Fellows receive an annual stipend of $30,000 for up to two years for completion of their dissertation and related research at their academic institution. Up to fifteen fellowships are awarded annually. Fellows must be enrolled in a doctoral program at an accredited academic institution in the United States and are selected from a range of academic disciplines, including but not limited to social work, public health, medicine, public policy, education, economics, psychology, and epidemiology.

This notice solicits applications for Strengthen the Evidence for Maternal and Child Health Programs, the purpose of which is to improve the health and well-being of women and children in the United States by supporting the implementation of evidence-based/evidence-informed strategies for the Title V Maternal and Child Health (MCH) Services Block Grant program (hereafter referred to as Title V MCH Block Grant). By supporting states with expert consultation, technical assistance, and resources, the program strenghtens the states' ability to improve the health of children and families.

This funding opportunity announcement (FOA) issued by the Eunice Kennedy Shriver National Institute of Child Health and Human Development (NICHD) encourages small research project grants (R03) investigating the incidence, course, and outcomes of pregnancy among women with disabilities. Areas of interest also include studies to inform preconceptional and antenatal counseling and strategies for addressing barriers to prenatal care, and management of pregnancy, the puerperium, and the transition to parenthood in order to optimize outcomes for women with physical, intellectual and developmental, and/or sensory disabilities and their families. Applicants are encouraged to include women with disabilities and members of the community in the design and conduct of their research.

NIFA requests applications for the REACH for fiscal year (FY) 2017 to provide high-quality resources for the U.S. Department of Defense (DoD) in the form of research and professional development tools across the spectrum of family support, resilience, and readiness.

The purpose of this program, which is consistent with language contained in the Joint Explanatory Statement to the Consolidated Appropriations Act of FY 2017, is to fund a study focused on improving child health through a statewide system of early childhood developmental screenings and interventions. This includes improving population level early childhood developmental health outcomes in a state with significant risk factors for poor child health status such as high rates of poverty among children under age 5, high rates of low birthweight infants, and low rates of early childhood developmental screenings. This goal will be achieved through the implementation of a high quality statewide early childhood developmental health system, an evaluative study on best practices, polices and innovations that can serve as a model for other states with high needs, and the development and utilization of an early childhood cross-systems workforce program.

The CoC Program (24 CFR part 578) is designed to promote a community-wide commitment to the goal of ending homelessness; to provide funding for efforts by nonprofit providers, States, and local governments to quickly re-house homeless individuals, families, persons fleeing domestic violence, and youth while minimizing the trauma and dislocation caused by homelessness; to promote access to and effective utilization of mainstream programs by homeless; and to optimize self-sufficiency among those experiencing homelessness.

1) Access to Services: The foundation provides funding for community organizations and schools that are providing vital resources and actively assisting children with autism spectrum disorder and their families through education and technology, advocacy programs, diagnostic and clinical services, direct family support, safety equipment, emergency care, respite services, and other opportunities that will enhance the quality of life for those affected. 2) Active Lifestyle: The foundation provides support for recreational and sports programs, aquatic programs, social skills training, family events and summer camps for all individuals on the autism spectrum. 3) Adult Community-Based Services: The foundation supports opportunities in the areas of job training, vocational skills programs, employment, housing, transportation, and healthcare delivery for adults on the autism spectrum.

This Funding Opportunity Announcement (FOA) will fund a Quality Improvement Center (QIC) that will support demonstration sites that establish or enhance collaborative community court teams to design, implement and test approaches to meet the requirements of the Child Abuse Prevention and Treatment Act (CAPTA) of 2010 as amended by the Comprehensive Addiction and Recovery Act of 2016 (CARA) and that better meet the needs of infants and families affected by substance use disorder and prenatal substance exposure. This FOA is intended to build on and enhance the basic collaborative approach offered by the Quality Improvement Center for Research-Based Infant Toddler Court Teams (QIC-ITCT) to specifically address the needs of infants, young children, and their parents or caregivers affected by substance use disorder. The FOA is intended to produce sustainable approaches and strategies that will be useful nationally in addressing this epidemic.The QIC must support demonstration sites in assessing their current capacity to collaboratively address the health and substance use disorder treatment needs of infants, young children and their parents or caregivers, and create or enhance a continuous quality improvement approach for ensuring that local entities work effectively across systems and best understand whether and in what manner they are providing services in accordance with CARA's state requirements. The demonstration sites must involve intensive collaboration among the child welfare agency, Court Improvement Program, local courts, legal community, substance abuse treatment providers, preventative service providers, mental health providers, medical providers, and other key stakeholders.

The Family and Youth Services Bureau (FYSB) supports a national Training and Technical Assistance effort designed to enhance and promote the continuous evidence based quality improvement of services with a focus on the social and emotional well being of children, youth and families served by FYSB funded runaway and homeless youth grantees. FYSB expects to award one cooperative agreement to enhance the programmatic and administrative capacities of public and private agencies to provide services to the targeted populations. Applicants will be expected to provide evidence of their ability to provide services to all grantees of the Administration of Children and Families (ACF) Federal geographic regional locations. Applicants must serve all ten ACF Federal Regions and may include subcontractors to provide services that will cover the regional multi-State areas. This funding opportunity is a 36 month project with three 12-month budget periods.

