The Distinctions Between Web 2.0 Vs Web 3.0 - 0 views

  • Arguments as to what the definition of Web 3.0 might be range from the general term “semantic web” in which search is quicker and more comprehensive, thanks to a range of indexing systems such as tagging, to it being the time when the web and TV collide, to a disturbing definition of humans being constantly “plugged in” to the net.

10 Privacy Settings Every Facebook User Should Know - 0 views

  • Remove Yourself From Facebook Search Results
  • Remove Yourself From Google
  • Avoid the Infamous Photo/Video Tag Mistake
  • ...6 more annotations...
  • This is the classic Facebook problem. You let loose for a few hours one night (or day) and photos (or videos) of the moment are suddenly posted for all to view, not just your close friends who shared the moment with you. The result can be devastating. Some have been fired from work after incriminating photos/videos were posted for the boss to see. For others, randomly tagged photos/videos have ended relationships.
  • Protect Against Published Application Stories
  • Make Your Contact Information Private
  • Control Who Can Post to Your Wall
  • Keep Your Friendships Private
  • The best way to prevent embarrassing items from showing up on Facebook in the future is to not make bad judgements in your personal life.

Commentary: Critical discussion of Mystarbucksidea.com - 2 views

  • The driver for many people to come to MSI was that icon, and once Starbucks removed it from the homepage starbucks.com. site traffic seemed to slow down.  Now, in November 2009, MSI seems like a far quieter community than what it once was in 2008.  It’s never really picked back up to that 2008 level.
  • When you give your customers a wide open empty page to write on, controlling it becomes difficult.
  • People would rather listen to how it is said, than what is being said.  Customers who complain about their pet issue, and threaten to leave Starbucks, are met with negative votes
  • ...13 more annotations...
  • It’s a shame because many baristas respond with similar tone, happy to let the customer go to a competitor
  • Point totals mean very little
  • The duplication of ideas causes problems about how meaningful any information on the site is
  • The structure of mystarbucksidea.com can actually make customers feel less heard than if there were no MSI at all.
  • After a while, from the customer perspective, it simply appears like no answer at all.  In the end, it leaves the customer or participant the feeling of talking to a brick wall.
  • The use of mystarbucksidea.com can blur with the purpose of Customer Relations:
  • Once in a while, baristas post hot-headed comments which reflect poorly on the image of Starbucks
  • What might be done to improve the site? * Eliminate the ability to so easily create a new thread
  • more control over ideas
  • Eliminate down votes
  • Enhance profile capacity
  • if down votes are eliminated, the site should probably be cleaned up by moderating and approving new posts, so that the threads that remain remain relevant.
  • hard to follow the conversation.
