Pixie's new bluetooth beacons make it harder for you to lose your stuff | The Verge - 0 views

The Point is an always-on location tag that works over Bluetooth LE. The beacons are extremely light, measure 3.2mm thick, and look like a guitar pick blown up to two times its size. Each beacon will last 18 months, and they are water-resistant and UV-coated to protect the radios, circuitry, and processor inside. They work up to 50 feet from your phone indoors and 150 feet outdoors - all with an accuracy of under a foot.

Sony follows Nokia's path into NFC-enabled Bluetooth accessories | The Verge - 1 views

  • ony is also coming out with a pair of headsets: the SBH–20 and DR-BTN200M. Both offer the same one-touch pairing and connecting via NFC. The former offers 400 hours of standby time and 9.2-millimeter drivers while the latter offers bigger numbers with 800 hours and 30 millimeters. Luckily, you won’t need a Sony phone to take advantage of the NFC features — Android users with NFC-enabled devices just need to download the company’s Easy Connect app. We’re still waiting to hear from Sony about availability, but we’ll pass what we hear along as soon as we find out.

How an Under-Appreciated iOS 7 Feature Will Change the World | Cult of Mac - 0 views

Holy C$#@! Am I missing something or is this massive? Combine this with Pcell (which is Mesh based). What happens when every device with a WiFi, Bluetooth or cellular conection forms a mesh network? Would everything/everyone always be connected? Who "controls it and how does anyone directly charge when it's all meshed together?
