Administration for Children and Families (ACF).

The purpose of this FOA is to test a model of quality clinical care addressing childhood obesity for U.S. low-income children, especially those enrolled in or eligible for health care coverage under the Children’s Health Insurance Program (CHIP) or Medicaid. Specifically, the purpose of this FOA is to implement and test the ability of a model of clinical childhood obesity management along with a EHR-referral-based, family-centered pediatric weight management program, to reduce body mass index (BMI) in children with obesity, or overweight with risks (including, e.g., medical and behavioral risks, and family history).

This announcement solicits applications for the MCH Pipeline Training Program (MCHPTP).  the purpose of the MCHPTP is to promote the development of a culturally diverse and representative health care workforce by recruiting undergraduate training students from economically and educationally disadvantaged backgrounds (including racial and ethnic minorities) into maternal and child health (MCH) professions.

The purpose of this funding opportunity announcement (FOA) is to award one cooperative agreement to develop a state-of-the-art foster/adoptive parent training program to include intensive preparation and development components that reflect the capacities required of successful foster/adoptive parents. This is intended to be a product that could be utilized by all states, tribes, and territories and consistently applied wherever implemented. Development of this program would include research on the common characteristics of individuals and their foster/adoptive families that have succeeded in terms of well-being and stability. Common characteristics of families that are more likely to foster and/or adopt harder to place children/youth and are successful and remain committed to the relationship will be identified and integrated into the program. The program would be inclusive of development, training, and capacity needs of individuals/families that are interested in becoming foster parents, as well as those who are interested in fostering with the intention to eventually adopt; therefore many concepts would be in common for foster and adoptive parents. There would be particular focus for foster parents on working on reunification efforts with birth parents and for adoption there would be particular focus on the common adoption issues pertinent to all types of adoption, i.e., child welfare, private domestic, and international. The initial year would entail an extensive review of all current training and preparation programs and include new intervention strategies that foster/adoptive parents should be skilled in as they develop as foster and adoptive parents. The initial year would also involve the basic development of the new intensive training modules.

The Administration for Children and Families (ACF), Office of Planning, Research and Evaluation (OPRE), will solicit applications for Family Strengthening Research Scholars grants to support dissertation research on healthy marriage/responsible fatherhood policy issues. These grants are meant to build capacity in the research field to focus research on questions that have direct implications for healthy marriage/responsible fatherhood policy decision-making and program administration, and to foster mentoring relationships between faculty members and high-quality doctoral students. These grants are intended to address issues of significance to inform policy decisions and solutions, particularly for underserved/understudied populations (e.g., low-income families, minority populations), utilize rigorous research methodology (both primary data collection and secondary data analysis), and help inform the development of future intervention research.

The Family Violence Prevention and Services Discretionary Grants Program will support one national capacity building center focused on delivering comprehensive training and technical assistance to enhance safe, supportive, and sustainable housing for survivors of domestic violence. The Center's primary purpose will be to strengthen coordination between domestic violence, housing, and homeless service providers. More specifically, it will develop resources for integrating responses to the complex and diverse needs of domestic violence survivors throughout the crisis-response system, including assessment, safety planning, voluntary and flexible supportive services, and access to emergency shelter, transitional housing, rapid rehousing, and permanent housing. The Center will also provide training at the local state, and national level regarding victim privacy and confidentiality especially as it relates to data collection. Additionally, it will offer strategies for including domestic violence service providers as full partners in local Continuum of Care (CoC) planning and implementation efforts aimed at delivering client-centered, trauma-informed, and culturally relevant services tailored to the individual needs of survivors of domestic violence and their children. The Center also will document best practices and lessons learned from the domestic violence, homelessness, and housing fields related to rapid rehousing and housing first projects for domestic violence survivors; coordinated assessment; transitional housing; and progressive engagement/supportive services. And finally, the Center will identify promising practices that promote the physical and emotional well-being, resilience, and long term safety, security and housing stability of families impacted by domestic violence.

The Office of Planning, Research and Evaluation (OPRE) of the Administration for Children and Families (ACF) plans to provide funds for Head Start Graduate Student Research Grants to support dissertation research by advanced graduate students who are working in partnership with Head Start programs and with faculty mentors. Competitive applicants will 1) demonstrate a collaborative partnership with their program partners, and 2) pursue research questions that directly inform local, State, or Federal policy relevant to multiple early care and education practices. Applicants should consider pursuing data collection across contexts, including child care, pre-k, home-visiting programs, Head Start, Early Head Start, and/or others. Applicants are expected to demonstrate an established partnership with their early care and education program partners that should be apparent throughout the research plan, from development and refinement of the research questions through the proposed data collection, interpretation, and dissemination.

The United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) Food and Nutrition Service (FNS), through the Special Supplemental Nutrition Program for Women, Infants, and Children (WIC), is responsible for providing Federal grants to States for supplemental foods, health care referrals, and nutrition education (including breastfeeding promotion and support) for low-income pregnant, breastfeeding, and non-breastfeeding postpartum women, and to infants and children up to age five who are found to be at nutritional risk. The legislative authority for this grant announcement is contained in the Child Nutrition Act of 1966 Section 17 (g) (5)[1] as amended and Section 1472 of the National Agriculture Research, Extension, and Teaching Policy Act of 1977, 7 U.S.C. 3318, codified at 7 CFR 2.19(a)(3)(x) in January 2009. This is an announcement of the availability of funds for one new cooperative agreement for FY 2017-2019 with a public or private Academic or Research Institution. In this funding cycle, the USDA anticipates awarding up to $1,000,000 in grant funding to support the creation of a Participant Research Innovation Laboratory for administering and awarding sub-grants for researcher-initiated projects that develop and test strategies to encourage retention of children in WIC. Developed strategies should focus on WIC service delivery sites or retail environments. Further, strategies must acknowledge the social and cultural diversity of WIC participants and those eligible for the Program.

US CDC will, through this FOA, fund four (4) awards to build and improve upon a number of HIV community care and service activities supported by US CDC, including community-based care for adult and OVC activities managed by implementing partners under six separate agreements that are ending in March 2016. These awards will also strengthen the capacity of communities and families in high-prevalence areas of Cote d’Ivoire to ensure the well-being of their most vulnerable members, including OVC, PLHIV and most at risk groups (adolescent girls, adult Men and mobile population) in Cote d'Ivoire. This FOA is intended to strengthen HIV/AIDS retention and adherence in care and treatment among PLHIV including children using an Optimum linkage between facility-based programs/services and community efforts through collaborating with NGOs and relevant Government entities. It will enhance community-based organizations' capacities to increase linkage from prevention activities to HIV services.
