The landscape of jobs and work is changing at unprecedented speed, driven by the development of new technologies that have moved from the factory floor to an expanding array of knowledge and service occupations. These changes promise benefits to the Nation in the creation of new industries and occupations, increased productivity, opportunity for innovation, and sustained global leadership. But there are risks as well. Technological advances scale back the need for some workers, and in some cases, eliminate job sectors, with consequences to displaced workers who must adapt to emerging new technologies and the changing economy through retraining and reskilling. The Future of Work at the Human-Technology Frontier (FW-HTF) is one of 10 new and far-sighted Big Ideas for Future Investments announced by NSF in 2016. NSF aims to respond to the challenges and opportunities of the changing landscape of jobs and work by supporting convergent research to: understand and develop the human-technology partnership; design new technologies to augment human performance; illuminate the emerging socio-technological landscape and understand the risks and benefits of new technologies; and foster lifelong and pervasive learning with technology. In order to be nimble and responsive to new opportunities and challenges as they are recognized, focus areas for the FW-HTF solicitation, the centerpiece of the FW-HTF Big Idea, may change from year to year.

The Ohio Department of Job and Family Services' (ODJFS) announces the release of Request for Proposals (RFP) number JFSR1617158114 for the purpose of competitively selecting one state-funded Ohio college or university to conduct a formal evaluation study of the Wage Pathway grant project (Project) administered by the ODJFS Office of Workforce Development (OWD) under a Workforce Innovation Fund grant awarded by the United States Department of Labor (DOL). The Project will pilot the Wage Pathway Model, which is a skills-focused approach to place low-income, low-skill youth and young adults aged 16-24 in occupations that will lead to in-demand jobs. The selected vendor will design, plan, and implement methodologies, tools, and processes to evaluate the results of the Wage Pathway Model on the employment outcomes of Project participants. This opportunity is only available to state-funded Ohio colleges and universities. Consideration will be given to those with proposals that effectively demonstrate the capacity, experience, and expertise to effectively and accurately complete the deliverables and other activities described herein in a timely manner.

The Russell Sage Foundation's program on the Future of Work supports research on the causes and consequences of changes in the quality of jobs for less- and moderately-skilled workers in the United States. We seek research proposals that will broaden our understanding of the role of changes in employer practices, the nature of the labor market and public policies on the employment, earnings, and the quality of jobs of American workers. We are especially interested in funding analyses of original qualitative and quantitative data sources, and novel uses of existing sources of data to address important questions about the interplay of market and non-market forces in shaping the wellbeing of workers, today and in the future.

The Future of Work at the Human-Technology Frontier (FW-HTF), one of the Big Ideas, is one mechanism by which NSF is responding to the challenges and opportunities for the future of jobs and work. The overarching vision is to support convergent research to understand and develop the human-technology partnership, design new technologies to augment human performance, illuminate the emerging socio-technological landscape, understand the risks and benefits of new technologies, understand and influence the impact of artificial intelligence on workers and work, and foster lifelong and pervasive learning.

EDA is committed to fostering connected, innovation-centric economic sectors which support the conversion of research into products and services, businesses, and ultimately jobs through entrepreneurship. See SWTIA § 27. The DOC FY 2014-2018 Strategic Plan sets forth the strategic goal of working within and across ecosystems throughout the country to develop regional innovation strategies, including regional innovation clusters. The Institute for Humane Studies (IHS) is offering semester-long sabbaticals for the study, research, and teaching of classical liberal ideas including private property, free speech, individual rights, open markets and other precepts. Sabbatical positions will be offered in the 2018-2020 academic years, and sabbaticals must be taken during the designated periods. USAID/Haiti has had success supporting high-potential MSMEs with advisory services and matching grants, as well as in strengthening high-potential value chains, most recently with its Leveraging Effective Applications of Direct investment (LEAD) and the Local Enterprise Value chain Enhancement (LEVE) programs. But the Mission is interested in exploring existing and new market-led and cost-effective ways of supporting these enterprises, and to gather data to help determine which of these is most efficient and cost-effective. Problem Statement: Haitian Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSME) are critical to Haiti's economy. Not only do Haitian MSMEs account for over 80% of current Haitian employment. But more importantly, it is from within the MSME community that Haiti's future success stories will emerge - the enterprises which generate growth, create jobs and lead Haiti to a modern, more prosperous economy.

To promote and encourage Ohio's workforce development and job growth through educational training and the retraining of individuals in programs related to employment opportunities. Institutions must qualify as eligible institutions, and their respective workforce training and education programs must be approved by the Chancellor in order for students enrolled in these programs to be eligible for loans under the Loan Program. The funds awarded to institutions will be disbursed in the form of loans to borrowers (students enrolled in approved workforce training programs at participating institutions). Applications must demonstrate that completion of the workforce training program will directly impact the ability of borrowers to advance their career and education. All eligible institutions (as described below) which offer workforce training program(s) (as described below) may be eligible to submit an application to the Ohio Department of Higher Education in compliance with the criteria set forth below. If the respondent's application is acceptable to the Ohio Department of Higher Education, then an approved eligible institution will be approved to solicit students enrolled in approved OhioMeansJobs Workforce training program. Each enrolled student may apply for a loan from the OhioMeansJobs Workforce Revolving Loan Program ("Loan Program"). The participating institution in cooperation with the Treasurer of State will receive the loan proceeds for enrolled students who applied for and are accepted into the Loan Program. The participating institution will not be liable for the repayment of the loan made to the enrolled student. The Treasurer of State, as loan servicer, will determine the rate and terms of each loan.

The Bureau of Near Eastern Affairs Office of Assistance Coordination (NEA/AC) announces a new Notice of Funding Opportunity (NOFO) aimed at promoting social and private entrepreneurship in the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) region by partnering with its Middle East Partnership Initiative (MEPI) alumni. Alumni networks can be effective social networks that generate both a higher level of interaction and longer-lived relationships, and ultimately improve social and private entrepreneurial performance by at least 8% more than other non-connected initiatives, according to a 2010 Harvard Business Review study. The purpose of the Aquaculture Research program is to support the development of an environmentally and economically sustainable aquaculture industry in the U.S. and generate new science-based information and innovation to address industry constraints. Over the long term, results of projects supported by this program may help improve the profitability of the U.S. aquaculture industry, reduce the U.S. trade deficit, increase domestic food security, provide markets for U.S.-produced grain products, increase domestic aquaculture business investment opportunities, and provide more jobs for rural and coastal America.
