The Portfolio of Carl Carbonell - 0 views

  •
A nice looking portfolio site. So simple and straightforward! Carl Carbonell's site was selected by HOW magazine as one of October's top 10 sites for designers. He could have probably set up his store and blog all one one site with WordPress! (he didn't)

How I used a WordPress Child Theme To Redesign My Blog - 0 views

  •
This site helps out a little bit with Child themes. I think that Professor Wolff did a pretty good job explaining them in class. But if anyone was confused at all I think that this site helps out with some examples. There were a few things that I double checked on this site as I was editing my theme.

An interesting social media site where people can bookmark their favorite images on the web. I might use this on my site install II. A way to share inspirational visual pieces.

This site fits right in with Writing Machines, I think. It explores the reader's interaction with the text, text itself, hypertext, images... and all that nonsense. You'll be at this site for hours!!

Box model - 0 views

  •
This site helps clarify some of the things we covered in class last week with the Box Model. Again, it's not something that we necessarily need to look at. But if you're looking for some quick reminders of what we covered in class. I think this site does a pretty decent job.

Color Scheme Designer 3 - 0 views

  •
Make a great color scheme! I play with this site all the time. You can have a monochromatic scheme, a complement, analogic... and so much more. There are also options so you can see what your color scheme might look like to a color blind person!

This site is one that I would have found confusing before this class. It seems complicated with all of the different drawn images, but its block elements are very basic and straightforward.

Neilsen: Design Guru designers love to hate - 1 views

  •
Article about Jakob Nielsen who wrote "Prioritizing Web Usability" and if you take a look at his site it's extremely minimal and I would argue doesn't follow the usability guidelines we discussed in class. \n\nThis is an article about why.

The Sartorialist - 0 views

  •
Scott Schuman is The Sartorialist. He has created an intriguing person-on-the-street photography blog. His work influences the fashion design industry and trickles to many other design disciplines. I like the spirit of the site, and hope to incorporate this in my own photography.
  •
    Cool and simple photo blog!

MangoOrange Theme - 2 views

  •
A complex theme that I'm hoping to manipulate and use for my site. It has three columns, and looks complex but outlining the box level elements shows it's fairly simple.

Does a professional illustrator need a "style"? | Nate Williams Lettering, Illustration... - 0 views

  •
This piece discusses whether illustrators should have a style or not. It has a poll at the bottom that reveals some interesting data about clients in publishing and other communication fields. I am thinking of doing some illustrating for my site and this could be useful data.
