These publications, authored by David T. Conley, all look at issues relating to college and career readiness. CEPR is located at the University of Oregon.

Op-Ed by David Brooks in the New York Times, October 31 2011. Brooks finds that the disparity between college grads and non-grads is much more glaring than that of the "1%" who are the focus of the Occupy Wall Street and similar movements. And he finds that this disparity is seen in small cities and towns all over America. Not only does he cite income disparity, but also family structure and things like health risks.

SERVE was funded to follow ECHS students in North Carolina into post-secondary.

College Board ACCUPLACER tests provide students with useful information about academic skills in math, English, and reading. Resource for students from The College Board

Schools are using Accuplacer as early as 9th grade to better prepare their students for meaningful high school work that will get them ready for college.

A program of the Greater Texas Foundation (GTF). Studying a cohort of 250,000 students who were in 9th grade in 1997, data showed that 75,000 "who graduated high school and enrolled in college left empty-handed." GTF then worked with FSG Social Impact Advisors to look at persistence and completion as they restructured their post-secondary scholarship funding. Two related reports are available on this page.

Mashable.com is a very popular site for learning more about important social media tools, with information on trends, lists (e.g. 11 Essential Social Media Resources You Might Have Missed), and how-tos, included guides to Twitter and Facebook.

Article about how Colleges United to Drive Down Cost of "Cloud Computing" published October 22, 2011. One issue is that the preponderance of 'free' cloud tools such as WordPress, DropBox, etc. are being used in great abundance by college professors. But these tools are not supported by the university, scatter the work across all kinds of platforms, and may cause violations of student privacy. So what are the implications for high school students and their teachers when a national organization uses the same tools in their online work?
