    Supports research on perception, action and cognition. Emphasis is on research strongly grounded in theory. Central research topics for consideration by the Perception, Action, and Cognition panel include vision, audition, haptics, attention, memory, reasoning, written and spoken discourse, and motor control. The program encompasses a wide range of theoretical perspectives, such as symbolic computation, connectionism, ecological, nonlinear dynamics, and complex systems, and a variety of methodologies including both experimental studies and modeling.

Call for Applications: Short-Term Visiting Fellowships for Teaching Neuroethics - 0 views

    Would you or a neuroscience colleague like to develop and teach a course on neuroethics at your institution? The University of Pennsylvania is ready to help, by offering Short-term Visiting Fellowships for Teaching Neuroethics. This summer the Penn Center for Neuroscience & Society will host 16 college and university professors with primary expertise in neuroscience for a week-long intensive course on "neuroethics," that is, the ethical, legal and societal implications of neuroscience. Through reading, lecture and discussion, fellows will acquire a strong grasp of the core issues of neuroethics, as well discuss with experienced instructors the design of neuroethics syllabus, selection of readings and implementation of learning activities. Work space, hotel rooms, and most meals will be provided.

Huntington's Disease Society of America Donald A. King Summer Fellowship - 0 views

    There is a continual and important need to continue to train the next-generation of scientists with research expertise in neurodegenerative disorders, especially Huntington's disease.  The purpose of the Donald A. King Summer Research Fellowships program is two-fold:  first, to attract the brightest young scientists into the field of Huntington's disease research and secondly, to facilitate meaningful HD research to clarify the biological mechanisms underlying HD pathology. The objective of the Donald A. King Summer Research Fellowships is to sponsor HD investigations that can be conducted over a 10-week period, between June 1 and August 31, 2013.  Fellowship recipients, working under the supervision of senior HD scientists, will undertake a project that will be helpful in future HD research and also nurture a continuing interest in HD research. The student fellowships are designed to attract the brightest future scientists into a career in Huntington's disease research.

International Rett Syndrome Foundation (IRSF) - Grant Opportunities - 0 views

    IRSF announces the availability of Regular Research grants for international biomedical research to promote the understanding of MeCP2 in the pathogenesis of the neurobehavioral phenotype of Rett syndrome (RTT). We seek to gain a better understanding of the underlying pathology of the disorder leading to an amelioration of the symptoms and a cure for RTT. IRSF seeks to encourage research that encompasses innovative therapeutic approaches and state of the art diagnostic techniques.

Klarman Family Foundation Grants Program in Eating Disorders Research - 0 views

    The Klarman Family Foundation is interested in providing strategic investment in translational research that will accelerate progress in developing effective treatments for anorexia nervosa, bulimia nervosa and binge eating disorder. The Program's short-term goal is to support the most outstanding science and expand the pool of scientists whose research explores the basic biology of feeding, anorexia nervosa, bulimia nervosa, and/or binge eating disorder. The long-term goal is to improve the lives of patients suffering from these conditions. Examples of funding areas include but are not limited to molecular genetic analysis of relevant neural circuit assembly and function; genetic and epigenetic research; animal models created by genetically altering neural circuits; and testing of new chemical entities that might be used in animal models as exploratory treatments.  Please note that imaging studies involving humans are not eligible. Investigators conducting research in the neuro-circuitry of fear conditioning or reward behavior may also apply but must justify the relevance of their research projects to the basic biology of eating disorders. Clinical psychotherapeutic studies, medication trials and research in the medical complications of these disorders are outside the scope of this Program.

    DLS supports fundamental research that increases our understanding of cognitive, linguistic, social, cultural, and biological processes related to children's and adolescents' development and learning.  Research supported by this program will add to our basic knowledge of how people learn and the underlying developmental processes that support learning, with the objective of leading to better educated children and adolescents who grow up to take productive roles as workers and as citizens. Among the many research topics supported by DLS are: developmental cognitive neuroscience; development of higher-order cognitive processes; transfer of knowledge from one domain or situation to another; use of molecular genetics to study continuities and discontinuities in development; development of peer relations and family interactions; multiple influences on development, including the impact of family, school, community, social institutions, and the media; adolescents' preparation for entry into the workforce; cross-cultural research on development and learning; and the role of cultural influences and demographic characteristics on development. Additional priorities include research that: incorporates multidisciplinary, multi-method, microgenetic, and longitudinal approaches; develops new methods, models, and theories for studying learning and development; and integrates different processes (e.g., learning, memory, emotion), levels of analysis (e.g., behavioral, social, neural), and time scales (e.g. infancy, middle childhood, adolescence).
