The techniques, called machine learning, are applicable for technology development, finance, bioscience or pretty much anything else that is getting counted and stored online these days. As Flatiron Partners Fred Wilson was a funder behind Seth's Yoyodyne online marketing company that was sold to Yahoo. On Fred's blog is a post about "Disruption" and link to the video of a presentation recently given at Google surveying industries and where opportunities for investing in disruption exist. It is highly recommended viewing for a look ahead.
