This article meets the standards of ITGS. From assessing this article through strand 1 we see that their are a number social and ethical conditions to be considered in this story. Security is a major issue here, RIM's encryption is so secure that not even powerful governments can't crack. This brings up the issue of security because countries like India are worried that this secure network can be abused by the terrorists. This brings up the issue of the digital divide and equality of access. This issue is brought up because India was threatening to disrupt Blackberry access because India did not have access to some features that blackberry users from other countries have. This leads to another problem, Reliability and integrity. Since RIM's network is the most secure network that even the most powerful governments can't crack, because of this many Corporations use Blackberry, RIM fears that if they(RIM) allow governments get a little more access, they will lose their reliability of their majority steak holders. This brings up the number of steak holders, the steak holders are RIM. their customers, India, and other middle eastern countries who are threatening to cut off service due to inequality of access. The IT systems that are mentioned are cellphones, and RIM's network. The applications that apply to the article are Business and employment, and governments control and use of information.

Obama went to China and talked in a Q&A session, mentioning and supporting the ability to use the internet freely. Although there are a lot of criticism and rumors, it helps to strengthen our democracy. It forces the leaders to hear their critics' opinions so that they can improve their leadership and power. The internet can be a source of information or changing point for political relations. One of the questions mentioned in the session was from a Taiwanese concerned about the views on "one-China" and weapon selling to Taiwanese by the Americans. He had found some of this information on the Internet.

Facebook and Twitter helps college students in their learning experience. There are alot of facts on the use of technology and how some colleges take advantage on social networking to learn more in there educated purposes.

hey ariel, i have read your post and you said that with the internet access other people are able to communicate about the collage that they are in. But what experience would a collage student need if they are already inside the collage? also i would agree with you about how it can help other people outside of the collage and wondering what they want to know. Also what advantages would someone in collage get? what kind of educational purposes?

This talks about students who become obsessed over Facebook and decide to deactivate their accounts.

This article tells the readers about the students who use Facebook, however these students become obsessed(for lack of a better word) over going onto Facebook. It also tells the reader about how some students had began to do worse in school due to overly checking their Facebook account instead of doing homework or studying. This articles tells me about students who had taken action against this, after realizing that they were not doing as well as they had before they had decided to deactivate their Facebook accounts and work harder. However some student said, ""This is temporary. I'll be back," is another." This says that once students have caught back up in school they would reactivate their accounts. This may lead them back to their old habits, but hopefully not.

Facebook is quite the distraction for many students considering that they lose their responsibilities towards their priorities. Often, many students do begin lacking in their school work due the urge to constantly check up on their Facebook for any new notifications. So their action of deactivating their account can't always have a positive impact, for some people are currently addicted to Facebook, taking it away is just not the solution. But for those that can actually handling the deactivation of their accounts are bound to pick up their grades again. When you mentioned that a student said "This is temporary, I'll be back," the student already knows that Facebook is quite the entertainment and cannot "live without it." One can only hope that when students reactivate their accounts, that they won't repeat their mistakes in distracting themselves from their school work.

This article is about a rapist on facebook that makes fake facebook profiles to speak to teens. He got one young teen girl to meet him and he raped and murdered her. This is a big problem in social networking that it is so easy to find another person.

Yuval, there have been different cases of rape and murder through the use of social networking. Was the person who used facebook this way ever caught? Now, Facebook is one of the most secure social networks, with so many users online that its privacy settings are very well established; users are able to prevent others from viewing their profile. Its something old social networks have used as well, yet not to the extent that facebook is ensuring its users.

There are many benefits to the usage of social networks towards a society, but more specifically to an individual itself. Becoming a member allows users to interact with others they do not yet know personally, but allows them to "keep track" of what others are doing. One gets to interact with businesses, giving themselves more business opportunities. It also allows people to develop skills where they give feedback to others and vise versa, creating trust over the internet.

Chinese government refuses to fully admit the extent of internet censorship enforced within the country, expanding beyond the realm of securing internet browsing in order to prevent pornographic sites and other inappropriate or harmful content. Government officials state that political enforcement for internet censorship, does not suppress the human rights of individual expression on the internet. However, many organizations and groups do argue that Chinese efforts to regulate the data being seen is aimed upon preventing perspectives of the public to be heard through the web.

The benefit of social networking allowed a medium of communication, in order to spread and advertise the campaign of Obama. The widespread usage of facebook, myspace, and other popular social networking websites by users was used to promote Obama during the election. He was able to gain many supporters through advertising on these social networks. Rather then excessively spending money on campaigning, it allowed a easy medium of spreading knowledge. Often times a lot of money is spent on president campaigns, and the emergence of social networks as a tool in the campaign helped increase Obama's supporters-significantly increasing his votes.
