The Treadmill of Production (ToP) is a theoretical model developed by Allan Schnaiberg, this article provides very strong and helpful information on the topic. Although it it strong, it is lacking in substance, and It is only about a paragraph, or two. These two paragraphs provide useful information on the model, and a deeper explaination.

Teenage Girls + Media = Low Self-Esteem - 0 views

  •
Teenage Girls + Media = Low Self-Esteem Their are lots of teen girls who are turning to diets to try and loose weight. 86% of teen girls are either on a diet or believe they should be on one. Not all teens think they should be on diets either. Children ( like girls ages 9 or 10) also think they should be on diets becasue they believe they are to big, and they want to be thin like the celebrities they see. Girls this age shouldn't have negatice thoughts like this when they have school work to do and freinds to hang out with. They shouldn't have to worry about their weight and if they look ugly. Their are deffinitally to many magazines were celebrities are so thin and when girls see that they turn themselves down and think they should change to be like that too. When really, being that thin isn't good for your body. Even though their are lots of people out their that tell teens the models in the magazines are computerized and are perfected through that. Teens still think that they need to be thin when they know that that person may not be as thin as she looks in the magazine. I think that having 86% of the girls who believe they should be on diets should definitally be something that gets taken care of so, girls can gain self esteem and not loose it.

BBC NEWS | UK | Magazine | Teens going 'under the knife' - 0 views

  •
Lots of teenage girls are wanting to turn to plastic surgeons because they want to have bodily perfection. A lot of parents are even willing to come up with the money for their teens to go through with the surgery. The parents say that they will pay for the surgery for there child if thats what makes them happy. Since getting surgery is very expensive they loose lots of money by going into debt, so they go to their parents who have money to pay for them. I strongly disagree with this topic. I think that if a teen wants plastic surgery bad enough they will pay for it themselves. Yes, it is their choice weather or not they want the surgery but teens should be the ones who pay for that. Parents should be influenacing there kids with things that will raise up their self image and not make them want to get surgery to make them look beautiful. This can be one of the causes that teens think they look ugly all the time, because their parents are willing to pay for surgery that they don't even need. The parents don't even take the time to tell their children the negative things that could happen, they sound like their all for it. That just shows a teen girl that she doesn't look good if her parents are willing to pay for her surgery.

Traits of Gang Members - 0 views

  •
I believe this site gave a strong description of the traits and qualities a member of a gang posseses, from seeing different gangs in movies, tv shows, and even real life. It says "young men form gangs to acquire companionship, gain peer respect, act out biases and express cultural identity." and I am sure any boy relate to this.

Teen Marriage - 0 views

  •
This website shows detailed and accurate information. The creator of the page is classified as a senior teen advisor which makes her appear to be well resourced in her position. The website is divided into 5 main sections: why you want to get married, what will happen in teenager views. statistics, Advice before getting married and first hand experiences. As noted in other websites, the main reasons for getting married had to do with the partner being pregnant, moving away from parents as well as money and responsibility. It also depicts that most teenagers will drop out of school and be forced out of their home because they can not afford their new establishment. The statistical information is interesting and from the in-quote from a author of a teen marriage book, the information is cited and accurate. The advice is thoughtful and would be appropriate in the situation given, it is the best possible outcome and would raise awareness to the choice you are about to make. Additionally, each quote from people married from teens exchange opinions from optimism to regret. In my opinion i believe this website is a very good source for education as well as those in need of advice and counselling.

Racial Profiling: An Overview - 0 views

  •
I think that this site showed immense amounts of information on racial profiling and gave me a lot of topics I could use in my research project. There were several good examples of racial profiling from history and from the present. It explained several terms used in the area of racial profiling such as Driving While Black or Travelling While Arab etc. The author did plenty of reliable research and the site is that of the same idea as Thomson Gale so I have hope that it is reliable web information.

I felt this web page was direct and to the point. I understood what Racial Profiling exactly was from the first paragraph. I believe that the many examples at the bottom are well put and should be well understood from a lot of people. The web page is not one to overwhelm you with too many words, or too many big words but it is also not one to distract you with colours or emoticons, etc.
