Digital storytelling tool - upload the photos, arrange the photo order and record your story based on the photo being viewed. This would be great to have students retell what happened on a field trip or create an oral creative writing story based on photos chosen by the student or teacher. Students could even create a book project over a novel or short story with this tool.

"More and more websites are coming online to give students the ability to unleash their creativity in new and innovative ways. From abstract art to pointillism, students now can click and draw their way into original works of art, and today's freebie gives you a great list of places to begin. The sites are labeled by grade level to help guide you to those that best suit your students. In addition, I've added ratings to give teachers and students an idea of how much interactivity is available at each site. Some allow students to create from beginning to end, while others simply generate the final product with minimal effort. What you will not find here are basic virtual coloring sheets. I tried to find sites that would give students a chance to generate their own original works of art. What could be better? I will warn you that some of these sites will drag you in to create for long periods of time. Don't worry, you'll just be channeling your inner artist. Have fun!"

"If you want proof social media technologies can transform lives, look no further than 6th grader Greyson Chance of Edmond, Oklahoma. Two weeks ago Greyson's father used a hand-held camera to record his son's piano and vocal performance of Lady Gaga's song, "Paparazzi" at a local church. The video went viral within 2 days of its posting on YouTube, with over 1.5 million hits in the first 48 hours. Currently the video has over 11.9 million views, but that number does not include NUMEROUS copies which have been posted by others seeking a moment of YouTube fame from the web searches for "Greyson Lady Gaga Ellen" and similar search engine queries."

Planet Quest Alien Safari is a great interactive site for kids. It lets you go on an adventure by exploring different "life zones" around the world. By visiting these, you will find all different types of organisms that are living on our planet. Students get to learn about what the organisms reveal about finding life in space. So, they will learn which can survive without sunlight, which have a high radiation dose, the most acidic and the ones that live the furthest underground, for example. By clicking on a life zone on the 3D Earth, you can watch a video introduction to that organism. This website is a great classroom and research tool. You can use it to simply explore all the things around you, or use it as a starter for deeper learning and researching on a specific subject or topic. Students can really get creative by writing stories and other works of writing based on the subjects and organisms they have been learning about. This site is a great tool to use in the classroom on an interactive whiteboard. With the music and interactive nature of the site, the whole class can get involved with learning about the various organisms. Go on a safari without leaving the room!

iMovie has made a surge into classroom instruction, in part because of the rapid growth in the field of digital video and partly because of Apple's superior software design that offers tremendous ease for the user. Like all educational technology, desktop video editing is not a ubiquitous solution for all of the challenges teachers face in today's classroom. Teachers using digital video, in particular iMovie, have provided an abundance of anecdotal evidence for encouraging individual expression, spawning creativity, revitalizing content, promoting collective knowledge construction and individual reflection, and offering students of a variety of backgrounds and experiences to engage in authentic learning.
