"Last year we presented "10 of the best apps for education," which highlighted some of the best apps for iPhones and iPods. However, with new upgrades in touch technology, HD and 3D features, and the debut of the iPad, we've come up with a new list of the best Apple-based education apps for 2012."

iPhone + OpenCongress = Real Time Congress - Blog - OpenCongress - 0 views

  •
This is a great application to be able to follow what the congressional committees and both bodies of Congress are doing each day. It even includes schedules for each day Congress is in session. When I interned in the US Senate, this would have been a great application to use instead of printing schedules each day. I know of several people working in politics who use this application.

100 Apps for Tech-Savvy Teachers | Diigo - 0 views

This is a great page that shows different applications for the iPhone that are designed to assist educators. They include test generators, plagiarizing catching tools, and organizational tools. I also noticed that Moodle is on here, and I want to download that to make my time at Harrisburg University easier as I live with my iPhone. I have not heard of many of these applications, but they look like helpful resources.

Google Swiffy - 1 views

  •
"Swiffy converts Flash SWF files to HTML5, allowing you to reuse Flash content on devices without a Flash player (such as iPhones and iPads). Swiffy currently supports a subset of SWF 8 and ActionScript 2.0, and the output works in all Webkit browsers such as Chrome and Mobile Safari. If possible, exporting your Flash animation as a SWF 5 file might give better results. "

It seems that there is applications on the iPhone for everything! This article announces the release of the first application for Sociology. I did not know about it during my sociology studies, but I believe any application for academics could be powerful tools for students.

Helpful Student Blackberry Apps - Study Applications for Students - 0 views

  •
Many of my posts and others have focused on applications for iPhones or the Android. I have found a good list of applications for students for the BlackBerry. I had a BlackBerry before I made the transition to Apple, and would of loved to been able to use some of these tools. The list includes planning tools, grade tracking, flashcard tools, and more!

Android Apps You Will Love - 0 views

  •
This blog lists some helpful applications for the Android phone. I posted about apps earlier which was more centered for iPhones, so I found this to be interesting. I do not have an Android, but I know many people who do. The list includes apps for record keeping, storage, graphing, measurements, flash card building, and more. There was even the mention of Wolfram Alpha which we learned more about in our most recent class. This blog can be very helpful for educators and students that have the Android.

Google Maps Mania - 0 views

  • GeoMeme is the fun way to measure and share real-time local Twitter trends on a Google Map. Using the map it is possible to view Tweets from any location in the world. Positive Tweets are streamed on the left of the map and negative Tweets from that location are streamed on the right.Tweets are located on the map using public data from a number of iPhone Twitter apps. The Google Map shows the thumbnail portraits of Twitters directly on the map. Clicking on any of the thumbnails scrolls the streaming Tweets to that person's message. The site also uses the Google Static Maps API to show thumbnails of suggested locations in the search box. The thumbnail suggestions actually appear and change as you type a location. Very cool!
