The Journey Of Content From Doordarshan To Tik Tok - 0 views

  •
As a child, your father would've sat in front of a television screen and watched the 9 PM film screening on Doordarshan with ten others - cousins, aunts, uncles and neighbours. There was one T.V. in the house and it belonged to everybody. Today, you watch the latest action flick on your phone, on a screen that fits in your pocket, with two others - earphones and popcorn. The content that you are watching has come a long way, has had a journey, a history. The channels and methods through which it is available to you have witnessed an evolution. As viewers, we have evolved too. Our tastes, preferences, and the ways in which we consume have changed drastically. They have enabled and been the basis of a revolution in the consumption, production and transmission of content.

How nonfiction authors can tell powerful stories - 0 views

  •
Not every book can be a thriller or a heartbreaker. But yours can. It is a superb way to stand out from the crowd - to produce a book that stands head and shoulders above other books in your field. Keep them reading, pull at their emotions, and your book is more likely to make its point.

Drowning in chocolate: an apology ... eventually - 0 views

All of us spend way too much time online. The big question is: How well is that time spent? We read things and, five minutes later, couldn't tell you what we've read. We post blogs and update our Facebook status and imagine there are people who are really interested but are they-and we, of course-only going through the motions of showing interest? And woe betide you if you're trying to sell something to your peers because the odds are they're trying to sell something to you and if they buy what you're offering and you buy what they're offering isn't that all a bit pointless? Step back, take off the pink-tinted glasses and have a fresh look at your online habits.

Female UCLA student sexually assaulted on stairway - 0 views

  •
LOS ANGELES | January 28, 2012 Police continue a search for a man accused of sexual assault of a female UCLA student, the university which is ranked second of all universities nationwide and first in community service according to Washington Monthly's rankings. The sexual assault occurred at about 2:20 a.m. Friday at the top of the steps that connects the Saxon Suites dormitories with Gayley Avenue. The man accused of the assault called out to the female UCLA student while she was climbing the steps. After a short conversation, the man sexually assaulted her. Their brief conversation could have sounded something similar to the following: "Hey. What's your name? What's your major? Do you live around here? Yes? Well take some of this," and the sexual assault occurred. The assault victim eventually got away from the man and immediately called the police, who arrived shortly thereafter and after the man had already fled the scene, according to a report in the Los Angeles Times. It appears that UCLA police are looking for the suspect who is described as a 6 foot tall white male weighing 150 pounds and about 21 years old with short brown hair and blue eyes, according to a crime alert issued by the UCLA's campus police department. NBC4 was told by several students that the sexual assault occurred along a narrow stairway where other similar crimes have occurred in the past. Those students said that female students usually try to avoid walking the stairway alone at night.
