  •
This video, by the "amazing" but otherwise anonymous Valerie, is posted to Nancy White's Full Circle website on Dec 13 2011. Nancy presented on change, social artists, and social artistry at a Change MOOC. This video attempts to both summarize and apply what Valerie learned from Nancy's presentation.

What do you think of the term "social artistry" to describe KPI? Or "social artists" to describe the work of the KPI team?

Pachyderm Services - 2 views

Pachyderm is an easy-to-use multimedia authoring tool. Designed for people with little multimedia experience, Pachyderm is accessed through a web browser and is as easy to use as filling out a web form. Authors upload their own media (images, audio clips, and short video segments) and place them into pre-designed templates, which can play video and audio, link to other templates, zoom in on images, and more. Once the templates have been completed and linked together, the presentation is published and can then be downloaded and placed on the author's website or on a CD or DVD ROM. Authors may also leave their presentations on the Pachyderm server and link directly to them there. The result is an attractive, interactive Flash-based multimedia presentation.

Harold Jarche » A case for social learning in business - 0 views

  •
Excellent video on how businesses need to redesign their systems to support listening, learning, sharing--more people you know, the more things you can do--"next practices" drawn from Jarche's blog

Very interesting yet short video on social learning as it relates to business but at first glance, they seem to apply to nonprofits/educational groups, too.

Using Video in Teaching and Professional Development - LiteracyTentWiki - 0 views

  •
Under the auspices of the US Department of Education, discussions are held via a listserve about professional development. This wiki contains an organized multi-day discussion on using video in teaching and staff development carried out through the list-serve. The list-serve is subscriber based but I guess both the discussion and accompanying wiki are open to the public. Issues for me: Should KPI consider offering the organized Jam transcript in the form of a wiki? Should it be open for discovery or only available to Jam participants?

With a presence both on the internet and on TV (PBS), Teaching Channel calls itself a "showcase" of "inspiring and effective teaching practices in America's schools." The organization's mission "is to revolutionize how teachers learn, connect, and inspire each other to improve the outcomes for all K-12 students across America." Browse videos by subject, grade level or topic (all from the left-hand navigation). In addition, there is a blog. Users are encouraged to subscribe, and the Teachers space is also organized by subject and grade-level, as well as by roles. The site also provides a workspace.

OpenIDEO - 1 views

  •
From About Us, "OpenIDEO is a place where people design better, together for social good." Using an online platform and a very structured approach to problem-solving (inspiration, concepting, and evaluation) are followed, ideally, by implementation, all the while, harnassing the power of crowd-sourcing. See How It Works tab for a video that more effectively explains the process.
  •
I found the video inspiring. OpenIDEO's work is very similar to ours, though they use the power of the crowd while ours is (usually) at least somewhat restricted. But I love the clearly delineated process, the idea that more is better, and the fact that each of us might be stronger in one aspect of the process than the other(s). The website, too, is inspiring, as the homepage lays out all of the projects, with a barometer to describe where each project is in the process.
