Microsoft has joined the list of prominent technology companies confirming they have been hit by a recent computer hacking attack. In a blog posting Friday, Microsoft said it had found no evidence that any customer data had been heisted. Microsoft Corp.

Microsoft still hasn't connected to all of its providers and/or is still trying find the best option for people without broadband. Microsoft has planned to reach out to other partners to achieve this.

The new Microsoft, under the leadership of Satya Nadella, is making surprising and positive moves. The company just announced a Linux powered operating system for data center networking. Kamala Subramaniam, Principal Architect, Azure Networking wrote on the company blog, "The Azure Cloud Switch (ACS) is our foray into building our own software for running network devices like switches.

"Researchers at the University of Washington and Microsoft are developing one of the first complete storage systems to house digital data in DNA."

It is a litte bit of an oudated article, and it has some specificity to Windows 2000 that I am not sure if applies to other operating systems, but other than that, the article seems to be very good.

Microsoft's Bing actually powered by Google.

Microsoft's virtual assistant Cortana is now available on the Windows 10 Technical Preview. Cortana -- who is named after the AI co-star in Microsoft's Halo series -- is the company's answer to Siri and Google Now. She takes over the operating system's search functionality, tackling local searches as well as helping you track down stuff on the Web.

While this policy does not apply to the Google Chrome browser; the newest iteration (version 16) of Google Chrome always asks you to sign in to "your Google Account" when it starts. Even if you do not sign in to the Google Account, it takes longer to get to your webpages that you want to view. If you signed into the Google Account and they tracked you, this would likely make the browser perform less quickly. Google's search (pun intended) for advertising dollars is not only making people leery about privacy issues, but it also impacting the quality of their browser, in my opinion; as a browser's primary focus should be to display webpages (as Internet Explorer does not try to get me to buy Microsoft Word). I feel that this could hurt their business in the short run, and maybe even permanently.

Thanks Brock sometimes I get the DHCP and DNS mixed up. I say DNS when I mean DHCP this article should help me keep the difference frresh in my mind.
