Your retreat sounds wonderful. I'm with Liz, above. I miss the days of front porch swings and real, meaningful conversation. (A few of us are like-minded there!) I think so many people just partake of technology mindlessly, letting it consume them. It really irks me when someone lets a tweet or ring interrupt a deep (or even shallow conversation). BTW, welcome to the High Calling community--I think you'll find some kindred spirits there. I'm really glad you've joined and look forward to getting to "know" you better.

I think worship is one of the places where we are often tempted to make it about us, instead of about God.  I love how you're having meaningful conversations with people about worship and what a great analogy about familiarity and liturgy.  Welcome to The High Calling!

These are some of my favorites, too. Zena, I'm one of the staff at THC and am really glad you've joined The High Calling network. I love C.S. Lewis, Les Mis, missions, and work in community relations. I think we would have great conversations over a cuppa tea. However, since I live in Texas and you're across the ocean, I'll look forward to seeing you around the network
