heidi streicher on 19 Jan 10Teenage Girls + Media = Low Self-Esteem Their are lots of teen girls who are turning to diets to try and loose weight. 86% of teen girls are either on a diet or believe they should be on one. Not all teens think they should be on diets either. Children ( like girls ages 9 or 10) also think they should be on diets becasue they believe they are to big, and they want to be thin like the celebrities they see. Girls this age shouldn't have negatice thoughts like this when they have school work to do and freinds to hang out with. They shouldn't have to worry about their weight and if they look ugly. Their are deffinitally to many magazines were celebrities are so thin and when girls see that they turn themselves down and think they should change to be like that too. When really, being that thin isn't good for your body. Even though their are lots of people out their that tell teens the models in the magazines are computerized and are perfected through that. Teens still think that they need to be thin when they know that that person may not be as thin as she looks in the magazine. I think that having 86% of the girls who believe they should be on diets should definitally be something that gets taken care of so, girls can gain self esteem and not loose it.
