The Gene D. Cohen Award, sponsored by the National Center for Creative Aging (NCCA), recognizes and honors the seminal work of Dr. Gene Cohen, whose research in the field of creativity and aging has shifted the conceptual focus from a problem paradigm to one of promise and potential. Dr. Cohen has inspired us to approach longevity asking what wonders can be achieved, not in spite of age, but because of age. The award is presented annually to a professional whose research in the field of creativity and aging demonstrates these positive attributes. Presented annually at the GSA Annual Scientific Meeting at the Arts and Humanities Reception, the award consists of the following: Travel and lodging (limit to $1,000) to attend the GSA Annual Scientific Meeting GSA Annual Scientific Meeting Registration A program profile included in GSA's Annual Meeting Program, which will be distributed to attendees and posted on the GSA website. Recognition on the NCCA website Recognition by peers at an awards presentation Press release Award nomination is open to any individual who has produced research that demonstrates the benefits of creativity in arts including but not limited to visual arts, music, dance, drama, writing and multi media. Nominees should demonstrate leadership and contributions in the field of creativity and aging through research.

A. Noam Chomsky Global Connections Awards celebrate the power of human connections. The awards recognize distinguished service to the global mission of the STAR Scholars Network. Several individuals with a deep impact on advancing global, social mobility are recognized every year. We live in a time when innovation and creativity in support of humanity are of great importance. The Star Scholars Network recognizes the commitment of concerned people able and willing to make a difference in the lives of others. Nominations for this award are solicited from around the world. The nominee can be from any field. Beginning in 2020, the Star Scholars Network is committed to promoting transnational research, or collaborative research between scholars of two or more countries (e.g., joint publications, research partnerships, etc.). The Global Connections Awards recognize STAR Scholars for their achievements and distinctive contributions to translational research that demonstrates the very best of scholarly collaboration among scholars around the world. In December 2020, the Star Scholars Network will provide awards in three categories: North Star Medal of Lifetime Achievement, Shining Star Achievement in Research Award, Rising Star Emerging Scholar Certificate

The Jack Kent Cooke Foundation Graduate Arts Award enables students or recent alumni with exceptional artistic or creative promise and financial need to pursue up to three years of study at an accredited graduate institution in the US or abroad.  Awards can be as much as $50,000 annually.  In 2014, the Foundation will select up to 20 recipients for this award. The award provides funding for tuition, room and board, required fees, and books.  Scholarship amounts vary based on several factors, including cost at the institution each recipient attends and other grants and scholarships the student receives. 

AIIS fellowships are granted in 4 areas: Junior Research Fellowships Junior Research Fellowships are available to doctoral candidates at U.S. universities in all fields of study. These grants are specifically designed to enable doctoral candidates to pursue their dissertation research in India. Junior Research Fellows establish formal affiliation with Indian universities and Indian research supervisors. Awards are available for up to 11 months. Senior Research Fellowships Senior Research Fellowships are available to scholars with a PhD or its equivalent. These grants are designed to enable scholars who specialize in South Asia to pursue further research in India and to establish formal affiliation with an Indian institution. Short-term awards are available for up to four months. Long-term awards are available for six to nine months. A limited number of humanists will be granted fellowships paid in dollars funded by the National Endowment for the Humanities. Senior Scholarly/Professional Development Fellowships Senior Scholarly/Professional Development Fellowships are available both to established scholars who have not previously specialized in Indian studies and to established professionals who have not previously worked or studied in India. Senior Scholarly/Professional Development Fellows are formally affiliated with an Indian institution. Awards may be granted for periods of six to nine months. Senior Performing and Creative Arts Fellowships Senior Performing and Creative Arts Fellowships are available to accomplished practitioners of the performing arts of India and creative artists who demonstrate that study in India would enhance their skills, develop their capabilities to teach or perform in the U.S., enhance American involvement with India's artistic traditions or strengthen their links with peers in India. Awards will normally be for periods of up to four months, although proposals for periods of up to nine months can be considered.

In 2013, Joan K. Davidson, president of Furthermore, established the Alice award to honor her mother, Alice Manheim Kaplan.  Alice loved and collected the illustrated book as a work of art in itself and an essential document of a civilized society. The $25,000 Alice award is given annually to a richly illustrated book that makes a valuable contribution to its field and demonstrates high standards of production. Books selected by the award jury for the Alice Short List each receive $5,000. The award is intended to buttress the kind of slow reading movement that recognizes and cherishes the lasting values of the well-made illustrated book, and the special sense of intimacy it affords. Fields considered include the fine arts and the natural and built environments and related public issues.

