The purpose of the Field Initiated (FI) Projects program is to generate new knowledge through research or to develop methods, procedures, and rehabilitation technology that maximize the full inclusion and integration into society, employment, independent living, family support, and economic and social self-sufficiency of individuals with disabilities, especially individuals with the most severe disabilities. Another purpose of the FI Projects program is to improve the effectiveness of services authorized under the Rehabilitation Act of 1973, as amended. In carrying out a development activity under an FI Projects development grant, a grantee must use knowledge and understanding gained from research to create materials, devices, systems, methods, measures, techniques, tools, prototypes, processes, or intervention protocols, that are beneficial to the target population. In carrying out a research activity under an FI Projects research grant, a grantee must identify one or more hypotheses or research questions and, based on the hypotheses or research questions identified, perform an intensive, systematic study directed toward producing (1) new scientific knowledge, or (2) better understanding of the subject, problem studied, or body of knowledge. Please note that this will be the funding opportunity for FI Research proposals.

The NIH Research Project Grant supports a discrete, specified, circumscribed project in areas representing the specific interests and competencies of the investigator(s). This Parent Funding Opportunity Announcement is for basic science experimental studies involving humans, referred to in NOT-OD-18-212 as prospective basic science studies involving human participants. These studies fall within the NIH definition of a clinical trial and also meet the definition of basic research. Types of studies that should submit under this FOA include studies that prospectively assign human participants to conditions (i.e., experimentally manipulate independent variables) and that assess biomedical or behavioral outcomes in humans for the purpose of understanding the fundamental aspects of phenomena without specific application towards processes or products in mind. Studies conducted with specific applications toward processes or products in mind should submit under the appropriate Clinical Trials Required FOA. The proposed project must be related to the programmatic interests of one or more of the participating NIH Institutes and Centers (ICs) based on their scientific missions.

The Miami Initiative for Advancing, Mentoring and Investing in Women (M.I.A.M.I. WOMEN) awarded nearly $104,000 in Giving Circle grants to students and faculty during the annual Leadership Symposium on April 12, 2018. Finalists pitched their projects the previous evening at the inaugural Hawk Tank event. This grant fund is open again for the 2018-2019 cycle.

The proposed project must be related to the programmatic interests of one or more of the participating NIH Institutes and Centers (ICs) based on their scientific missions. Applicants should note that some ICs (see Related Notices) only accept applications proposing mechanistic studies that meet NIH's definition of a clinical trial through this funding opportunity announcement.

The Office of Planning Research and Evaluation (OPRE) within the Administration for Children and Families (ACF) in the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) plans to award up to ten cooperative agreements to fund research to conduct secondary data analysis of archived data, specifically the Building Strong Families (BSF), Supporting Healthy Marriage (SHM), and Parents and Children Together (PACT) datasets. These datasets are from large-scale federal evaluation impact studies, which addressed questions related to healthy marriage and/or responsible fatherhood. Successful applicants will demonstrate a familiarity with the proposed data for their analysis and an adequate understanding of the variables, sampling, methodology, etc. used to construct the dataset necessary for completion of the work proposed in the application. Proposed research should address topics relevant to strengthening families to improve the lives of children and parents, as well as promote economic stability. Topics of interest include, but may not be limited to the following: mediators of healthy marriage, relationship education, and/or fatherhood programs; measurement issues related to healthy marriage, relationship education and/or fatherhood programs with low-income families; or father involvement in low-income families. .

This Notice of Funding Opportunity (NOFO) will support a randomized controlled trial (RCT) to evaluate the effectiveness of adult immunization quality improvement interventions to increase influenza and Tdap vaccination coverage among pregnant women in at least two gynecologic/obstetric (OB/GYN) practices (that stock influenza and Tdap vaccines) within a large health system in one or more state, local, or territorial public health jurisdiction(s).

The goal of "Copilaria Mea" is to increase the number of children living within appropriate, permanent, and protective family care and reduce the number of children growing up in institutional care. Protective family care envisions care free of deprivation, exploitation and danger. This implies supporting the GOM in completing the deinstitutionalization process and preventing future institutionalization of children through improved policy and regulation; development of services to strengthen family care and prevent unnecessary separation; strengthened gatekeeping; modification of social norms and behaviors within the family that drive family separation; support for implementation of the country's Child Care Reform, with an emphasis on alternative care; and creating sustainable financing models for alternative care models to include the redirection of funds currently financing state child care institutions.

USAID/Mozambique intends to award a USD39 million, five-year cooperative agreement to support the Government of the Republic of Mozambique (GRM) to improve maternal, neonatal, and child health (MNCH) outcomes by increasing the productivity and efficiency of facility-based care, with a focus on improving client satisfaction and outcomes. This will be achieved by assisting the province of Nampula to establish itself as a model province for improving provision and increasing utilization of high-quality, high-impact, gender-responsive, patient-centered MNCH health services in a sustainable manner; and supporting the central Ministry of Health (MOH) to incorporate the lessons learned from Nampula into a national system for Quality Improvement.

The purpose of this Funding Opportunity Announcement (FOA) is to encourage research that would develop and validate new screening methods for autism spectrum disorders (ASD) that can be used in infancy (0-12 months of age). This FOA uses the R21 grant mechanism, while RFA- MH-19-120 uses the R01 grant mechanism. Applicants with strong preliminary data proposing validation, refinement or final stages of testing of existing tools or methods may wish to use the R01 mechanism. Pilot or exploratory projects with minimal preliminary data, or those proposing early-stage feasibility testing, may be most appropriate for this FOA (R21 mechanism).

A new funding program is proposed to accelerate the testing, evaluation, and implementation of innovative approaches to human services interoperability and data sharing. Funding would support local or state pilot projects to identify effective and efficient solutions, and develop model practices for broader adoption. The goal is to provide agencies with resources and technical support to experiment and innovate, particularly in challenge areas previously identified by the states through the ACF regional meeting and ReImagine HHS initiatives. OPRE technical assistance will also be provided to grantees to help document outcomes and promote replication. Providing agencies with financial incentives and directed assistance, even moderate in scope, can often have an outsized impact on efforts to strengthen and modernize service delivery. With this grant, the center will fund and study innovative initiatives that: 1. Undertake research activities that entail implementing and evaluating community-based efforts to fight the opioid overdose epidemic; and 2. Support and promote the partnership of law enforcement and public health agencies, whose collaboration is critical to reducing overdose and other harms of opioid (mis)use.

The project funded under this proposed announcement seeks applications from public and private nonprofit entities for one cooperative agreement for family planning research. The purpose of this family planning research cooperative agreement is to collect and analyze data on issues of interest to the family planning field. This cooperative agreement will fund a project to provide research in the biomedical, contraceptive development, behavioral and program implementation fields related to family planning and population. Analysis and research may include, but not limited to the following: the current services provided by family planning centers across the U.
