Faculty explains using the 'Peer Instruction' technique promoted by Eric Mazur of Harvard. The technique uses clickers to facilitate active learning in large classes.

This is an interesting article about a medical school approach to selecting candidates who have good social skills. I wonder if this approach would be valuable for nursing school admissions interviews? Skitch is a Mac only screenshot caputure. It does not do video, like Jing. But the interface seems very nice. Take a peek.

After reading Newman's post earlier I downloaded this free program and it works great. I can now personally record and edit my lectures.

Another example of using Jing, a previous iNET featured tool, to give student feedback. Jing is a free and simple to use screenrecording application, which is perfect for recording short 'screencasts', tutorials, instructions, and annoucements.

I did similar screen casts when I taught graphic design. It was so much better than textually critiquing something very visual...and it took less time. The students liked the video because it helped them "See" the things they could improve upon and they liked hearing the tone of the voice which helped eliminate any misinterpretations of the critique...meaning I wasn't out to get them.

A very simple and straight forward way to do screenrecording. It's sort of like Jing, but you can record as long as you want. However, unlike, Jing you can't upload directly to screencast.com. Worth a look. I don't want to give up Jing, but this might be better for recording longer screencasts.

Good example of a 'learning Object' - animations and small units on Genetics

This is a great place to learn genetics, I tried numerous modules and they all work when you enter the web module, however there were no instructor instructions or student instructions on these tools,... only a screen stating it was under construction, so I would recommend that if you use this site you write clear instructions for your students. I plan to use the site with the nurse practitioners in the Spring. I will require the Genetic counseling one for this group. I hope that they will be intrigued and try some of the other modules, which they may have to do in order to correctly do the genetic counseling.
