Our mission is developing next generation office productivity tools that take full advantage of collaboration over the internet. The arrival of Rich Internet Applications (RIA) gives us the power and the moment to redesign the office experience. We can now combine the best of the old off-line desktop with the new possibilities of web-based software, where users work anywhere, any time, on any connected computer. This gives us an opportunity to fundamentally reshape the way office tools look and feel. We can adapt them to the modern way of working, where enterprise success depends on good collaboration in virtual teams that spread geographically and across organizational lines. Our first product TextFlow, already available in beta, embodies our vision: The office experience, redesigned for flow. Nordic River Software AB is a privately held company, located by the banks of the Umea river in northern Sweden.

The ELISA corpus is being developed at the University of Tuebingen (Dept of Applied English Linguistics, AEL) and the University of Surrey (Dept of Languages and Translation Studies, LTS) as a resource for language learning and teaching, and interpreter training. It contains interviews with native speakers of English. They talk about their professional career (e.g. in tourism, politics, the media or environmental education). We are very grateful to all speakers for their kind contributions. You can use our Concordancer (written in PERL) on text versions of all corpus files. It can be utilized to extract KWIC concordances with variable context length, sentence concordances and word counts.

Open College Textbooks

Open Yale Courses provides free and open access to a selection of introductory courses taught by distinguished teachers and scholars at Yale University. The aim of the project is to expand access to educational materials for all who wish to learn. All lectures were recorded in the Yale College classroom and are available in video, audio, and text transcript format. Registration is not required and no course credit is available.

Welcome to IFComp 2008, the competition for short text adventures.

The Student Assessment of their Learning Gains (SALG) website allows instructors to gather learning-focused feedback from students. The SALG survey asks students to rate how each component of a course (e.g., textbook, collaborative work, labs) helped them to learn, and to rate their gains toward achieving the course goals. The SALG survey can be customized to fit any college-level course, and can be administered multiple times per course. A baseline instrument allows faculty to compare gains relative to incoming student characteristics. Once registered on the SALG site, you can: * customize the SALG survey to fit your course goals and methods; * search for an existing SALG survey in your discipline; * have students complete the survey on-line; and, * download and review analyses of the students' responses.

PICS Videoguidelines: The following guidelines should stimulate your work with video in language teaching. We have chosen a list-like format that should encourage teachers to scan quickly through the pages to find the argument or technique that best fits their immediate needs. We hope it goes without further saying that these guidelines are not meant to be prescriptive, but provocative; they are ideas, suggestions, perspectives, fragments of a larger universe of possibilities.
