The Arts Envoy Program annually enables approximately 200 American artists and cultural experts (known as Arts Envoys) to travel abroad for individual programs or as part of an ensemble or group to engage and consult with key foreign audiences through performances, workshops, meetings, seminars, and appearances in foreign media. By addressing topics identified and developed by U.S. Missions (generally U.S. Embassies and Consulates) worldwide in cooperation with ECA, the program promotes an understanding of U.S. policies and institutions, and the political, economic, social, and cultural context from which they arise. Arts Envoy individuals and groups are programmed in one or more countries with a variety of audiences from a wide range of disciplines in the cultural arena, including in the performing and visual arts, and in arts management, as well as with museum professionals and other cultural experts. Rabbit Island Residency programs provide time and space to investigate and challenge creative practices in a wilderness environment. Artists live and work on the island for 2-4 weeks, engaging directly with the landscape, responding to notions of conservation, ecology, and sustainability via their research and cultural practices. The residency reflects on the American continent's four hundred year history of settlement and division of land, and stems from the idea that in a developed society intelligent organization of wild spaces is one of the most civilized things we can pursue. The island itself, an unsettled and undivided space, enables artists to present commentary on these ideas, creating interpretations and solutions to issues of global importance-climate change, loss of natural habitat, the value of pristine watersheds, the environmental implications of entrepreneurship, and so forth. Modern understanding of our natural reality, as well as our cause-and-effect relationship to it, dictates a need for principles worthy of our time. If artists do not create the work that defines this new space, who will? Art is perhaps the purest form of creation, and serves fittingly as a symbol for all human constructions.

The United States Department of State, Embassy in Brasília - Brazil, announces a notification of funding opportunity (NOFO) to support the development and implementation of a program to support the participation of American artists at cultural festivals and other special events in Sao Paulo's consular district with up to US$40,000 in FY2018 for a project period not to exceed two years. The preliminary start date for this activity is October 15, 2018, and one award is anticipated as a result of this NOFO. However, should both parties consider the results of this exchange to be positive - and also subject to availability of funds - we may agree to renew this NOFO for up to two additional years. We are seeking proposals for the development and implementation of a program to support the participation of American artists at cultural festivals and other special events in Sao Paulo's consular district, which comprises the states of Sao Paulo, Parana, Mato Grosso do Sul. By ensuring American representation at cultural events and artistic performances, the program contributes to engage local audiences in understanding U.S. values, as well as to and generate and expand connections between American and Brazilian institutions and individuals.

Preservation Assistance Grants help small and mid-sized institutions-such as libraries, museums, historical societies, archival repositories, cultural organizations, town and county records offices, and colleges and universities-improve their ability to preserve and care for their significant humanities collections. These may include special collections of books and journals, archives and manuscripts, prints and photographs, moving images, sound recordings, architectural and cartographic records, decorative and fine art objects, textiles, archaeological and ethnographic artifacts, furniture, historical objects, and digital materials.

T.R.I.B.E. - a new network of residency spaces in the Balkans and East Europe, dedicated to research and production of Transitory Art, launches its first open call for artistic and research residencies to take place between March 2013 and April 2014. TRIBE network aims to examine vital cultural, political and social questions in a way that will produce fresh perspectives via research and artistic outputs. WHAT IS A TRIBE RESIDENCY? A TRIBE residency is a production or research residency for artists and researchers taking place in Ljubljana, Prague, Istanbul, Nicosia & other locations. TRIBE is a network interested in forming a mobile group of artists and researchers to participate in discussions, interventions and innovations related to the first TRIBE theme: Transition & Utopia (more information on the TRIBE theme can be found below). Works produced will be exhibited in two exhibitions taking place in Istanbul and Ljubljana. Common events for TRIBE group, workshops and a symposium for researchers will take place in Nicosia.

Our mission is to improve learning and enrichment opportunities for children. We do this by supporting and sharing effective ideas and practices in five major initiatives: School Leadership: Strengthening the leadership of principals and other key figures to improve student achievement. After School: Helping cities improve access to high-quality after-school programs through coordinating the work of government agencies, private funders, nonprofits and others groups. Summer and Expanded Learning: Supporting school district and other efforts to expand learning time during summer and the school day or year. Arts Education: Expanding arts learning opportunities for children and teens in school and beyond. Audience Development for the Arts: Supporting arts organizations to develop and test ideas for reaching new audiences so that many more people might enjoy the benefits of the arts.

The U.S. Embassy in Ljubljana, Slovenia announces this Notice of Funding Opportunity (NOFO) for Slovenian cultural institutions and civil society organizations. The Embassy continues to offer grants for well-conceived and managed projects that encourage and promote cultural and artistic cooperation, collaboration and exchange between the United States and Slovenia. Projects should: promote the values and culture of American society; present American history, society, art, or other culture to Slovenian audiences; and/or promote cultural cooperation between Slovenia and the United States. Typically grant awards range from $3,000 to $5,000, though some exceptional projects are funded up to $10,000, and supplement other funding. The deadline for submitting proposals is August 1, 2017. New grantees will be given priority over previous grantees. Funding for cultural grants is decided through a competitive application process, and each proposal is reviewed by an internal embassy committee.

