"During the June and July 2012 sessions of the 3 day workshop "iPad Media Camp," I asked participants to post questions they had about our curriculum as well as related topics using a Google form. Instead of just answering questions in class, I created narrated slideshows using the iPad app "Explain Everything" and posted the videos to YouTube. This way these videos can be used in class (including upcoming sessions) as well as shared with others who couldn't attend in person. Below you'll find the questions addressed in each screencast video as well as the videos themselves."

"Based on the feedback we received from our staff, we decided to officially start our professional development with 'iPad Basics' or as we called it, 'iPad Tips & Tricks.' The goal of the PD was to get teachers comfortable with their iPads so that they could become more confident and start experimenting with them in their classrooms. "I aimed to start the teacher training session with the basics, then move onto the functionality of some of the apps. The basics on an iPad are fairly easy to master (hey, my 2 year old daughter can switch between apps) but some of the features of the device can take some time to get used to. Some apps are easy to get to grips whilst other are more challenging and not equal in terms of functionality. "

"A very techno-skilled young teacher, Lindsay, was in a session with me on Friday. I could tell pretty quickly that she is keen on learning and has a lot of iPad expertise. During a discussion on uses for Dragon Dictation (an app that converts voice to text), Lindsay shared the speak selection feature of iOS as a complimentary technology. Great! I had never thought of tying dragon dictation to the voice over feature of the iPad before to give you a fully integrated speech-to-text-to-speech again experience."

"After months of development, I am pleased to share a brand new iPhone/iPad/iPod app with you that should prove to be extremely useful in practical sessions. The app idea came about after I realised that their needed to be a more user friendly and mobile way to research and plan games and activities to play in your class. "This was the perfect way for teachers to share skills and ideas, have professional conversations and extend their professional learning. During the session, teachers were given the challenge to "Create a digital story where you become the characters of a fairytale." They completed this in small groups using Dropbox to share photos, Strip Designer to cut themselves out and place themselves onto backgrounds and finally Keynote to put the story together."

"I stumbled across a great free app the other day. Haiku Deck bills itself as the alternative to Keynote and Powerpoint. After trying it out, it was very easy to use. I will be sure to use it the next time I present at a conference or professional development session. I immediately tried it out in a classroom of fourth graders who thought it was a slick app to make vocabulary cards with a little encouragement. "
