Not mentioned in the article, but maybe our video calls will be sponsored with ads. The phonecall is really a one-to-one form of communication that can't currently be touched by ads since no one wants their audio to be interrupted by audio. But an ad could easily be placed in a video chat without interfering with the communication experience.

This article touches on the need for services that make it easy for viewers to discover content from multiple sources: TV, online, social, VOD, etc. Specifcally, the article mentions a service called LocateTV, which lets users track actors, tv shows, movies, etc. and notifies them when they are on-air. Could be useful for something like the Verizon/NFL tie-up to track talent, etc.

So Wired says voice calls may be dying. Now Google is showing that people are becoming more comfortable with talking directly to devices for search. This could have implications for improved voice interfaces on mobile and other connected devices.

And without having their phone numbers, no less. Could be dangerous. But they have to have the same app, so I imagine user adoption will be a major stifling factor here.

I like this since initiatives like this could really turn power-users into advocates within their social networks. Encouraging friends/family on Facebook to use the app and spreading adoption. derp
