Talk given at the close of the 2008 conference in Prague.

Is anyone going to AMEE this year? I was still there in prague when this presentation was given last year. there is another clip on Youtube that shows the Malaga bit better, but really it is a little bit like an advert for a resort. I wonder what function these video clips have. I would rather know about the way the conference will be structured and new ways they might have of working.

Post about a paper published in Computers and Education 2008 comparing student test results depending on whether they attended a specific classroom lecture or listened to the lecture as a podcast. There is also a link to the article. The results indicate that the students who listened to the podcast and tool notes scored significantly higher than the lecture condition.

Clickers are a great way to actively involve students in the class.

Recommendations issued in current ACC/AHA clinical practice guidelines are largely developed from lower levels of evidence or expert opinion. The proportion of recommendations for which there is no conclusive evidence is also growing. These findings highlight the need to improve the process of writing guidelines and to expand the evidence base from which clinical practice guidelines are derived.