The purpose of this forecasted funding opportunity announcement (FOA) is to provide competitive grant funds for up to 5 years for projects authorized by the Child and Family Services Improvement and Innovation Act (Pub. L. 112-34). This Act includes a targeted grants program (section 437(f)) that directs the Secretary of Health and Human Services to reserve funds for regional partnership grants (RPGs) to improve the well-being of children affected by substance abuse. These targeted grants will be awarded to regional partnerships that provide, through interagency collaboration and integration of programs and services, activities and services that are designed to increase the well-being of, improve permanency outcomes for, and enhance the safety of children who are in out-of-home placements or are at risk of entering out-of-home placements as a result of a parent's or caretaker's substance abuse.

This FOA, formerly HHS-2017-ACF-OPRE-PD-1209 will now be listed under HHS-2017-ACF-OPRE-PR-1209. The Administration for Children and Families (ACF), Office of Planning, Research and Evaluation (OPRE), will solicit applications for Family Strengthening Scholars grants to support dissertation research on healthy marriage policy issues. These grants are meant to build capacity in the research field to focus research on questions that have direct implications for healthy marriage policy decision-making and program administration, and to foster mentoring relationships between faculty members and high-quality doctoral students. These grants are intended to address issues of significance to inform policy decisions and solutions, particularly for underserved/understudied populations (e.g., low-income families, minority populations), utilize rigorous research methodology (both primary data collection and secondary data analysis), and help inform the development of future intervention research.

ED projects are expected to actively recruit individuals with low income to fill the positions created by CED-funded development activities, to assist those individuals to successfully hold those jobs and to ensure that the businesses and jobs created remain viable for at least one year after the end of the grant period. CED-funded projects can be non-construction or construction projects, however, short-term construction jobs associated with preparing for business startup or expansion are not counted when determining the number of jobs created under the CED program as they are designed to be temporary in nature. OCS is encouraging applications from CDCs to target rural areas and underserved areas in states without current projects. Furthermore, OCS is encouraging projects that align with the Promise Zones Initiative or Choice Neighborhoods Program.

The Administration for Children and Families (ACF), Administration on Children, Youth and Families (ACYF), Family and Youth Services Bureau (FYSB) support organizations and communities that work every day to put an end to youth homelessness, adolescent pregnancy, and domestic violence. FYSB's Runaway and Homeless Youth (RHY) program is accepting applications for the Basic Center Program (BCP). The purpose of the BCP is to provide temporary shelter and counseling services to youth who have left home without permission of their parents or guardians, have been forced to leave home, or other homeless youth who might otherwise end up in the law enforcement or in the child welfare, mental health, or juvenile justice systems.

FYSB is forecasting a funding opportunity announcement for the TLP and for MGH for a five year project period. The TLP and MGH projects will work to implement, enhance, and/or support promising intervention strategies for the effective transition of homeless youth (for the purposes of MGH projects, homeless youth and their dependent children to sustainable living. Both projects must provide safe, stable, and appropriate shelter for up to 21 months and comprehensive services that supports the transition of homeless youth to stable living.

Cooperative agreements awarded under this Funding Opportunity Announcement will support projects to state, county, and tribal Temporary Assistance for Needy Families (TANF) programs to plan and develop a comprehensive approach for integrating innovative strategies in one of two select activities: (1) to increase the use of innovative client coaching to foster the success of TANF participants in securing and retaining work; or (2) to integrate career pathway, occupation-focused employment models into TANF programs. The overall purpose for the programs, services, and activities supported by this funding is to improve the employment outcomes of TANF participants. In addition, the program is intended to foster connections and partnerships between state TANF agencies and local scholars/ researchers interested in TANF management and policy. Successful applicants will participate in a TANF Policy Academy for Innovative Employment Strategies as a part of the concept development process for implementation and assessment.

The Administration for Children and Families (ACF), Office of Planning, Research, and Evaluation (OPRE) is soliciting applications for Behavioral Interventions Scholars grants to support dissertation research by advanced graduate students who are using behavioral science approaches to examine specific research questions of relevance to social service programs and policies. These grants are meant to build capacity in the research field to apply a behavioral lens to issues facing poor and vulnerable families in the United States, and to foster mentoring relationships between faculty members and high-quality doctoral students. Applicants are required to demonstrate the applicability of their research to practice or policy serving low-income children, adults, and families, especially those that seek to improve their well-being.

The Caplan Foundation for Early Childhood is intended to be an incubator of promising research and development projects that may ultimately enhance the development, health, safety, education or quality of life of children from infancy through seven years of age across the country.Each of its grants is made with the expectation that a successful project outcome will be of significant interest to other investigators or developers, within the grantee's field of endeavor, and will be amenable to beneficial application or adaptation elsewhere. In essence, the foundation's goal is to provide seed money for those imaginative endeavors, addressed to the needs of young children, which appear most likely to bear fruit on a national scale.