The College Board is accepting applications for the 2013 College Board Award for Excellence and Innovation in the Arts. The annual award recognizes the achievements of six member institutions which have implemented an arts program that promotes student learning and creativity in exemplary and innovative ways. One school from each of the College Board's six regions will be awarded $3,500 to support the continuation and growth of their programs. Of the six finalists, one school will be named the national winner and will be awarded an additional $1,500. Regional winners will be honored at their respective College Board Regional Forums; the national winner also will be honored at the College Board National Forum.

The unrestricted award of $10,000 award is given annually to a female visual artist, age 60 or over, from Washington State who has dedicated twenty-five years or more of her life to creating art. The award recognizes creative excellence, professional accomplishment, and dedication to the visual arts.

With the goal of promoting undergraduate research, scholarship and creative activity in Arts and Humanities education, the Arts and Humanities Division of the Council on Undergraduate Research will offer financial support for faculty to present on the process and/or results of undergraduate research at regional or national Arts and/or Humanities conferences. The awards will be from $600 and up to three will be awarded for presentations that have been accepted by Feb. 10, 2015, to be presented (or which have been presented) in the fall of 2014 or spring of 2015 (by June 1, 2015).

The competition theme is "Blue." Shades, spaces, feelings of blue. Show us what blue means to you. Article submissions are accepted from all writers 18 years and older, including fiction, non-fiction, poetry, short stories and other written explorations (up to 900 words). There is one Gold Winner cash award, one writer profile award and at least three publication awards. All work is evaluated based on the vision as relates to the submission theme. Submissions including diverse interpretations of the theme will be considered. The beauty of art is that 100 artists can look at the same thing and interpret it in completely unique ways. That's what can make it breathtaking. Share your interpretation and you might win a cash prize, be professionally reviewed, and/or be published in ArtAscent Journal of Art & Literature!

Indiana University's African Studies Program invites applications for a short-term residency to conduct research in IU's Libraries/African Studies Collections. Indiana University's African Studies Collection ranks among the top tier of such collections in the U.S. It comprises more than 150,000 volumes of monographs and over 700 serial subscriptions as well as materials in other formats (e.g. posters, slides, film/video, audio tapes, etc). The focus of the collection is on the humanities and social sciences, supporting a wide range of students and faculty in such departments as history, anthropology, fine arts, theatre & drama, literature, folklore, ethnomusicology, communication and culture, linguistics, religious studies, education, political science, business, economics, journalism, and applied health science. This residency is intended for faculty members at Historically Black Colleges and Universities, or at other U.S. colleges / universities with limited Africa collections, to conduct research in Indiana University's libraries and special collections in support of curriculum development or publications. The successful applicant will receive an award that covers domestic travel, accommodations in Bloomington, and a modest per diem for up to two weeks of research. The award will cover expenses up to a maximum of $2,000 and must be used before August 01, 2014. The recipient is expected to reside in Bloomington during the period of her/his award.

Five percent of eco-friendly online retailer Artfully Reimagined's profits go to artists devoted to creating works from recycled objects, in the form of Reimagine It Grants. These unconditional, non-matching awards are made directly to individual artists to help launch or support careers in the inspiring world of repurposed art. Awards are based on the creative excellence of works submitted for review and are awarded to a limited number of artists of outstanding talent. Submitted pieces must be an original work; created within the past twelve months in the United States; and be made with a minimum of 70 percent of found, reclaimed, recycled, repurposed, vintage, or upcycled objects.

The mission of the Center for Craft, Creativity & Design at the University of North Carolina is to advance the understanding of craft by encouraging and supporting research, critical dialogue, and professional development. CCCD's programs strive to support the best examples of research and practice in the field. The fund offers three types of grants: Project, Research, ad Graduate Research grants. 1) Project Grants: Grants up to $15,000 will be awarded in support of research, writing, support documentation, images, or image rights as part of the research to be completed. 2) Exhibition Research Grants: Grants of up to $15,000 will be awarded to support exhibition research relating to the goals of the Craft Research Fund. 3) Graduate Research Grants: Grants of up to $5,000 will be awarded in support of research related to a master's thesis focused on U.S. studio craft by students enrolled in graduate programs in any accredited college or university. (Deadline: September 28, 2018) Proposals are welcome from curators, researchers, independent scholars, and graduate students. Applicants must be a citizen of the U.S., in the process of applying for citizenship, or have a U.S. Social Security number.

The Native Arts and Cultures Foundation has issued a call for applications to established American Indian and Alaska Native artists to mentor an emerging American Indian and Alaska Native artist apprentice through its for its NACF Mentor Artist Fellowship program. Through the program, mentors will develop lesson plans intended to increase their apprentice's skill level, and provide an experience of intergenerational exchange of cultural knowledge within the apprentice's traditional arts or contemporary visual arts practice. To assist in developing lesson plans, awarded mentors and their apprentices are required to attend a training session before the mentorship begins. The training date will be announced upon notification of the awards. The fellowship provides a monetary award of $30,000 total - $20,000 for the mentor, $5,000 for the joint art project, and $5,000 for the apprentice's expenses.

