Getting Started with Chrome extension - Diigo help - 0 views

  • Use the “Save” option to bookmark a page. Bookmarking saves a link to the page in your online Diigo library, allowing you to easily access it later.
  • Highlighting can also be accomplished from the context pop-up. After the Chrome extension is installed, whenever you select text on a webpage, the context pop-up will appear, allowing you to accomplish text-related annotation. Highlight Pop-up Menu – After you highlight some text, position your mouse cursor over it and the highlight pop-up menu will appear. The highlight pop-up menu allows you to add notes to, share, or delete the highlight.
  • Sticky Note Click the middle icon on the annotation toolbar to add a sticky note to the page. With a sticky note, you can write your thoughts anywhere on a web page.

    The purpose of this action research project report was to increase reading comprehension by using cooperative learning. Reading comprehension was a concern for the three teacher researchers at both research sites. There were 51 first and second grade students, 28 elementary teachers, and 51 families of the first and second grade students involved for a total of 184 participants.

    Diigo's default comment: LearnZillion is the world's first open, cloud-based curriculum. We help teachers, schools, and districts improve instruction and respond to the specific needs of their students. My comments: Learn zillion provides a large bank of instructional videos and resources that align to the Common Core. The lessons are designed for teachers or students. I often show bits and pieces of certain videos to my students during our ELA or Math block. Occasionally I will just use a Learnzillion video for myself as a refresher on strategies for teaching a specific standard. This resource can help identify and eliminate instructional gaps in the classroom. Teachers can even log in and assign their students specific videos or just share a link.

iTunes University Course Manager - 0 views

    iTunes University is a learning platform for all ages and subjects to utilize. The course manager allows anyone to build and publish their own iTunesU courses. For example, teachers who recognize a learning gap within the intended standards can create a unit plan on iTunes U. Since they become the author of this instructional resource, students can really benefit as learners. iTunes University can also serve as a professional development resource. My colleague Matt and I have even used iTunes U course manager to develop a course for teachers all over the world to use. Effectiveness of Computer Assisted Instruction on Student Math Achievement - 0 views

    The study compares students (grade 4) that received traditional instruction to those who received computer assisted instruction (CAI) with traditional instruction for basic math facts. The results show that daily CAI positively effects student math achievement. This study is interesting in that students received 10 minutes of CAI to achieve these results.

    The study described in this article is very interesting because it relates to our group's Exploratory Question. We are trying to see if computer practice one or twice a week correlates to progress in students' mastering their addition and subtraction facts. As shown in the article, computer assisted instruction had a positive impact on the students' fluency of basic math facts.

    This article provides a literature review on studies that have been completed to look at the impact of Computer Technology and Math learning. This review looked at 46 studies that were conducted. The results overall showed a positive effect when Computer Technology was being used. However, the study also points out that when using CT, it must be combined with good teaching in order to maximize student understanding and learning.

Math Snacks: Using Animations and Games to Fill the Gaps in Mathematics - 1 views

    In this study, researchers are looking at the impact of Math Snacks on student achievement in Mathematics. Nine teachers in 2 districts took part in this research. The results showed that when teachers used Math Snacks and the materials in the program, there was a positive impact on student achievement. However, because of the small sample size, the results cannot be generalized.
