This is similar to the video we watched in class a while ago. This tells me of a doctor who is helping people who are out of reach. This indicates how tele-medicine decreases the cost for patients to gain medical help. There are very few large hospitals spread over Argentina. Tele-medicine also allows hospitals to communicate with smaller clinics. The clinics can send the hospitals the symptoms of their patients. Then they can diagnose the patient and send over the results. The patients and doctors in this situation would be the stakeholders. This would be solving the social and ethical issue known as the digital divide and equality of access. By using tele-medicine doctors can access almost anyone, this cuts the problem of cost as well. This allows anyone to have access to a doctor. As said in the article "even patients in rural areas can have access to the best medical care, without the expense of traveling". This shows that even people who cannot afford to travel long distances to get the doctor. This also allows people who need the help of a specialist to use telecommunications to contact the specialist from their local doctor. However, as said in the article, the hardware needed would need to support audio, and visual components. By having visual aids, the doctors can look at the patients physical health and possibly diagnose them. The audio aids would help the doctors talk to the patients to allow them to figure out what's wrong with them. I think the best thing to use would be a webcam. This supports audio and visual aid.

This article is about the idea of putting all existing medical records into electronic form. This would cut the costs needed for storage of such information, this would also increase how fast a medical official can access the records of a sick patient. However, as listed in Strand 1, there are many positive and negative social/ethical issues. One such issue is security. By making the records digitized and put into the hospital database, people without the proper authorization would not be able to gain access to the data. This can also coincide with authenticity. The information that relates to the patient should be accessible by the patient. The patient would need to be able to get through the encryption of the data. Another social/ethical issue would be the equality of access, this would allow only certain people the ability to look at the data. Even with these positive social/ethical issues there are some negative issue. One negative issue would be integrity. There are people who can hack the encryption of this data and tamper with it. This would cause the data to be different in other places and a breach in security. This would be a great help to organizing data. Using a paper file system, the doctor would have to go through a lot of papers and cabinets to find the patient's medical history. By using a paper file cabinet documents are more likely to go missing or get mixed up with another patient's records. However, by using a database this data is much more organized. There is a smaller chance of losing the patient's data, by using back-ups the data could be easily restored. There is also a much smaller change or mixing up multiple patient's data. If the wrong data was use for the wrong person, the person may not have the correct medical treatment they need. With databases the information is much more organized. The patient's data can be found very fast, compared to a paper file system (this could take more than an hour depending on the amount of patients).

This takes the logical request from DBMS subsystems and converts them to physical equivalents. This also requires interactive processing. This replaces batch processing. This allows users to interact with data through terminals and view values online in real time. By having real time the doctors can give the patients what they need at the moment the patient needs it. The stakeholders in this specific case would be the hospitals adapting the database managing system and the patients whose information is stored in this database. If the database is tampered and there are not back-ups the patient would not have his/her medical history. This could cause the patient to be on a delay for an operation that is extremely important to their life. This could also place a lawsuit on the hospital.

This article starts off with the actions of a small travel site. This article speaks of the price they had to pay to upgrade the security. This company has to make big changes to their security in order to do business with larger companies. In this situation there are both positive and negative impacts. One big negative impact is the price to pay for this upgrade in security. In order to be on par with the security of higher level businesses smaller businesses have to pay large amounts of money to gain this security. This would require a lot of faith in the big businesses from the smaller business. As said in the article "The connection, and everything transmitted over it - financial, customer and product data - has to be secure and out of the reach of hackers, cyber thieves and even disgruntled employees." This shows how secure the website has to be. This is so that bigger companies can trust the smaller companies to handle business. However, through this impact can come a positive one. By having security equal to those of bigger businesses customers will have an easier time trusting the company. Another issue that comes up is reliability. A question that can be asked is whether or not the security is strong enough against hackers? This would give customers right to question whether or not this website would be trustworthy or not. In this situation the important stakeholders would be the bigger businesses and the smaller businesses. In order to do business both companies need to have the same level security. This would require one or both companies to upgrade their systems greatly to be on par with each other. Another important stakeholder would be the customer. The customer would need to know whether or not they could use the website without worrying too much about being hacked. If the customer knew the security was stable it would make them more comfortable about using it.

