This abstract written by an engineering professor at Cal Poly Engineering offers research and support for a new trend in education called, "the Inside-Out Classroom." The abstract describes how the inside out classroom is a win-win-win strategy for teaching with technology. Instructors create "chunks" of core content in a digital, lecture-capture format. These resources are then stored online for students. These are short videos that students watch before attending class sessions. Students study core content for a course online on their own, and then complete assignments during in-class sessions.

I really enjoyed the article. It answered one of my 5 wish list. To know there are so many tools is exciting but yet scary. I can not wait to use the new tools.

Perhaps you've stood in the front of a classroom, looked out on the room full of students distractedly checking email or Facebook, and thought: They're just not that into this.

There seems to be a widespread belief that every college or university is already deeply enmeshed in online learning. The reality is that many schools are still trying to figure out their online learning strategy. If you are thinking about investing in a new online learning program then you will have no shortage of advice.

For those who may be a bit unclear on how to use Twitter for a class, the article includes varied strategies. Some of the ideas have already been mentioned in our discussions and responses as we worked through the second module, but there are a few other points that may be noteworthy. Second, the article affirms some of the ideas already shared, especially for those of us who were initially unfamiliar with twitter's potential application.

I'm still not convinced I want to use Twitter in my classes, but this gives a lot of good information.

I must admit that when I first heard about Twitter I thought it represented the apex of what concerns me about internet technology: solipsism and sound-bite communication. While I obviously spend a great deal of time online and thinking about the potential of these new networked digital communication structures, I also worry about the way .....

When it comes to trying something new or looking into more tools. I believe I would like to do more research to see what other online instructors are doing. In this case, I found a great website called, eLearning Industry: www.elearningindustry.com. Here I can find articles written by online teaching professionals and for online teaching professionals. Also, the website is easy to navigate and always updated.

A new infographic from The Learning House offers insights into today's nontraditional student. Although online college enrollment continues to rise, some higher ed leaders still hold onto misconceptions about the types of students who pursue this alternative learning model.
