Scribd converts files that are uploaded (PDF, Word, Powerpoint) into searchable web documents that can be embedded on web pages.

From their "Pinning 101" notes, Pinterest is an "online pinboard." The explicit purpose is to bookmark and share images from the web, and to annotate them. While the site emphasizes "beautiful" things from the web, with a suggestion of domestic purposes, this might be another way to generate collaborative collages (as we've done with GSCC) or to share non-written artifacts on a specific topic.

Pachyderm is an easy-to-use multimedia authoring tool. Designed for people with little multimedia experience, Pachyderm is accessed through a web browser and is as easy to use as filling out a web form. Authors upload their own media (images, audio clips, and short video segments) and place them into pre-designed templates, which can play video and audio, link to other templates, zoom in on images, and more. Once the templates have been completed and linked together, the presentation is published and can then be downloaded and placed on the author's website or on a CD or DVD ROM. Authors may also leave their presentations on the Pachyderm server and link directly to them there. The result is an attractive, interactive Flash-based multimedia presentation.

This is a really great e-book (free, downloadable PDF) which organizes Web 2.0 education projects by grade level, including a section for adult learners, and a section of resources. There are links to all projects and analysis and self-reflection by the project creators.

Though their primary audience is K-12, EduDemic offers social media/web 2.0 tools that are of use to students and teachers -- many applicable to the education world beyond K-12 as well.

Quia is short for Quintessential Instructional Archive. It provides instructional tools including: templates for creating online activities, online testing tools, access to over 3 million online activities and quizzes, a schoolwide network to promote collaboration, a centralized classroom management system, a class Web page creator and online surveys for gathering student and teacher feedback.

[According to Wikipedia, "Sharable Content Object Reference Model (SCORM) is a collection of standards and specifications for web-based e-learning."]. It appears to relate to learning analytics, and the blogger describes applications in the workplace (not merely for post-secondary education).

This book documents a collaboration between a university and a local public high school, where the high school teachers "extended their own professional learning to revitalize learning in their classrooms." The collaboration was called TEACH (Technology, Equity, And Culture in High-performing schools). The book is offered free, through this web page.

Presented by the Knight Digital Media Center, these presentations are described as "multimedia and internet technology training workshops," on topics like Digital Storytelling ("How to tell stories with Data (Reallly)") and Web 2.0 Training ("Digital Visualization Strategy and Workflow" or "Data Visualization on a Budget"). While the workshops are geared to journalists, many of the lessons might be relevant to those in other public-facing fields as well.

The tools are only roughly categorized. As the author notes, "It is not about the tools, it's about the skills." That said, there are some interesting tools here.

Phoebe, a "pedagogic planner" is, per the website "a web application designed to provide inspiration and practical support for learning design." In addition to building learning designs in Pheobe, users can also look at the learning design of others.
