MiamiOH OARS on 10 Jul 20Engaging in policy and advocacy is essential to building healthy communities. As communities work on age-friendly ideas that are relevant to them, the Foundation will support efforts that are inclusive, collaborative, address quality of life, and improve conditions for all across the lifespan. One aging framework we use is that of the World Health Organization Age-Friendly Cities initiative. Policy and Advocacy initiatives we will consider recognize the essential components that make up community wellbeing. They include: - Built environment - Transportation - Housing - Social and civic participation and inclusion - Employment - Communication and information - Community support and health services Proposals should include: * Community/civic engagement of diverse stakeholders in communities to mobilize and affect change * Participation among key stakeholders, including the voice of older adults, to support planning, policy and advocacy initiatives * Expanded access to programs and services as well as system change/improvement
