International Research Network Connections | NSF - National Science Foundation - 0 views

  •
The International Research Network Connections (IRNC) program supports high-performance network connectivity required by international science and engineering research and education collaborations involving the NSF research community. NSF expects to make 1-2 awards to link U.S. research networks with peer networks in Europe and Africa and leverage existing international network connectivity. High-performance network connections funded by this program are intended to support science and engineering research and education applications, and preference will be given to solutions that provide the best economy of scale and demonstrate the ability to support the largest communities of interest with the broadest services. Funded projects will assist the U.S. research and education community by enabling state-of-the-art international network services and access to increased collaboration and data services. Through extended international network connections, additional research and production network services will be enabled, complementing those currently offered or planned by domestic research networks.

Mary Louise Nickerson Fellowship in Neuro History - 0 views

  •
Established in 2011 by Granville H. Nickerson, M.D., C.M., in honour and in memory of his wife, Mary Louise, who was an inspiration to many of Dr. Nickerson's classmates of McGill's Medicine Class of 1945, an acknowledged scholar and an enthusiastic promoter of the Arts.  The Fellowship will allow a scholar to carry out research utilizing the Neuro History archival and artifact collections, the centre piece of which is the Penfield Archive in the Osler Library, and other resources available at the Osler Library, the Montreal Neurological Institute and the McGill University Archives.  The Osler Library's collections are listed in the McGill Library Catalogue and the Osler Library Archives Collection website.

International Rett Syndrome Foundation (IRSF) - Grant Opportunities - 0 views

  •
IRSF announces the availability of Regular Research grants for international biomedical research to promote the understanding of MeCP2 in the pathogenesis of the neurobehavioral phenotype of Rett syndrome (RTT). We seek to gain a better understanding of the underlying pathology of the disorder leading to an amelioration of the symptoms and a cure for RTT. IRSF seeks to encourage research that encompasses innovative therapeutic approaches and state of the art diagnostic techniques.

Advanced Computational Methods for Anatomical and Functional Brain Data Analysis - NIHL... - 0 views

  •
Professional services are required to develop and evaluate techniques for analyzing anatomical and functional brain data using deformable shape and appearance volume models (Metamorphs/Active Volume Models), stretching open active contours (SOAX), and advanced classification methods, including deep learning.  These methods will be investigated and state-of-the-art tools developed for the segmentation of brain MRI and diffusion imaging data and the analysis of fMRI data, with the aim of supporting research into understanding functional brain circuits and their anatomical correlations. Functional-anatomical atlases will be developed to facilitate comparisons across individuals and for statistical modeling.  The required work is projected to be a multi-year effort, with the first year concentrating on feasibility and prototype development.  Subsequent two-year work, if justified by first-year results, will concentrate on the  development and further evaluation of the prototypes as mature tools that contribute to the wider national research initiative to accurately model functioning of the human brain.

Collaboratory on Research Definitions for Cognitive Reserve and Resilience to Alzheimer... - 0 views

  •
The purpose of this funding opportunity announcement (FOA) is to provide infrastructure support to advance development of operational definitions and approaches for the study of the concepts of cognitive reserve and resilience to Alzheimer's disease and related dementias (ADRD) and age-related cognitive decline. The infrastructure support will facilitate a collaborative research network through meetings, conferences, small-scale pilots, and dissemination activities to foster development and champion use of state-of-the-art definitions, uniform nomenclature, and validated approaches that will be key to the advancement of research on maintenance of brain and cognitive health and treatment and/or prevention of ADRD.

PIPETTE: 4R Tau and Alpha-Synuclein PET Tracer Development | Parkinson's Disease - 0 views

  •
Applications should focus on studies that achieve one or more of the following: - In vivo imaging of brain neurofilaments of 4R tau and alpha-synuclein pathology that could be useful as biomarkers of the presence of disease and disease progression and as pharmacodynamic tools for drug development for tauopathies or synucleinopathies - Structure- and ligand-based drug design approaches that use state-of-art computational methods such as the high resolution Cryo-EM structures of disease-relevant tau and alpha-synuclein fibrils and existing Structure Activity Relationship (SAR) on known tau PET ligands or alpha-synuclein PET ligands that are in development We are especially interested in projects to develop alpha-synuclein and tau tracers in parallel.
