On this PDF, there are many links that connect to music sites that students can use. All of the programs are "in the cloud". Students can access these from any computer, at home, school or on the road. All sites are included to facilitate musical creativity.

This is a document that is a resource for creativity and technology for music learning put together by Dr. William Bauer for the FETC in Orlando, Florida on January 31, 2014. Other headings include: technology to facilitate musical creativity and general cloud-based technologies useful for facilitating musical creativity. This page is an excellent resource to develop ideas for learning with technology in the classroom. Many of the programs are free, easy to use and applicable to many educational ideas.  

Musical Creativity in the Cloud is a Google Doc by Dr. William I. Bauer. It is a list of resources to integrate technology into the music classroom and encourage creative thinking. Each item on the list will facilitate organization, creativity, or music learning. Dr. Bauer comprised a list of fifty resources to integrate technology into the music classroom including notation software, cloud-based libraries, media players, and organizational tools.

I found this to be a very interesting read/listen. She discusses how to foster creativity in the classrooms. In music, composing is an essential skill and the ultimate creative activity. However, I find myself sometimes nervous to let the kids compose. What if they are not successful? What if they talk too much or get too loud? But Goodwin really gives me the courage to start small and grow from there. It's not about having the kids write a symphony, but to show what they learned by creating something new.

The purpose of this TED talk is to explain creativity as it pertains to the human characteristics. McManus (2015) explained that we were created to create, our imagination should be explored, and we should celebrate this creativity. This video is inspiring for creative teaching and learner in music and other disciplines.

I am grateful to people who share their work without selfishness and not for money. Fair use and Creative Commons have made the life of us music educators easy.There are lots of resources for Creative Commons and Other Copyright friendly media available to use in class.

Creative Commons is a site that supports creativity and sharing. This site contains a portal to public domain. 

DrumStation is a program that will allow students to create their own drum loops using 8 different drumming instruments. Be aware, I have not been able to find a tutorial for this program. However, it lets students be creative when composing through technology!

The purpose of this resource is to provide examples of music curriculum that is based on creativity through technology integration in the classroom. The website lists and provides several examples of music courses designed to engage the non-traditional music student through technology.

This is an interesting read that was linked on Dr. Bauer's resources discussing the connections of arts and common core standards.

This informative Edutopia article by blogger and professor Karin Nolan encourages educators about the simplicity about integrating their current teaching approach and curriculum structure with a standards-based curriculum. You do not have be a musician to satisfy the standards either.

Noteflight provides music notation software from the ease of a web browser. The program is free to use, and although there is a premium version, the free version has all the tools needed for learning and creating notated music. All works are saved in the cloud and can be accessed at anytime from any device that can access the website, making music composition easier than ever.

Noteflight is a free browser-based music notation tool. The software has cloud storage allowing you to work on creative musical products from any computer with an internet connection. It also connects to MIDI instruments. Noteflight has a paid subscription which allows you to store unlimited compositions, full access to all sounds, transposition, and the ability to print individual parts. Student accounts can be purchased which you to create "closed" classrooms allowing for creative musical products and collaboration amongst peers.

This podcast is a series of interviews with creative performers, string pedagogues, and more. This resource discusses the why of music, the how, and teaching it. While the podcast is entertaining, the resources it gives are also even more useful, such as other websites and names to know.

A cloud-based DAW, free and easy to use. It is very similar to GarageBand, and users with little music knowledge can easily create quality compositions by dragging and dropping loops. Users can compose music, record live instruments and voice tracks, use MIDI controllers, and export projects to many known file types.

Soundtrap is a browser-based DAW that allows users to create and collaborate compositions or podcasts. Soundtrap offers a paid subscription allowing teachers to setup a private classroom and monitor/grade/comment on their students work. This DAW can be used for a plethora of creative tasks in music. It's primary affordance is that it is browser-based and compositions are saved via cloud storage.

Users can also easily collaborate with others, and the program can be accessed via computer, tablet, or cell phone. It provides a user-friendly experience that music students can work with to express creativity through composition.

A TED talk by Jody Espina, saxophonist and industry professional who founded JodyJazz Inc. Jody talks about creativity in all walks of life, and that the fear of taking risks and learning from our mistakes are important to growing as musicians and individuals.

Something from Nothing is a currently running/updating podcast series on NPR that talks about creative works by musicians and artists and their influences/processes. It shows students that anyone can be creative. The current episodes are 13 minutes to a half hour in length.
