A colleague had sent this link to me about Twitter applications for business after I commented on how I was trying to see how some of the technology had practical applications in my classroom. So, I share it with you here.

Summary of useful mobile apps for mobile learning and thought provoking ideas for wikitextbooks.

This blog has followed social gaming juggernaut Zynga's progress for a couple years now. One of its most popular gaming apps is FarmVille, which runs on Facebook and touts an estimated 70 million players, making it one of, if not the, most popular games ever. Testaments to the game's popularity abound. I opted to post this here as we are debating the use of Web 2.0 tools in education. Farmville dominated Facebook games for a number of years, and educators made use of this trend to enhance their teaching. Though it has not been developed for educational purposes, I know even teachers of business studies who used it in their classes with students 13+ of age. This example should encourage us to make use of what is trending and popular with our students to our advantage!

The debate surrounding social media as a learning tool is unlikely to abate any time soon. Is it just a distraction, or do the interactive educational tools available outweigh any disadvantages? Social media platforms, such as Facebook and Twitter, are becoming steadily more integrated within a variety of apps targeted at learning.

#TT1921 This presentation software tool would be beneficial to my online learning because of the inbuilt mechanism that uses motion, zoom, and spatial relationships to bring one's ideas to life. With time, after gaining the skills to use it, one can be a great presenter. Great presentation with content would improve students' understanding and learning experience!

Want to be a better student? There are literally thousands of apps for that. Not to mention a wide array of other online learning tools. They're not all changing education - but a few innovative ones are.

This article contains several ideas for successful online instruction. Technology is constantly changing and we as instructors need to stay on top of the emerging trends.

Educators may feel sometimes like they're on an island with little help in sight. But as technology teaching resources go, it may encourage you to learn that there are a number of online solutions available to help promote education from teaching reading basics to organizing classroom activities and encouraging civic involvement.

Great lists of Web apps for the classroom - categorized!

Free interactive website for music students who wish to learn and then test their knowledge of music theory; also has specific exercises for students learning keyboard and various fretted string instruments. The webpage also features various interactive tools and calculators, and printables (e.g. staff paper). What makes it useful for teachers is the ability to customize exercises in great detail. The site then produces permanent links to these exercises that you send to students. To make it even better, students can submit reports with results of their drills. Great for mastery learning approach. They also make paid iOS apps, Tenuto and Theory Lessons

Very Simple, but limited, VR app for possible use in education.

A helpful/useful Zoom feature for teaching software/apps remotely.

I used this to create a set of flashcards to share among peers. You can access from the web browser, mobile device, and computer or laptop. You can set goals to cover 20 flashcards per day and flag the confidence level.

I use this app, which can be used on any device, in my blueprint reading class. It is applicable in any course when trying to develop visualization skills. Some students love it, some do not. It has a gamification feel to it. Heather Zaccagnini
