Mostly probably all of you are familiar with Dyned. It is an interactive software for learning English and it is a quite good innovation in the field of computer assisted language learning. It is tired to be used in the public schools and Turkish Ministry of Education supports this.

So perhaps, "motivation" is an important issue to consider with cognitive tutors. Let's cover some of the motivational aspects of cognitive tutors and intelligent tutoring systems in class.

I think when sts are first introduced with such programs, they display high motivation. They are eager to find the secrets of the program. However, as time passes and as they get used to the style of the program, their motivation decreases since there are no secrets anymore. Therefore, in my opinion, to keep their motivation at its highest level, each module (if it's modular) should introduce new ways of learning.

Sajan George TedX Talk about the future of education. Sajan is the Founder & CEO of Matchbook Learning, a national non-profit school turnaround management organization that has designed and implemented a unique blended model of school, the only one of its kind targeting turnaround (i.e. bottom 5%) public schools that blends face-to-face and virtual instruction.

Tynker is the English online platform where the students (children) are taught programming. The aim of the platform is to provide a solid infrastructure for STEM to prepare for the 21st century. Its slogan is "the easiest way to learn programming at school" and more than 20,000 schools use this program. It also include design base learning. I think learning programming at early ages is very important for children to develop their critical and algorithmic thinking skills. This platform facilitates both teachers' work and makes it fun for children.

I really like the program. Even I can use it to learn the basic things from this program. Thanks for the share!

Coursera is one of the best platforms for computer supported collaborative learning. There are numerous classes from the top universities in the world, and the expansion of these classes are run through discussions in class forums. Lots of people get together to create projects and share them with their peers.

Although online courses has some disadvantages, that platform is beyond online courses I think because it allow followers interaction instead of just slides or videos. Also I do not remember the exact details but when that platform was founded, the demand for one course was over the expected and the system was broken. Then, the same lesson began to be given as formal education and at all users who completed the course with 100 points are the ones who take the course online.

Coursera was suggested me to improve my academic speaking skills by my adviser so I have a coursera account :) There are presentations, online courses, online exams and homework etc. Also, you can get a certificate that is valid international after completing the course successfully. Unfortunately, I did not benefit from it because the price of the course was too high, therefore I gave up the course.

Hocam, it would be nice to build a DBR team, we desperately need such an innovation in our field. Maybe, there can be DBR schools where researchers can work with voluntary teachers. If some incentives are provided for the teachers by MONE, they will work eagerly in the projects. Just an example: nowadays, lots of English teachers are doing really good Comenius projects and the motive behind their hard work is going abroad:)

LD is frequently mistaken as laziness or associated with disorders of emotion and behavior.

In my undergraduate education, I had chance to be involved in a project on the learning disability; dyslexia, problems of sounds and words. We gathered data from children in various elementary school children in Istanbul. This was a fruitful experience to learn on the topic learning disabilities.

I wanted to share a topic on learning disabilities as I have encountered such students studying at the college I work for and did not know what to do with them. When I tried to involve parents to acknowledge them they preferred blaming the education system or the school itself. It must be very difficult for a parent to accept it but as teachers we need to be more knowledgeable about what to do and how to deal with it to save these learners with learning disabilities from exclusion and failure.

This is a TED talk by Sugata Mitra, the Professor of Educational Technology at the School of Education, Communication and Language Sciences at Newcastle University, England. He mentions about his "Hole in the Wall" experiment and SOLE (self-organized learning environment). He defines learning as the product of educational self-organization. There are many interesting implications for the future of learning. So what are your opinions about future of learning?

Sammamish High School in the US decided to change from traditional teaching to an entirely problem-based curriculum. Since Kolodner et al. (2009) married Case-Based Reasoning to Problem-Based Learning, I thought it would be useful to see PBL in practice.

The San Diego Unified School District (SDUSD) has embraced TPACK in its professional development model. They decided to integrate the model in every aspect of classroom teaching and learning.

A video in which there is an example of how TPACK is used in hands on context in learning of Biology and Maths. Possum magic' demonstrates the key elements of TPACK in a hands-on learning context. Students at Pallara State School in Queensland monitor possum activity using 24 hour surveillance cameras linked to their classroom computers. They learn Science, Biology and Maths content through this project. Pedagogical knowledge, content knowledge and technological knowledge are embedded and integrated in an authentic deep learning collaboration.

In this school, there is also an online voice recorder for students to ask experts their questions.

