When I think of Medical history, the first thing that comes in my head is the Plague. The Plague was a terrifying disease that spread from fleas. You could get it by breathing the same air as the people tha have it. Guy de Chaulliac was a doctor at the time. He studied the patients and made research. He got sick and got the disease while trying. But thanks to his research he survived and cured himself. He even wrote a book for diseases that could help people out for 300 years after.

When I hear the word Aristocracy I think of the people who are Aristocrats. Aren´t they rich people who govermental power? They are sort of like the people right under the king. It is either in your blood or the way you are in the goverment. Like if you were a person in the Senate in Rome you were an Aristrocrat right?

Gutenburg helped us out a lot. If we did not have the printing press we would not be where we are today. Today we are moving up from paper to technology but that all started from Gutenburg. They were like to copy things. It is like the process of making books. It is a mechanical device that helps add pictures. It first started in Germany. I like learning to see how we improved from before to how we are now!

Flagellants were people the whip themselves and hurt themselves. This happened a lot during the Plague. They hurt themselves like that to show God that they are sorry for their sins. They believe if they do that God will forgive him. Woman started grabbing the blood and putting on themselves to show God the same. At that time people were desperate.

The Danse Macabre included skeletons dancing. The skeletons during the plague were a symbol of death. In most of the pictures made to describe the black death had skeletons in them. The " Trimuph of Death", shows skeletons grabbing, abusing and killling people. The deathly horror of the 14th century like the Hundred Years' War and most of all the Black death were culturally digested throughout Europe.

Scribes were writers back then. They had scribes like back to the time of Julius Caesar. They write down the words of famous people, they announce things to other people like that. I personally think being a scribe was a cool job. The person who got Constantine to be christian was a christian scribe. His name was Dia.

To show how awesome he was, as he was researching he even got the disease himself. He risked his life to save others. Nobody knew better than him that his chances of surviving are very slim. Looking over his research he was able to cure himself. He even made a book of surgery that could help others on diseases like this for 300 years! He is a very cool person. It´s funny, the people we need the most are the people that get killed first! ):

Mecca is the holyest place for the Muslims. After all that is where Muhammad started the religion. There is a big tent that is called tha Kaaba there. Before the people in Mecca who did not support the Islamic religion and culture did not like Muhammad and his followers. Muhammad and his companions, now 10,000 strong, decided to march into Mecca. However, instead of continuing their fight, the city of Mecca surrendered to Muhammad and his followers, who rather than seeking revenge for years of severe persecution, declared amnesty for the inhabitants.

Soldiers found them when he was practicing to fight. Godfrey was wounded. He was going to die. Before he died. He made Balian a knight. He died the very day and time he was made a knight. The Haitian Revolution took place during the French Revolution. It is basically about black slaves that all secretly planned to revolt. The leader was Touissant l'Ouverture ( sorry if I misspelled it). A nickname for him was the black George Washington and the black Spartacus. It was kind of like the story of Spartacus. All the slaves getting tired of how they are being treated and start to go crazy. In the United States they were scared to death. Especially the ones in the south. They were afraid it was going to happen there. The rule to have a slave is to keep them stupid and not look at the newspaper. George Washington who was the president wanted to stay out of it. All white masters were killed. Not just them but "everyone". If you were related to them you would die as well. All this treachery ended eventually Haiti became the first independent place. No matter what race you were you would be welcomed there. They even did that before us, the USA. That's a big honor.

Napoleon was a french military leader. He became Emperor of France. He would not let anybody crown him. So he asked the Pope from Rome to crown him. He was happy to. He was carrying the golden crown. Then when he was about to put it on him he takes it out of his hands and puts it on himself. He said to him , " You are worthy enough to carry my crown but the only person that can crown me is me." When he went to battle he would be out numbered and still win. For example, he was surrounded 3 to 1. Most leaders would just try to survive but he would kill them one by one. One time he was captured but when a leader surrenders they can't kill him. They put him on an island. He stayed there for 2 years. Then he went back to France. The countries were terrified their like, " Oh my God he's back!" He was a threat to all of them.

Kingdom of heaven was a really good movie. It was directed by Ridley Scott. He directed Gladiator as well. I like how Ridley Scott not only makes movies of history but actually puts historic facts. He does not put lies in the movies he tells us the truth very vividly and accurately.

Greek fire was a very dangerous weapon used in battles. It was found by the greek obviously but once they used it a lot other places did as well. For example Rome used it a lot. Greek fire was a type of fire that when you get it on you it will start burning your skin. It cannot come off. It was very useful in battle. I say that because you could get rid of people easlily that way. I remember we saw an example of Greek fire in the movie Gladiator. In the beginning there was a man full of fire and screams everywhere. :o

Haiti was first called Santo Domingo. It was very rich because they had sugar. Back then sugar was like gold if you have sugar you have power. They had sugar plantations. Back then they spoke some sort of french but not the same kind of french in France. For example, if you were a Haitian and you went to France they would know you were a Haitian by what French you speak. Back then there were white masters who had slaves. Black ones. They had enough. During the french revolution there was a slave revolt. They attacked their master. Killed "everyone". By everyone I mean not just the master, if you were related to them you would die as well. In the United States they were terrified. Especially in the south. They were more harsh on their slaves. They did not let them look at the newspapers because they were afraid it would happen there. They burnt down 184 sugar plantations because that is where they worked and where they're power came from. With the situation of Haiti in the present it is good to see how their past is.

Haiti was the first place to let all people come together no matter what races they are. They even did it before us, the United States. The story about the slave revolt is very similar to the story of Spartacus. As a matter of fact T.L was known as the black Spartacus. T.L. stands for Toussaint l'Ouverture. He was a former slave and the leader of the slave revolt. He grew up in a sugar plantation and then he was free.
