The PAF program provides support for States and tribes to develop and implement programs to improve the educational, health, and social outcomes for expectant and parenting teens, women, fathers and their families. The PAF program provides funding to States and tribes to establish, maintain, or operate life-affirming services for expectant and parenting teens, women, fathers and their families in high schools, community service centers, and Institutions of Higher Education.

The Ohio Department of Education has administered the 21st Century Community Learning Center's program since 2002. The passage of the Every Student Succeeds Act (ESSA) of 2015 amended ESEA and altered the focus of the 21st CCLC grant. The program now focuses on funding expanded learning time (ELT) and out-of-school time (OST), both of which align academic services to the identified needs of students and state academic standards. ESSA broadened the allowable activities to include such things as student apprenticeships. The purpose of the 21st CCLC program is threefold. All funded programs must: 1. Provide opportunities for academic enrichment to assist students in meeting the state academic standards; 2. Offer students access to a broad array of additional services, such as those that focus on youth development, social emotional learning, civic engagement, and nutritional and physical health; and 3. Offer adult family members of program participants opportunities for educational development and engagement in their children's education. Eligible applicants may be local education agencies and community-based organizations. These may include faith-based organizations, institutions of higher education, city or county government agencies, for-profit corporations and other public or private entities.

The project funded under this proposed announcement seeks applications from public and private nonprofit entities for one grant for family planning research. The purpose of this grant is to collect and analyze data on issues of interest to the family planning field. Analysis and research may include, but are not limited to, the following: current services provided by Title X clinics and other family planning centers across the U. S. and how services have changed over time; how Title X clinics and other family planning centers clinics are assessing and taking steps towards assuring their long-term sustainability and how this has changed over time; current health insurance status of women and men seen at Title X clinics and other family planning centers and how this has changed over time; and the sexual risk behaviors and social support networks of clients seen at Title X clinics and other family planning centers and how this has changed over time. Through this announcement, the Administration for Children and Families solicits applications from public or private non-profit organizations, including community-based and faith-based organizations, or for-profit organizations that wish to compete for funds that are available to provide Head Start and/or Early Head Start services to children and families residing in the City of Houston in Harris County, Texas. Funds in the amount of $21,244,097 annually will be available to provide Head Start and/or Early Head Start program services to eligible children and their families. Fahs-Beck Fund for Research and Experimentation is accepting applications from behavioral or psychological research studies based in the United States or Canada. Through its Faculty/Post-Doctoral Fellows program, the fund will award grants of up to $20,000 in support of studies aimed at developing, refining, evaluating, or disseminating innovative interventions designed to prevent or ameliorate major social, psychological, behavioral, or public health problems affecting children, adults, couples, families, or communities. The fund will also consider studies that have the potential for adding significantly to knowledge about such problems. Projects must be focused on the United States or Canada or on a comparison between the U.S. or Canada and one (or more) other country. To be eligible, applicants must be a faculty member at an accredited college or university or an individual affiliated with an accredited human service organization that is tax exempt under Section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code. In addition, the principal investigator must have an earned doctorate in a relevant discipline and relevant experience.

The purpose of this cooperative agreement opportunity is to support the creation and/or maintenance of a transdisciplinary, multisite Research Network that will accelerate the translation of developmental science into MCH practice, promote scientific collaboration, and develop additional research capacity in the fields of adolescent and young adult (ages 10-25) health. A Research Network is a collaboration designed to conduct research across multiple sites, resulting in a greater collective impact. One institution serves as the primary awardee, and oversees and facilitates all Network activities. The Network must include researchers who study adolescence and young adulthood from a range of disciplines, including developmental neuroscience, behavioral and social sciences, and the medical and/or allied health fields, reflecting attention to the health and development of the whole person as well as to health care services for members of these two age groups.

The goal of "Copilaria Mea" is to increase the number of children living within appropriate, permanent, and protective family care and reduce the number of children growing up in institutional care. Protective family care envisions care free of deprivation, exploitation and danger. This implies supporting the GOM in completing the deinstitutionalization process and preventing future institutionalization of children through improved policy and regulation; development of services to strengthen family care and prevent unnecessary separation; strengthened gatekeeping; modification of social norms and behaviors within the family that drive family separation; support for implementation of the country's Child Care Reform, with an emphasis on alternative care; and creating sustainable financing models for alternative care models to include the redirection of funds currently financing state child care institutions.