When I was reading Blumenfeld and Rogat's article, the part about authenticity, I encountered the term "BGuILE" and checked it out. If you are interested in, it is a tool and it is not active now, last update is 2002. It says BGuILE, learning environments bring scientific inquiry into middle school science and high school biology classrooms. The environments consist of computer-based scenarios and associated classroom activities in which students conduct authentic scientific investigations.

Professor Anthony Kelly from Southampton Education School at the University of Southampton answers the following questions: Is design based research a method on its own? Is design based research only for formative research or can it also be summative? How is design-based research different from mixed-methods? He says that design-based research is not a method like "qualitative", "quantitative" or "mixed". Rather, it is a research "genre" or "paradigm" which can use different methods when necessary. In fact, at most of the time, researchers collect quantitative and qualitative data in DBR.

They say "No one else does what we do" while mentioning their interdisciplinary approach. They say that "The learning sciences field emerged more than two decades ago after researchers found that what worked in a laboratory simply did not hold up with real children, teachers, classrooms and workplaces. They saw that learning technologies, which held great promise for solving education's problems, were not being transferred to classrooms and schools. Cognitive scientists, educational and instructional psychologists, and computer scientists worked together to put their ideas and knowledge to use to improve the learning outcomes for a diverse group." The institute basically do two things: 1 - They identify the critical challenges in education, literacy, mathematics, science and the social sciences. 2- They work to find solutions. Their main aim is to create learning systems for 21st century classrooms thanks to interdisciplinary research in teaching and learning. They believe that learning is a complex process and so they get benefit from different disciplines (e.g. anthropology, computer science, education, linguistics, psychology and sociology) to share knowledge and best practices on education. At their another webpage, they define learning science as a science which "focuses on how to create new, improved and equitable learning environments for 21st century learners.". In order accomplish this, they focus on four questions: 1- How do people learn? 2- What do we want them to know and be able to do? 3- How can we design learning environments that help them learn? 4- How can we monitor what they are learning? They offer a Ph.D. program to raise future learning scientists.

I have seen this post when I was searching for how can interaction with peers contribute to learning maths. It is written by ROBERT SUN who is the CEO of Suntex International and inventor of First In Math, an online program designed for deep practice in mathematics. The things that are mentioned felt very similar with our country's situation actually, as learners how do we use concepts of maths (or any other courses) except from school? May be the first reason for our students cannot learn and hate maths is behind this question.

"Teachers can encourage their students to express themselves verbally using mathematical terms; even in the early grades, children can be asked to explain what they want or mean using numbers, or relationships between numbers. Anything that encourages them to talk about math and mathematical concepts is beneficial." Social math!. It looks like article emphasizes the importance of language in information exchange. It reminds me Vygotsky's socio-cultural theory in which he also believed that language is important for learning. He also purported that language is culture-dependent so each cultures' learning may be different from each other. In addition, providing opportunity to students to express themselves verbally can give us clues about current mental maps of students as to a specific topic (what is correct, what needs improvement, etc.). In addition, students can transfer their transformed ideas (ideas transformed from scholarly language to level-appropriate language) to their friends which can facilitate their learning.

Yasin, I am curious to hear about some of the contemporary approaches towards teaching Math, a subject generally taught with more traditional methods. Regarding mathphobia, we also need to think about the culture that stimulates that.

College professors and instructors can learn a lot from the chapters of a digital textbook that they assign students to read. Reynol Junco, an associate professor in Iowa State University's School of Education, says digital books provide real-time analytics to help faculty assess how students are doing in the class.

In this research, digital textbook is used for predicting students outcomes. With help of digital text book, instructors can track the time students spend reading. On the other hand, with regular textbooks, instructor do not know how students are doing or whether they read the assigned material or not until they give a graded assignment. Digital text book gives opportunity to teacher to monitor their students' actions and can take precation to make students read the material.With help of digital text book, instructors can track the time students spend on reading. By this way, instructor can gain some information like the material complexity for students reading level and s/he can adapt course material or take other precautions to help students succeed.

The article is about Generation Y which is the students in our classes now. In his article, Peter Reilly mentions about a new generation called "Generation Y " and its features. Firstly he talks on four different generation types which are "the baby boomer generation", "generation X", "generation Y" and "generation Z" respectively. He takes generation Y especially because I think they are the young people of our world and there isn't enough knowledge about them. He mentions about some features of generation Y members who prefer multitask rather than focusing one thing in a time. Also they are more concerned about what their employer can do for them rather than what they can do for a company.In the school, Gen Y wants technology integrated multitask ways rather than traditional old-way.