The Foundation awards travel grants to individual scholars to support historical research on Venice and the former Venetian empire, and for the study of contemporary Venetian society and culture. Disciplines of the humanities and social sciences are eligible areas of study, including (but not limited to) archaeology, architecture, art, bibliography, economics, history, history of science, law, literature, music, political science, religion, and theater.One of the Venetian Research Program grants awarded will be designated as the Henry A. Millon Award in Art and Architectural History. Applicants and grantees are advised to plan for the added difficulties surrounding travel during the COVID-19 pandemic. There are restrictions on both international and domestic travel. Additionally, access to archives and other research institutions can be difficult to ascertain and continue to change. Grantees should consult the recommendations of the Center for Disease Control, World Health Organization and the Italian health authorities when planning their travel and research. To support scholars, the Foundation has lengthened the grant period to a two-year timeframe. Grantees will be able to adjust their travel plans and submit an updated itinerary. Each will be asked to confirm the accessibility of their research sites. Grant payments will be provided close to each scholar's research period. We hope that this added flexibility will allow scholars to stay safe while moving forward with their important work.

The award is designated for a graduate student who will be presenting a paper on British art or visual culture at an academic conference in 2014. The award of $750 is intended to offset travel costs. Applicants must be current members of HBA.

The Princess Grace Foundation-USA, in partnership with the Ford Foundation, is accepting nominations for its 2013 JustFilms Documentary Awards program, which seeks to identify and support voices from underrepresented communities with authentic and powerful stories to tell. This year, priority will be given to social justice films by Native/Indigenous peoples of the Americas. Grant amounts are contingent on the size of the project budget. Nominations must be submitted by deans/department chairs in conjunction with the faculty of established U.S. colleges and universities or by directors of nonprofit media arts organizations with structured film production programs that the foundation has invited to apply. Candidates from colleges and universities must be full-time students or matriculated but have not yet completed their thesis films, have completed at least one film as director, be the director of the proposed thesis film, and be a United States citizen or be able to demonstrate proof of permanent resident status.

The Fender Music Foundation is currently awarding acoustic guitars, electric guitars, acoustic-electric guitars, bass guitars and the equipment necessary to play these instruments. However, other traditional music instruments are sometimes available. Traditional instruments include string instruments, woodwind instruments, brass instruments, percussion instruments, keyboards and voice. These items are lightly used, blemished or otherwise imperfect and have been collected from manufacturers and retailers. DJ equipment and computers are not available through The Fender Music Foundation. Grant Eligibility Criteria The Fender Music Foundation awards traditional instruments only to music instruction programs that are part of 501c3 organizations or public schools in the United States. To qualify as a music instruction program, participants must be learning how to make music. Participants can be of any age. However, music appreciation or entertainment programs do not qualify, and the participants cannot be professional or career musicians. A qualified program must fit into one of these four categories: In-school music classes, in which the students make music After-school music programs that are not run by the school Community music programs, which offer music instruction to community members Music therapy programs, in which the participants make the music In addition, the program must meet the following five criteria: Individuals are not denied participation based on their musical abilities. If the participants pay to participate, the fee is considerably less than the fair market value. The program has been functioning smoothly for at least one year. Each program participant receives music instruction at least once a week for at least eight months per year. (Camps and workshops are not eligible.) With or without a grant from The Fender Music Foundation, the organization is confident that the program will exist for the foreseeable future.

Following the successes of the two Masters programmes offered by the Faculty of Visual Culture at the National College of Art and Design, Dublin, a scholarship worth full tuition fees will be awarded to a student on either the MA Art in the Contemporary World (Theory only) or the MA Design History and Material Culture. The scholarship will be awarded on merit and all applicants are eligible

The Global Connections program was designed by TCG and is funded by The Andrew W. Mellon Foundation. US-based theatre organizations and individual artists may apply to one of the two initiatives of this new program: Global Connections-On the Road: This initiative will award 10 grants of up to $5,000 each to foster new relationships with international colleagues that will inspire each other's work and aesthetics by creating opportunities for cultural exchange. Global Connections-In the Lab: This initiative will award six grants of $10,000 each to further pre-existing international collaborations by supporting residencies that either advance the development of a piece or explore elements leading up to a full production.

The History of Art program supports scholarly projects that will enhance the appreciation and understanding of European art and architecture. Grants are awarded to projects that create and disseminate specialized knowledge, including archival projects, development and dissemination of scholarly databases, documentation projects, museum exhibitions and publications, photographic campaigns, scholarly catalogues and publications, and technical and scientific studies. Grants are also awarded for activities that permit art historians to share their expertise through international exchanges, professional meetings, conferences, symposia, consultations, the presentation of research, and other professional events.