The Public Affairs Section of the U.S. Consulate General in Kolkata (PAS Kolkata) seeks proposals for a project entitled "EcoCinema: A Greener World through Art." Under this project, a grantee will organize and implement a two-day film and arts festival in Kolkata followed by a tour in a minimum of three cities, focused on generating awareness on creating a sustainable environment in East India and promoting sustainable environmental practices. The selected grantee will initiate a competition for films (both short and long form) and artworks such as paintings, photographs and murals to be showcased during a two-day long film and arts festival entitled "EcoCinema: A Greener World through Art." Artworks should focus on the natural world, air quality, sustainability, recycling and green practices. Films and artwork will be exhibited in tandem at the American Center and other locations in Kolkata. Unconventional art exhibition spaces, such as universities, public parks, metro stations, are encouraged. Festival promotion should include both tradition and digital media. To that end, the organization welcomes applications to its 2020 African American Arts Grants program. According to ArtsWave, diversity in arts and cultural expressions creates a more inclusive and dynamic region, a belief aligned with the Blueprint for Collective Action's goals of deepening the roots of residents and bridging cultural divides through the arts. The ArtsWave Grants for African American Arts program seek to strengthen the capacity for arts presenting, producing, programming, and instruction at organizations led by or predominantly serving black residents of Cincinnati and is one way that ArtsWave is working to increase the sustainability of organizations focused on the preservation and advancement of black arts and culture. The program will support organizations with a mission related to the African American experience and a majority (51 percent or more) of annual expenditures dedicated to arts and cultural activities. Grant requests may not exceed $25,000, and most award amounts will range between $5,000 and $10,000.

For this open call, we want to discover ideas that grow immersive storytelling to advance the field of journalism-that inform and encourage news organizations to innovate, experiment and learn. We believe that developing lessons around this emerging area can help journalists extend and deepen their impact. We want projects that use immersive storytelling to fuel innovation and new ideas, while addressing the many open questions facing this nascent industry. We're not prescriptive in what your project should be. We welcome all kinds of ideas, from new ways to produce and apply the technology, to the workflows, roles and skills required to create better journalism and enhanced storytelling techniques, to promoting ethics, transparency and accountability. We encourage collaboration on projects that will help advance the field. Our focus is not on funding content. We are primarily looking for projects that will yield lessons and "how-tos" for the field of journalism and encourage reporters and editors to think differently.

An organization may submit only one proposal under this program solicitation. This Cooperative Agreement will begin no earlier than March 1, 2020, and extend for up to 24 months and no fewer than 12 months. Program Description NEA Research Labs are intended to serve as "hubs" or centers of excellence in the domain of interest. Each NEA Research Lab will develop a pipeline of projects or products, even while conducting at least one major study. In addition, NEA Research Labs will be positioned to fulfill ad hoc analyses or information requests concerning the research agenda being pursued, as may be required during the project period of performance. Such requests will not involve new data collection. Priority will be given to applications that show capacity to design and implement a series of studies based on theory-driven research questions and methodologies that will yield important information about the impact of the arts within the selected topic area. Research methodologies may include such approaches as quasi-experimental or experimental designs, or analyses that use primary and/or secondary data. Competitive applications will take into account any extant research that serves as a basis for a theoretical framework and helps to motivate the proposed studies. We also welcome novel and promising research approaches, such as rigorous analyses of organizational or social networks, and/or social media data, and statistically driven meta-analyses. In addition, we are interested in translational research that moves scientific evidence toward the development, testing, and standardization of new arts-related projects, models, tools, or techniques that can be used easily by other practitioners and researchers.

The Arts Endowment's support of a project may start on July 1, 2020, or any time thereafter. A grant period of up to two years is allowed. An organization may submit as a lead applicant two applications to Our Town. A partnering organization may serve as a partner on as many applications as they like. You may apply to other National Endowment for the Arts funding opportunities, including Art Works and Challenge America, in addition to Our Town. In each case, the request must be for a distinctly different project, or a distinctly different phase of a project. If you have applied to the NEA in the past and were not recommended for funding, you may apply again to any funding opportunity, including Our Town. Program Description Our Town is the National Endowment for the Arts' creative placemaking grants program. Through project-based funding, we support projects that integrate arts, culture, and design activities into efforts that strengthen communities by advancing local economic, physical, and/or social outcomes. Successful Our Town projects ultimately lay the groundwork for systemic changes that sustain the integration of arts, culture, and design into local strategies for strengthening communities. These projects require a partnership between a local government entity and nonprofit organization, one of which must be a cultural organization; and should engage in partnership with other sectors (such as agriculture and food, economic development, education and youth, environment and energy, health, housing, public safety, transportation, and workforce development). Matching grants range from $25,000 to $200,000, with a minimum cost share/match equal to the grant amount.

