    We are especially familiar with the psychological flow triggers. In this slide, Steven Kohler who is a New York Times bestselling author, an award-winning journalist, and the cofounder and director of research for the Flow Genome Project varies flow triggers in four categories; psychological, environmental, social and creative. Kohler mentions flow triggers in more details in his book called The Rise of Superman. I watched trailers of his book beside watching this slide. I think it is a good point to relate creativity and flow in this way. Also, social and environmental aspects are essential because not in every flow moment, we're alone. So, I think this slide (and the book if you can buy) would be informative for you.

    Hi, When I was reading motivation chapter, I have thought that the following statement can be true for this activity However, attempts to enhance interest can backfire and decrease learning. Brophy (1999) cautioned against using "bells and whistles" to obtain interest. Evidence from the interest literature specifically cautions against using seductive details in text (Schraw & Lehman, 2001). Seductive details are highly interesting for students, but may draw attention toward issues that are less relevant, potentially deflecting attention away from key ideas. Using classroom demonstrations in science that include explosions or other attention getting devices has similar effects. What do you think? Is there any rule for engaging classroom activities to increase learning

    Hi Evrim Hocam; Thanks for sharing this video. I lwatched and istened to it with great curiosity :) Hi Selçuk; I agree with you to some extent. If the point is having students memorize something, it is useful. Yet, if the point is related to deep understanding, it is not very beneficial.

    Yes, I agree repetition and passive demonstration may not have as much impact as active exploration. I recommend using these approaches for factual learning or things that require recall. But, for deep learning, other approaches such as problem based learning offer much better results.

    Doodle3D Transform is a new 3D app that you can transfom your 2D drawings easily into 3D designs. Beside drawing by hand, you can also scan your photos or upload existing ones. After completing designs, you can send to 3D printer and have it. This project attract much attention at Kickstarter and they collected enough fund. This application can not be a sort of augmented reality one, I don't know but I want to share. I think, it is very usable and helpful for especially kindergarten students. Besides, while STEM is gaining many attention at the education society; this app can also be usable at other level with developing some extensions. Creativity is very important for all students at education and it is very appropriate for that mission. Using pen at our mobile education is still can be spectacular sometimes and I cannot imagine what will possibly happen if developers of that application succeed.

    Thanks for sharing! It looks really beneficial and inspiring for not only kids but also for all the people who want to make a tangible product which they have created by just a simple drawing. And the best thing is that they don't need to know any programming language to design.

    First time I watched about these kind of programs and efectiveness in education i had some questionmarks in my mind. Because according to the documentary, it was not as effective as going to school and it was not so much fun to take an online course. That is why drop-outs of school was pretty high at that time. But this looks more effective and more suitable for learning for sure! thanks for sharing!

    Although online courses has some disadvantages, that platform is beyond online courses I think because it allow followers interaction instead of just slides or videos. Also I do not remember the exact details but when that platform was founded, the demand for one course was over the expected and the system was broken. Then, the same lesson began to be given as formal education and at all users who completed the course with 100 points are the ones who take the course online.

    Coursera was suggested me to improve my academic speaking skills by my adviser so I have a coursera account :) There are presentations, online courses, online exams and homework etc. Also, you can get a certificate that is valid international after completing the course successfully. Unfortunately, I did not benefit from it because the price of the course was too high, therefore I gave up the course.

I have checked one of the authors' recent publications and realized that he has researches on self-regulation during learning ,example-tracing tutors, interesting concepts to examine.

    Kids like technology for certain reasons like entartainment or searching data. Altough it sounds a good idea to insert some info into games, I observe that children all over the world like games related to killing, stealing or car racing.

    I think games always work and the company seems really successful at locating the points children may find interesting and enjoyable. After reading your post, I watched a video at youtube, Hickory-Dickory Dock and it was very enjoyable. It teaches not only vocabulary but also how to tell time. It seems a really effective tool. Like the company, I also think that students should be exposed to the changes in the technology. There is always a world outside the classroom and they should keep themselves up-to-date. And our job is to provide them with such opportunities.

    Actually your point is really important, changes in the technology should be followed and used as a tool in the classroom, the tools that are significant in terms educational value for sure. Or the other end would include only games on stealing or killing as mentioned. I have checked out Hickory-Dickory Dock now and it seems effective to me as well. The website "mindshapes.com", provides us with detailed information on the games.
