MaRS Discovery District Phase II construction is now underway and scheduled for completion in September 2013. Public Health Ontario and Ontario Institute for Cancer Research will be the anchor tenants in the Phase II development.

MaRS Discovery District Phase II Development is progressing well. PCL Constructors Canada Inc is a general contractor that is constructing a 21-storey building that will add one million square feet to the existing 750,000 square foot facility and is scheduled for completion for late 2013. 

"Diamond Schmitt Architects will design research laboratory space for the Ontario Institute for Cancer Research (OICR) at the MaRS Phase II west tower currently under construction in downtown Toronto." MaRS Phase II occupancy is slatted for 2013.

Mention of MaRS Phase 2

MaRS is relaunching construction of its Phase 2 project, that was put on hold when the recession hit. The MaRS Phase 2 construction is expected to be completed by 2013.

Why Should I Care event took place on April 16th. Dr. Ilse Treurnicht, CEO of MaRS Discovery District discussed how the development of Phase 2 will help to build tomorrow's knowledge-based economy.

Diamond Schmitt Architects will provide architectural design services for a new public health laboratory, along with office and support space, at the MaRS Centre in the Phase II development in Toronto.

The MaRS Phase II project is expected to be completed in 2013. Currently, the window work is underway.

The Stephen Hawking Centre is now open at the Perimeter Institute for Theoretical Physics (PI) in Ontario, Canada.The Phase II of the MaRS Discovery District construction is just one in a series of recent, major investments that are increasing Ontario's innovation, research and development capacities.

MaRS Discovery District is expanding. MaRS' Phase 2 development will be completed in 2013. Don Duval, Vice President of Advisory Services states " Our mandate is to work with early stage ventures and help these companies grow ... The program's success, he says, is measured by "the amount of jobs and wealth our companies notable successes.

Many medical laboratories within the province of Ontario are operating with outdated equipment, which is a contributing factor of the incapability to dea with major outbreaks of diseases. There is a modern laboratory estimated at $ 40 million that is planned to go into MaRS Phase II complex. 

Mike Williams, Toronto's general manager of economic development mentioned that although the MaRS Phase 2 project was one of the projects that was stalled in 2008-2009, because of the recession, it has now been restarted.

MaRS Discovery District  announced that its Phase II construction and it is expected to be completed by 2013.
