And He was my everything then, and He is now…although my faith has ebbed and flowed, He has remained so faithful! Thanks for joining HCB>and welcome!!! I love the creative way you reminded me that we're not finished yet. And that I shouldn't give up when I mess up. PTL for grace! Welcome to HCB. I hope you'll find it as warm and inspiring as I have.

So true, so true. I've been on much the same journey this year and God has proved Himself faithful time and time again. It's so easy to listen to the enemy instead of our Best Friend…and His Word. Thanks for sharing your thoughts and how God's been teaching you. Many people are hurting and in distress right now and it's great to find a ministry that's dedicated to showing them Jesus' light. Oh, and welcome to HCB-I look forward to seeing more of your excellent writing there.

I so relate to this post! I have always, always loved Fall and the start of a new school year-for me or my boys. I still long to go "back to school" and finish my masters' degree, and then spent the rest of my years on a college campus teaching English, writing, and reading…maybe God will make a way. If not, I can continue learning from life and the Lord. Thanks for this walk down memory lane, and for joining HCB. You have a lovely blog!

Jen, I had a very close relationship with my maternal grandmother and still miss her a ton, even though it's been 13 years since she passed away. What a blessing to read your insightful post and see you give "permission" to your friend to grieve and not be okay. Sometimes I think we try to gloss over loss, instead of really feeling it. It makes us uncomfortable when people grieve...so thanks for this. I look forward to reading more of your work in the HCB network. :)

I love that thought, and it's scary too-that our kids learn more by what we do than say. But sooo true! Thanks for joining HCB…I look forward to seeing you around the network!

The quote about Kirk Cameron made me laugh out loud. Thanks for that! :) And thanks for your insights on this subject. I heartily agree that Christians can (and should) do better. I did like Soul Surfer, however. The fact that it was based on a true story helped the believability to me. But I did think that they glossed over the struggle that the surfer-girl went through. It was more a dark minute of the soul. :) Welcome to The High Calling. I can't wait for you to dig in and become acquainted with our wonderful community. I hope you'll do that soon.

My comment awaiting moderation:  Great to find your blog through The High Calling, and welcome to the network! I'm sorry you've had a tough couple of weeks. It's easy to get in the "why me?" mode when things don't go our way. I'm glad you were able to shift your perspective to see how God might use circumstances to refine His character in you. Blessings!

New "faith" blog. My comment, awaiting moderation: Reminds me very much of that song, "There's a God shaped hole in all of us, and a restless heart (or is it soul?) is searching..." Great to connect via High Calling Blogs!

  • Cheryl Smith said... Maybe the before and after photos are a gentle reminder to all of us that sometimes we can work hard and accomplish a lot, and others may not always notice... food for thought.
