We are especially familiar with the psychological flow triggers. In this slide, Steven Kohler who is a New York Times bestselling author, an award-winning journalist, and the cofounder and director of research for the Flow Genome Project varies flow triggers in four categories; psychological, environmental, social and creative. Kohler mentions flow triggers in more details in his book called The Rise of Superman. I watched trailers of his book beside watching this slide. I think it is a good point to relate creativity and flow in this way. Also, social and environmental aspects are essential because not in every flow moment, we're alone. So, I think this slide (and the book if you can buy) would be informative for you.

The Pursuit Of Happyness is beyond a film for me, because the impact of film changed my point of view and ideas a lot. Maybe you watched it but if you do not know its topic, the film is based on true life story of Chris Gardner who established Gardner Rich company at Wall Street starting with selling medical devices at his penniless situation. The scene is taken from that movie and although it is simple scene, I think the idea behind that scene is really important for intrinsic motivation. Because like at the scene, people say you cannot and we believe them or we want to believe them because we think it is really hard. However, all we have to do is just wanting and struggling.

Mihaly Csikszentmihalyi's Ted Talk about how the flow term is appeared. Beyond, how he started to deal with psychology and the only aim of him to find an answer to "What makes a life worth living?" He searched an answer at different area and find the best answer at psychology. Although he know nothing about Carl Jung, even he doesn't know the name of him (I am surprised to that); after participating at one of his conference; he affected and started to deal with psychology. Finally, after this studies, he appeared the term, 'flow'.

I like this painting of Dali! Although it can be commented in various ways, we can comment it from the point of view of flow theory like; in the flow moment you don't realize time flies until that moment ends. Thus, I agree with you that it really fits into distortion of sense of time.

TeachLive of the University of Central Florida is a virtual platform that the teachers can test out their classroom management skills before going up on the "big stage". What it basically does is to place a teacher-in-training in a virtual classroom populated by computer-generated students. A Skype conference call and a Microsoft Kinect motion sensor power the high-tech pantomiming behind the platform. It's currently being used at more than 80 campuses across the U.S. to train some of the next generation of educators, and it appears to be working.

Very interesting. I was thinking for a similar program for training clinical psychologists. Looks like it'll be a thing in the coming years.

This is a very useful platform, I think. Pre-service teachers are facing some problems at classroom management. I always think it is absurd to give classroom management lesson at theoretical and that is the best way to teach teacher candidated.

Learning analytics (LA). Is it something we do to students, rather than do for them or do with them?

KlassData is a kind of Learning analytic tool. This video exlplains why LA is needed and how it can be beneficial for educational settings shortly.

I liked Klass Data because, it is respectful to students. It asks their consent. I mean it respects to the "informed consent" principle of ethics.

This article contrasts and compares analytic approaches to common problems at two comparable institutions. In keeping with this intent, it features complementary sets of issues focusing on recruitment and related issues at UMES and retention at BSU. UMES does extend its efforts into student retention, though the details are not explicated in the article. Additionally, UMES is implementing the retention-focused aspects of Starfish Early Alert as BSU has done. Still, there are differences in approach: UMES relies primarily on the flag-centered model, while BSU relies on the student-centered model for interventions. Learning analytics aims to enable teachers and institutions to tailor education to the needs and abilities of individual students. It does so by analysing a wide range of data, such as how students do in completing assignments and taking exams, their online social interactions, extracurricular activities and posts on discussion forums, for example. The beneficiaries are not just students; these technologies could be used to assess curricula and pedagogy, as well.

This news is about the ethical issues that may arise by learning analytics practices. A software program called Course Signals tracks various pieces of information, including the number of points earned in the course and the amount of time the student has spent logged in to the college's software platform.
