Especially social media. Teachers can use it in the classroom by either networking through her blog and finding content alike teachers or by simply gathering the concepts Nielsen discusses.

Edmodo is a free social learning network for teachers, students and schools. With a design similar to Facebook, Edmodo offers teachers and students a safe and easy way to connect and collaborate. Edmodo can be used to share content, access and submit homework, take quizzes, and collaborate with other students. Also offers a parent component that allows parents access to their student's account.

I like the wiki source in the aspect that it explains everything about Edmodo, which would be great to send parents/staff/administrator to if they were curious about what Edmodo is and how you are going to use it in your classroom. I think this provides a "safer and more private" learning environment for students that could be beneficial. I think this is pretty similar to what we are using for our online class with blackboard, but Edmodo provides a more user-friendly area for younger students. Thanks for sharing!

Digital Citizenship lessons for students and teachers

Thanks, Mekca! We spend very little time teaching Digital Citzenship. I think it needs to be embedded in every teacher's curriculum. There are so many "teachable" moments that present themselves that could be linked to proper social media usage. This is going to be an excellent resource for me to share with my fellow educators.

This is an excellent source for me to use in my Teen Insights classroom. We started with a unit on bullying... then cyberbullying... I think we're missing the point- students just need to learn to be good digital citizens! I will use this source to build my curriculum. I appreciate that the curriculum is geared towards students but that it gives teachers and parents good background as well. Parents are a huge part of cyberbullying problems. Much of the conflict we have in school has to do with something students do online at home and then carry those hard feelings with them to school. I do not have resources similar to these. The video that my curriculum used to show warned students to avoid chat rooms and to only choose names that gave no indication of their age, gender, or location. It's good for students to stay safe, but the world has become much more familiar and personal with technology. Our curriculum needs to adapt to keep up.

This is a new organizing tool that I was recently introduced to through reading a fellow cohorter's blog. I LOVE IT! A great way for you, your students, and your PLN to organize your reading lists or even the books you want to read.

GoodReads is a social networking site used to share book recommendations.  Users can write reviews, look at recommendations, and share in group discussions about certain books.

Pinterest offers teachers a great place to find classroom preparation materials such as classroom, test, or bulletin board ideas.

Although Pinterest can be a social networking site, many teachers have "boards" filled with "pins" of different curriculum ideas, videos, materials, and more.

This site has a wealth of well-written lesson plans and attached materials.

This was a great resource during my first years in teaching! I still love peeking at it for lesson ideas!

Fun easy way to share information in a poster/flyer form online

I love Smore posters! I used it to publicize my Bakery Business project and it was nice to have the social media outlets built in. My students also used it to make individual posters to print and hang around the school. It was nice to have a choice of mediums. I added Canva to this list but it is not as well adapted for online use. Smore is unique in its ability to forward through various social media networks and embed in email but still look so nicely done in print.

Like Facebook, only private ... a more secure way to collaborate and communicate within your organization.

Facebook can be used to stay connected to friends, but it can also be used as a way to collaborate with others.  In our class we have created a group where we can talk about different things happening in class and we are the only ones that can see it.