The purpose of this Notice of Funding Opportunity (NOFO) is to reduce risky alcohol use among women of childbearing age through system-level implementation of alcohol screening and brief intervention (SBI) in health systems providing women’s health services. Risky alcohol use can result in a variety of negative health and social consequences, such as motor vehicle crashes, intimate partner violence, and fetal alcohol spectrum disorders. It is costly, results in over 88,000 deaths annually, and can affect serious medical conditions, such as hypertension, liver disease and certain types of cancer. Health professionals are uniquely positioned to intervene with patients with acute and chronic health conditions caused or exacerbated by risky alcohol use. Alcohol SBI implementation efforts within health systems will focus on development and implementation of: a training and technical assistance plan; alcohol SBI protocols in primary care clinics; system-level approaches that facilitate uptake (e.g., electronic health record integration and performance metrics); an evaluation plan assessing feasibility and impact of system-level implementation; a dissemination plan on promising models and lessons learned; and a sustainability plan. Expected performance outcomes include documenting provider/clinic readiness to conduct alcohol SBI, documenting implementation barriers and proposed solutions, tracking clinic-level data on alcohol SBI, and assessing the use of system-level strategies.

The Administration for Children and Families (ACF), Office of Planning, Research, and Evaluation (OPRE) is soliciting applications for Behavioral Interventions Scholars grants to support dissertation research by advanced graduate students who are using behavioral science approaches to examine specific research questions of relevance to social service programs and policies. These grants are meant to build capacity in the research field to apply a behavioral lens to issues facing poor and vulnerable families in the United States, and to foster mentoring relationships between faculty members and high-quality doctoral students. Applicants are required to demonstrate the applicability of their research to practice or policy serving low-income children, adults, and families, especially those that seek to improve their well-being.

The Organization for Autism Research is inviting applications for its Graduate Research Grant program. Established in 2004, the grant program is intended to encourage and support students conducting research pursuant to graduate and post-graduate studies in disciplines related to assessment, intervention, and support of learners with autism spectrum disorders and their families. Grants of up to $2,000 will be awarded for projects related to the analysis, evaluation, or comparison of assessment models, treatment models, or service systems; applied aspects of early and/or school-based education, behavioral, or communication intervention; adult issues such as containing education, employment, housing models and later intervention; and/or issues related to family support, social and community integration, and assessment and intervention with challenging behavior. Priority will be given to studies that will likely produce practical and clearly objective results that may aid parents, families, professionals, and people with autism to make more fully informed choices that will lead to healthier and happier lives. International students are eligible to apply.

This notice announces the opportunity to apply for funding under the Maternal and Child Health Interdisciplinary Education in Pediatric Pulmonary Centers program (PPC program). The purpose of the PPC program is to improve the health status of infants, children, and adolescents1 with chronic respiratory conditions, sleep issues, and other related special health care needs. The specific objectives of the PPC program are to: (1) Provide interdisciplinary leadership training at the graduate and post-graduate levels in pediatric pulmonary medicine, nursing, nutrition, social work, and at least one additional discipline; (2) Engage with families as full partners to support family-centered practice, policies, and research; (3) Increase access to health services through innovative methods, such as telehealth, collaborative systems of care (i.e., medical homes), and distance-learning modalities; (4) Provide technical assistance, consultation, continuing education (CE), and subject matter expertise to facilitate academic-practice partnerships; and (5) Support diverse and underrepresented trainees and faculty, and increase the cultural competence and skills of trainees and faculty to address health disparities in underserved communities.

The vision of the Episcopal Health Foundation is a diocese where people, parishes, institutions, and communities are connected in service to creating healthy communities for all. According to the foundation, a strong, responsive caregiver-child relationship and the infant brain development that results from that relationship maximize a child's physical development, communication, and social skills and strengthen his/her ability to mitigate the long-term effects of stressful life events and circumstances.
