Photo Editing Service | Photo Retouching Services | Edit Photos Online - 2 views

  •
Like in the situation given in our case study, this business offers a variety of services, but these focus mainly on photo retouching and editing. The site's design incorporates several elements which our own "client" business in the Case Study must deal with -- namely making site services and prices known to browsing users, and having customer help or an FAQ page on the website. In this site's case, the tour is also helpful for serving as a guide for new members, the role of which in the case study can be replaced by an about page or a help page instead.

BBC NEWS | Health | Virtual pregnancy helps train midwives - 0 views

  •
"Using graphics, video and sound, midwifery students are taken on an imaginary journey through the pregnancy of Jessica Tate - from its earliest stages, to early labour. The package includes sections in which the student can use a mouse to move over computer-enhanced photo images of the 'pregnant' abdomen. As the mouse moves over the image, a picture of the uterus and foetus becomes clearer, revealing information gradually in the same way that would happen if the student used their hands to examine the woman. There is a big issue in the western world with 'problem' births and it doesn't have to be like this Susanne Darra Throughout the programme, the students assess Jessica's progress and are also able to click on to 'hot words' for up-to-date background knowledge. "The charity facilitates a low cost telemedicine service linking doctors at hospitals in the developing world with leading medical and surgical consultants who generously give free advice. Local doctors can send clinical photos, a patient's history and any other relevant material (such as X-rays) to the Trust. A secure web-based messaging system is used, see below. This allows referring practitioners access to a panel of over 400 specialists in a wide range of disciplines. The median length of time between receipt of original message and first reply by a specialist consultant is currently 1.8 days."

"The show features 19-year-old Ally, who was 16 when she sent a nude picture to an ex-boyfriend who said he'd get back together with her if she did so. The boy, in Ally's words, "ended up sending it to everybody in his contact list" and soon Ally's picture was all over school. Ally said she sent the photo because "having him ask me for the picture made me feel wanted again." "

This site is similar to Carmens because it offeres similar services and products. It even offers a place for the customer to upload their own photos in order to personalize various items. While exploring this site I learned that it is very important to think about the design of the website. This website is easy to navigate well organized and esthetically really nice to look at and click around.

Texas man claims Droid 2 exploded in his ear | Electronista - 1 views

  •
This specific article pertains to a health issue regarding a cellular phone. The specific stakeholders here are Verizon and this man whom allegedly had his phone blow up while using it, injuring his ear. He has suffered no hearing problems, but Verizon will be held at a legal case against this, or so the man, named Embry, says. This relates to health considerations, because the main problem here is that a man got injured and this was not good. This telephone was an Android Verizon Phone, one of the latest phones out. The cause to this problem is unknown, but Verizon will definitely have a lawsuit against them, since this was a threat to safety, and looking at the photo, you can tell that this mans ear was injured. This could also be fraud, a way for a man to make money off of a company by faking an injury. The battery to the phone remains unaffected, which begs the question of what possibly could have set the explosion to this screen, if anything? It isn't something we can know at the moment, but the investigation will definitely give answers. Is any user of a cell phone safe if the top notch cell phone that just came out exploded? This could be a danger to many people, not only just Embry, who might have been lucky to survive the encounter.

Telemedicine Connects Earthquake-Ravaged Haiti to the World - 0 views

  •
This article discusses the introduction of IT in haiti after the disastrous earthquake that hit this under-privelaged country hard. There are many people who are put in the situation of getting wounded from the earthquake. A few volunteers from the University of Miami went to Haiti with 2 donated portable satellites, computer laptops, each device contained a satellite telephone, satellite Internet, and video camera. These donated materials and workers who volunteered were important because of the problem with money in Haiti. The medical team consulted in real time with their Florida colleagues 700 miles away. The potential of this was that it can improve diagnoses, speed treatment, and lower costs. One thing they could do was, using a camera on a cell phone with Internet access, they took photos of patients' X-ray films and wounds and emailed them to stateside specialists. Without this technology, it would have been much, much more difficult to work logistics and communications. Dr. Alessi, a volunteer in Haiti for many years, worked when there was no use of It. "What's most exciting is that we are building an entire health system in Haiti," he said. "That's where telemedicine and technology will come in. I think Haiti is finally going to be connected to the rest of the world."

Foto Tailor - 1 views

The website fototailor.com shares several of the same needs as Carmen. The website successfully showcases the services of the company. The user interface is inviting, consistent, and easy to maneuver. The information about the business and its clients is organized and easy to follow along. The website does have page that lists the prices for specific services but it does encourage interaction with the client through the offering of an account where users can upload their pictures identify what they want done and send the request to fototailor. With this feature it is obvious that this site does indeed provide safe access to customers to view and upload their personal pictures. Visiting this site has given me new ideas about how the user interface of Carmen's website should be and how important it is to the attraction of customers. I also learned an interesting way of getting clients to interact more digitally with the company through the login/out account option.