The Headlands Center for the Arts campus comprises a cluster of artist-rehabilitated military buildings just north of the Golden Gate Bridge at historic Fort Barry in the Marin Headlands, a part of the Golden Gate National Recreation Area. The center's programs support artists in all disciplines - from visual artists to performers, musicians, writers, and videographers - and provide opportunities for independent and collaborative creative work. The center currently is inviting applications for its Artist in Residence program. Through the program, fully sponsored residencies that include a monthly stipend of $500 will be awarded to approximately fifty local, national, and international artists at the cutting edge of their fields whose work has the potential to impact the cultural landscape at large. Residencies run from four to ten weeks and include round-trip airfare, up to 2,000-square-foot studios, five chef-prepared meals per week, access to vehicles as well as basic woodshop; audio/video equipment; an artists' library with computer, scanner, and printer; and field trips to Bay Area museums, galleries, and cultural venues. There is an application fee of $25. Eligible artists may be at any stage their career and work in any media, including drawing, painting, sculpture, photography, film, video, new media, installation, fiction and nonfiction writing, poetry, dance, music, interdisciplinary, social practice, and architecture.

The Gene D. Cohen Award, sponsored by the National Center for Creative Aging (NCCA), recognizes and honors the seminal work of Dr. Gene Cohen, whose research in the field of creativity and aging has shifted the conceptual focus from a problem paradigm to one of promise and potential. Dr. Cohen has inspired us to approach longevity asking what wonders can be achieved, not in spite of age, but because of age. The award is presented annually to a professional whose research in the field of creativity and aging demonstrates these positive attributes. The United States Mint is seeking artists interested in taking coin and medal design in new directions and trying new approaches as part of our endeavor to ensure that the designs on United States coins and medals are of the highest quality to best represent our country for years to come. The United States Mint will award contracts to up to 20 artists to participate in the United States Mint Artistic Infusion Program (AIP) and submit designs for selected coin and medal programs. Depending on the number of active years in the AIP, artists receive between $2000 and $3000 for each design submission and an additional $5000 if their design is selected and used for a coin or medal design. All selected designs are sculpted by United States Mint Sculptor-Engravers, who also prepare designs for coin and medal programs. Artists of selected designs are named as designer in historical documents, Certificates of Authenticity and promotional materials. In most cases, the artist's initials appear on the final coins or medals (along with the initials of the United States Mint Sculptor-Engraver who sculpted the selected design).

The Antarctic Artists and Writers Program was established to facilitate writing and artistic projects designed to increase the public's understanding and appreciation of the Antarctic and human endeavors on the southernmost continent. The Artist and Writers Program gives priority to projects that focus on interpreting and representing the scientific activities being conducted in the unique Antarctic region.Proposed projects must target audiences in the U.S. and be distributed/exhibited in the U.S. The program does not support site installations or performances in Antarctica. The program also does not support short-term projects that are essentially journalistic in nature (See Section IX. Other Information). Artists and Writers Program field teams should consist of no more than one or two people. Larger projects-such as television or documentary film crews-should contact the cognizant AAW Program Officer.

FilmWatch grants support curated screening programs at North America-based film festivals, film societies and other film-related organizations. Targeted programs include those that create culturally diverse viewing experiences, promote motion pictures as an art form, provide a platform for underrepresented artists, and cultivate new and dedicated audiences for theatrical film. Grants typically range from $5,000 to $20,000. FilmCraft grants support high-quality educational programs that identify and empower future filmmakers from nontraditional backgrounds. Targeted programs include those that encourage an appreciation of film as both a vocation and an art form, and those that provide direct, hands-on opportunities for participants to gain the filmmaking skills they need to tell their stories. Grants typically range from $5,000 to $20,000. The program also supports the Academy's commitment to diversity in the industry. Diversity encompasses artists as well as audiences; the cultural and geographic communities to which they belong; their age, gender, race, ethnicity, disabilities, religious beliefs, sexual orientation, and gender identity. The Academy seeks to fund proven and rising institutions that open pathways for storytellers from a wide range of backgrounds, and especially those from underserved communities.

An organization may submit only one application through one of the following FY 2014 Grants for Arts Projects categories: Art Works or Challenge America Fast-Track. - The Arts Endowment's support of a project may start on or after June 1, 2014. Introduction The guiding principle of "Art Works" is at the center of everything we do at the NEA. "Art Works" refers to three things: the works of art themselves, the ways art works on audiences, and the fact that art is work for the artists and arts professionals who make up the field. To make "art work," the NEA has included the advancement of innovation as a core component of its mission as a way to ensure the vitality of the arts. We recognize that arts and design organizations are often in the forefront of innovation in their work and strongly encourage innovative projects which are characterized as those that: *Are likely to prove transformative with the potential for meaningful change, whether in the development or enhancement of new or existing art forms, new approaches to the creation or presentation of art, or new ways of engaging the public with art; *Are distinctive, offering fresh insights and new value for their fields and/or the public through unconventional solutions; and *Have the potential to be shared and/or emulated, or are likely to lead to other advances in the field. Through the projects that we support in the Art Works category, we want to achieve the following four outcomes: *Creation: The creation of art that meets the highest standards of excellence, *Engagement: Public engagement with diverse and excellent art, *Learning: Lifelong learning in the arts, and *Livability: The strengthening of communities through the arts.