This article is about a book, and how it has ended the friendships between companies and employees. The article then goes into the topic of building a Boeing plane. A survey was sent out to the employees by the authors of this book to see if the company would make changes to its structure. However, many employees were laid off due to outsourcing. In the words of the article "Two aims of the outsourcing were to cut costs and to gain access to more foreign markets; both of those goals were largely achieved. " This shows that with outsourcing many people lost their jobs but the quality of the product was better than before. The 787Dreamliner had become much better with the technology used instead of the employees creating it. The employees were once treasured and considered themselves a family of sorts, but being replaced by Boeing they were obsolete and were easily expendable. The authors of the book say that anyone in top management should read this book and rethink their strategies for running the business. The book should also be read by the employees so they can work together to restore this idea of a family. The ethical issues in this idea of getting rid of workers so that better quality work can be done. By outsourcing jobs this allows the company to save more money than it would with having employees.

In this article it talks about the idea of putting RFID, or Radio Frequency Identification technology into a credit card. This can be both a good thing and a bad thing. It would be a good thing because it would totally change the way a business could work. It would decrease the amount of time a person spends in a store. A person could simply walk in and out of the supermarket with the items they wanted and the amount of money would be charged directly to the persons credit card. However, this could result in an increase in credit card abuse. with RFID technology the signal could be picked up by any radio frequency. This can result in identity theft, and credit card fraud. This is a a violation of the social and ethical issue Security. The stakeholders in this situation would be the credit card users, and the companies issuing the credit card. The users would become angered that their credit cards could be maxed out without them using it more than once and the companies could be sued for each credit card they issued.

When I was looking at Kimberly's post on Diigo, i thought it was interesting what Obama said about the internet. In the article i saw that Obama said this "I actually think that that makes our democracy stronger and it makes me a better leader because it forces me to hear opinions that I don't want to hear." This tells me that he is forced to listen to the views of people who do not agree with what he is doing to keep our democracy, and country strong. By letting others state their opinions he can do what he thinks needs to be done. A question i have about this is whether or not the Chinese Government will listen to what Obama has said.

This talks about students who become obsessed over Facebook and decide to deactivate their accounts.

This article tells the readers about the students who use Facebook, however these students become obsessed(for lack of a better word) over going onto Facebook. It also tells the reader about how some students had began to do worse in school due to overly checking their Facebook account instead of doing homework or studying. This articles tells me about students who had taken action against this, after realizing that they were not doing as well as they had before they had decided to deactivate their Facebook accounts and work harder. However some student said, ""This is temporary. I'll be back," is another." This says that once students have caught back up in school they would reactivate their accounts. This may lead them back to their old habits, but hopefully not.

This is an article about a European team creating an app can be downloaded on to any internet connected communications device. However, even after being presented with 10m euros, this group of 22 organizations hasn't yet received help from companies such as Apple. Apple still wishes to be different from others.

This meets the requirements for the IT triangle because within the article it refers to some companies not accepting this application. Within strand 1 the issue of The digital divide and equality of access comes up. Within the article i learned about the organizations who are trying to make this app for all people with internet connected devices. This shows that the Apple company is at a sort of disadvantage for being behind in this new "App for all" program. By staying out of they will not be allowing the app created to the devices the company has created. This also related to Strand 2. In this app it will created to work on what ever people desire the app to work on. This is expressed in the article through "The idea would enable a given app to work, for example, on a web-ready television, in a car and on a mobile, no matter the makers of the devices." It would work on all of these things listed. This is represented through "Home and Leisure" and "Political Process". It would relate to "Home and Leisure" because the app can connect to computers and cell phones. It can also relate to the political process, with Apple not really wanting to get involved with the project. The relation between this article and Strand 3 is that this article involves Personal and Public Communications. This app can be downloaded by just about anyone with a internet connected device. The stakeholders in this situation would be the people using the apps. Another stakeholder would be the 22 organizations creating the app. The other stakeholders would the Companies who are allowing this app into their device;.
