50+ Ways to Tell the Dominoe Story Just to prove it can be done, I create the same story as an example for every tool in the list using a story about my first dog, Dominoe. Previously, I created this short story done as a video assembled from still images and audio that was submitted for a 60 Second Story contest Each story below is based on my storyboard and assembled images on flickr and in Picasa . Note that a number of tools allow you to directly import media from these media sites. Below are examples of the same story (over and over again!) I was able to create in the 50+ tools, with both linked versions (on the tool's web site) and embedded versions, using the code provided to embed a media player into this web site. One of the most interesting discoveries was that most of these tools provided the ability to embed the media in other web sites.

Apple announced a new iBooks Author App on Thursday that makes creating an Apple ebook a drag-and-drop process. Using the app, which was announced at the same time as a new textbook experience for iPad, users can drag a Word file into a book creation space. The app automatically determines the best way to lay out the book and creates appropriate sections and headers. Users can then drag and resize images within the text and add definitions, photo galleries, movies Keynote presentations and 3D objects.

gifninja is a website that lets you create animated gifs quickly and easily. You can either create an animated gif from individual images or by uploading a video. gifninja also provides you with a nice utility to split an animated gif into separate images.

Slideshows are one of the most popular ways to integrate technology into education. Now that there are several free sites that let users create amazing slide shows, it's no longer necessary to have a program such as iPhoto or Power Point for the job.

Skype is a free downloadable software that lets you do voice and video calls combined with instant messaging for free. The possibilities of Skype to flatten your classroom are endless.

"My students were asked to write a math story problem and download the free trial of Animation-ish to animate their story! All students whose work is posted signed an agreement to allow me to share their project. The "ToonBoom" logo shows up in their animations because they used the trial version of Animation-ish. If you purchase the software, the logo will not show up in the liscensed version, so you will have a clean background in your animation."

Capzles is a relatively new free site that lets you create entertaining social photo story lines very easily. You could call them slideshows or photo stories, but really they are a whole level above the Flickr slideshows I was talking about last time.
